i don't know about the rest of you but spurs are beginning to scare me. not just sunday but for the rest of the season.
don't be blinkered by your hate for them because I hate them as much as anybody. yes, pugface has gone to Madrid but they have bought very very well and I think they have the right combination as a team.
More importantly, they have a big squad. 1 player out and 7 new players in. A season is a lot of games, prem league, europe, fa cup and league cup.Injuries and suspensions play a very key role. As we have heard wenger say many times "we looked a bit tired today and the midweek trip to europe has made them tired".
Spurs can rotate players, give them a rest, keep them fresh and more importantly a big squad means competition. if you get selected to play than you make sure you play well because you want to keep your place and not lose it to another member of the squad.
at arsenal we basically have the first 11 so it doesn't matter if you don't play that well you will probably play the next game too because we are too thin on the ground.
Been a gooner over 40 years now and I fear for this season.
if you reply to this post please don't come out with the usual rubbish "its only spurs". "we always finish above them". "they are crap". its not about yesteryear its about the here and now. and here and now they scare the bloody pants off me

I agree, I think are looking well beyond the Top 4 with their ambition, I think they are looking to challenge for the title, I personally don't think they will be that far away

It remains to be seen whether the buys are that good- remember how wonderful QP were going to be when Hughes bought about 10 players. qpr ended up in Championship!

Also spurs wages billwill have risen hugely so presumably they will have the shed a few players more than just Bale

While I agree with you that we are somewhat light after our first 11, I have to disagree with your comments about the Spuds. They have sold/got rid of about 6 first team regulars from last season in bale, huddlestone, parker, dempsey, etc. Now, they have improved on some of these but that's not hard. They still look a little light and unproven up front to me. You say the season is long and injuries will hurt us. The same goes for them. They are now a closer match to us but nothing more. They may no longer be 'crap' but 'its STILL only spurs!'

Spurs now have a squad that can hurt us. I don't like it but it's true. While we dilly dally they have jumped in and bought well for a couple of seasons. We have the 'diddy men' in CM but they now have Sandro/Capoue to rotate as the ball winners and a myriad of AM to hurt teams with a couple of proven goalscorers competing for places up front. Defensively, they are solid with Lloris looking more and more like a bargain buy in the sticks. Paulinho looks frightening going forward and there's Dembele, Siggurdson et al fighting just make the bench. We currently have Sanogo, Frimpong and the like to call on if Plan A doesn't work. I am worried about this season. Sunday will be fine; we'll smash the spurs at home, but with our paper thin squad I'm not sure we will cope with UCL, EPL, FA Cup and Capital One commitments. Unless Le Prof has un tres cunning plan for this window I am one worried Gooner.
