Have been looking through Wenger's transfer history and it occurs to me that he has very little track-record in big-money signings.

1. With Cazorla probably our most expensive player, Wenger has actually never spent more than 15 mln.

2. Of the signings in this "big-money" bracket, many have been flops:
Reyes
Wiltord
Arshavin

Wouldn't really call any of them flops tbh

Would not consider Wiltord a flop

Did you genuinely just describe Wiltord as a flop?! Utterly discredits your post.

Also do you think about inflation? For example a £13m fee for Henry in 1999 is equivalent to approximately £20m in today's money.

Arshavin was somewhat of a flop. Reyes was good but probably joined at the wrong time, too young. Wiltord was not a flop, no chance.

Wiltord was not a flop, a good reliable backup striker/winger, scored some importnat goals in his time, not least the league title winning goal at OT which gives him a special place in my heart.

Reyes was very talented but weak mentally for the fight of the EPL and got homesick, not really Wenger's fault.

Arshavin was very dissapointing for the talent he had, just never really put a decent shift in. Again if you just go on what you see in front of you on teh players you buy, Arshavin was a good buy talent wise. Wenger was not to know how it would turn out.

Maybe flop is harsh, but the Marquee signing of wiltord.

He certainly wasn't the a huge player for us.

In his last season at Arsenal he played 25 games and scored 5 goals (0 assists).
