Sad day to see Cazorla be released. One of fav. Arsenal players of recent times and when he was fit made us a much better side overall, miles ahead of Ramsey and Xakha in my view at his best. I Personally would have liked to give him a 1 year extension to see if he could get back to his best after his injury nightmare. Maybe it was a mutual thing though and Caz thought the EPL would be perhaps to quick and physical for him now?

Couldn’t agree more Ryan, my favourite player and really sad to see him go. He wasn’t one of the cosy club and wanted to go out and win.

It was him who got us to play so well against City when he got Coquelin sat next to him in the base of our midfield.

A class above all our midfielders and I hoped he got another 12 months too.

{Ed025's Note - shame really stoner, very good player and always played with a smile on his face which makes a change from most of them mate..

Well it all over bar the formalities. I just never fancied us to to score to be honest. It is clear tonight we need better fullbacks that can actually cross well as it kills us when we rely on them so much for our width and they can't get a decent ball in between them. The whole defence and goalie needs sorting.

We need a top class CB ESP with Kos out probably Christmas time. A top dm. Top winger. Top goalie. And like you say at least one full back.

I would be happy with a Ozil Mkhitaryan swap + cash deal? .

RyanP

1.) 15 Dec 2017 11:28:08
We have enough injury prone players we don't need anymore. I would keep ozil and get sanchez out of the club asap. Ozil is more a team player and his assists are second to none. Sanchez is an individual and relies on himself rather than the team.

2.) 15 Dec 2017 12:14:28
By all accounts though Ozil is not going to sign a extension and is looking to move. United seem keen on Ozil and Mourinho wants rid of Mkhitaryan as he dislikes small technical players unlike Wenger who loves them so it kind of makes sense. Agree on Sanchez despite his individual talent I think he can sour the team morale and can have a negative effect on the team togetherness as a whole. Problem is with both in their last year we just ain't going to get the cash to buy qulaity replacements.

3.) 15 Dec 2017 14:40:45
I would offer 300k a week to ozil. the alternative is to go out and spend 60-70m plus on a player who will take time to settle. Imo ozil will stay if it is offered to him.
Sanchez i agree can send out negative vibes with his selfishness he needs to respect the players rather than being a one man team who will only pass to ozil. wenger needs to take him to one side and tell him he must pass when others are in a better position. i'm not going to hold my breath on that. That is why i think he should leave.

Good win in quite a feisty charity shield game. We dominated much of the game possession and territory wise especially in 2nd but still need to be creating more shooting opportunities from the dominance we have. Defence decent on open play considering two 1st choices were not playing but still don't like this zonal setup on corners still this is still an Achilles heal we need to sort out.

If we can keep Sanchez, Giroud and the Ox we look pretty good attacking wise with what we have. My main area of concern is that Ramsey and Xahka partnership I don't think it is defensively secure enough when playing the better teams. Yes Lemar would be nice to get but I don't think he actually an essential purchase with the cost need to get him over a strong physically commanding central midfielder that we need.

I get what your saying but lemar can embed in the team this season as ox and Sanchez likely to leave next season.

Also you ask for this physically commanding central midfielder. Can you name him? Is there one out there? Better than what we have? Will he suit this league?

I personally think Xhaka is settling now and his partnership with Ramsey could well blossom nicely playing with 3 at the back gives Ramsey that little freedom he's needed. Although I do think we need another centre mid as cazorla is out and we no longer have that kind of player.

2.) 06 Aug 2017 23:55:16
Elnany was great today i'd have him over Ramsey.

3.) 07 Aug 2017 13:55:47
I have always seen Ramsey and Xhaka competing for the same spot rather than playing together in CM. To be fair though they were superb together in the Cup Final, but i would like to see a more physical DM to play alongside for those more difficult away games. Always been a fan of Carvahlo but others could do the job.

4.) 07 Aug 2017 19:40:32
Carvalho is way overrated, he's slow and out of position way to often, in a more competitive league he'd be found out way too often. People always call for this physical and amazing defensive minded midfielder, when in actual fact there's not that many out there, and most aren't any better than what we have, they just look better cause they play in a league where their team probably wins 90% of its games due to lack of competitive teams.

Agree completely. All of the great teams of the Wenger era had a strong spine with the likes of Emmanuel Petit or Gilberto in the role of a physically commanded central midfielder. A player like this will allow Ramsey to do what he does best as well.

We never seen the best of Jack with any sort of consistency because he was either injured or the getting back up to speed after a injury. Yes it is sad in a way as he was a Arsenal man through the youth setup, but there is no room for sentiment in this game if you to progress and succeed. Emery unlike Wenger showed some bottle and brutal honesty and told like it is to him, which to me bods well as it shows Emery is not going to accept passengers. I wish Jack well but it was the right move.

Yep sad as Arsenal is his boyhood club and you cold tell he always gave it his all when he played, but injury's have killed it for him. It is good that Emery is not scared to make tough calls and be honest with players for the good of the team as whole going forward. Wenger's main weakness was being too loyal to underperforming or injury prone players. I hope he finds the right club for him.

Yeah it a decent Free transfer signing. Not exactly going to have the other top table teams quaking in their boots but he will add vast expereince to the defence and and provide good cover. I don't really rate Bellerin now much to be honest so I would actually start Lichtsteiner as 1st choice and if a good offer comes in sell Bellerin.

Fellaini just don't feel like he is a Arsenal type player atall, but maybe that is part of our problem we need some other types in our sqaud to mix it up. He is a bit of card magnet but he is still a good ariel goal threat from set plays if nothing else, not a starter maybe but a different option to have from the bench. Since we lost Giroud we ani't got that target player that can have a physical battle up top.

Lichtsteiner is all done now, yeah a bit of a strange one being 34, But I guess allows more rotation of the RB position and perhaps extra cover at CB if needed. TBH I don't really rate Bellerin much anyway and Lichtsteiner while not as quick would be a better defender for me if only in the short term. I would quite willing to sell Bellerin for a decent sum.

Mustafi is a liability to me and too often looks for a offside flag rather than just defending the situation. If it is true we have the greek lad from Dortmund coming in Mustafi needs selling. I would not have minded selling Bellerin either but it appears Emery likes him.

Xakha is not a DM for sure but i think it is worth seeing him futher upfield in a Emery system Torreira and AMN or Eleneny would be my DM choices in a 4-2-3-1 with Xakha as one option pushed up with Ramsey and Ozil behind Pea then you can plenty of options with Miki and Lacazette available also, I think lacazette could also play behind Pea.

I think getting back a top 4 spot will count as a succesful 1st season for sure. Will not be easy but if he can just get the defence better drilled to conceed less sloppy goals we have a chance. We have the forward power to compete for sure.

It is on Arsenal.com now so all confirmed. A decent appointment i feel. He is the right sort of manager for the re-build we need and will by all accounts get more disipline and tactics into the team play, which is what we need.

It was very unlucky for us tbh to have A. Madrid dropping down into the Europa cup when they are better than most of he teams in the champions league, very difficult to beat for any team. We would have beaten Marseille for sure.
