If we don't get Lemar, which looks likely, we should switch our immediate attention to Mahrez.

He has agreed to join Roma, but only if Arsenal don't come in for him.

I appreciate this could all depend on Sanchez's decision, but we could end up losing out unless we pull our finger out.

1.) 16 Jul 2017 00:00:03
It's almost worth trying to sell Sanchez abroad if Wenger knows he's not signing. A lot can change during the season but if we keep him and he doesn't sign. He will be a city player following year and my god what a squad they will have.

2.) 16 Jul 2017 03:46:51
Let him go.

3.) 16 Jul 2017 09:41:14
The way I see it is yes Alexis is phenomenal, but he doesn't want to be here. For all his attributes being professional is not his strong point, at times he is a stroppy teenager who hasn't got his own way! Now let's say we keep him things aren't going great do you really believe he is going to give his best for us? I don't.
He will become disruptive and a complete pain in the arse! And all this will happen at a crucial point in our season.
Sell him now let city, Bayern whoever take the diva and move on invest the money into lemar and mahrez ot whoever the club has planned. Let's move on and concentrate on the season ahead. The club have went above and beyond in regards to his package and he turned us down shows the character of a guy who's career we saved after he failed at a Barca.

4.) 16 Jul 2017 10:49:40
Good post mate.

5.) 16 Jul 2017 11:25:32
100% agree.

Although I don't personally see why he rates man city so highly. Pep rotates regularly so I can imagine sanch will love that, being on the bench every 5th week.

I also think man city really didn't get to grips with peps complicated roles for players last year. They don't come across as a team like juve, where a bunch of nutters want to win at all costs. It's more win through innovation I. m. o at man city. Outsmart the opponent.

Nothing wrong with that at all, but given Sanchez moans about our mentality, like to carry the ball and is very fluid in his position, i struggle to see who bar kompany has what he's after in manchester.

Bayern just makes more sense for him to me.

6.) 16 Jul 2017 12:56:13
Surely there's better out there than mahrez.

7.) 16 Jul 2017 23:48:03
Don't listen to the paper talk. Wengers not one to keep players against there will. If Sanchez wants to go. Arsene will sell him. I don't think he'd sell him to a rival not without a world class replacement and Lamer isn't that.

8.) 17 Jul 2017 10:24:25
Alexis stated he is waiting for Arsenal, he could possibly mean that we/ Arsenal are waiting to confirm Lamar as to get the best deal possible before sanctioning a sale of our star player?

just a theory.

9.) 17 Jul 2017 11:38:38
carrassco from atleti.

10.) 17 Jul 2017 13:21:34
We should try to sign Ousmanne Dembele instead.

{Ed002's Note - He is a completely different player.}

05 Jul 2017 18:51:20
Woohoo just seen Laca in the red and white.
Back of the net.

1.) 06 Jul 2017 09:11:54
I must admit I'm still not convinced. the French league is not as strong as ours, I hope he won't feel the pressure.
Doesn't anyone feel a bit like second choice either? A bit like if you really like a girl but she likes your best mate. He turns her down so she turns to you like "oh go on then". Atletico had him all lined up, the only reason he didn't sign for them was the transfer ban. Granted the five year deal gives us a bit of security but I just fear if he performs well this year, and Madrid or Barcelona come calling he'll be off!
Having said all that I really hope we don't leave it at that, it's a good start. a fantastic start if he performs but I'm still very cautious about it.

2.) 06 Jul 2017 09:32:54
Alexandre Lacazette Lacazette Lacazette
Alexandre Lacazette OOOOOOO OOOO OOOHHHH.

3.) 06 Jul 2017 10:56:42
Boom xhaka lacca.

4.) 06 Jul 2017 20:06:34
french league i'd take cavani verrati matuidi aurier lemar mbappe etc list goes on. i'm not worried he will so very well.

5.) 06 Jul 2017 20:16:50
If only KDB was French? 😁.

6.) 06 Jul 2017 21:14:23
The last 3 PFA player of the year's came from Ligue 1 (Kante/ Hazard/ Mahrez) also Henry/ Trezeguet/ Drogba/ Benzema/ Anelka/ Aubameyang just to name a few also Ligue 1. Really fed up of this "but it's only ligue 1" rubbish. the guy is French he grew up in France so guess what. yes you got it he will start his career in Ligue 1. The loyalty he has shown to Lyon over the past 2 seasons is a sign of the charachter we are getting on top of the goals, let the man play at least a season or even a game at that matter and judge him by what he does in an Arsenal shirt. I am very confident this is going to be a massive massive signing for us.

7.) 06 Jul 2017 21:20:43
Top post mate.

8.) 06 Jul 2017 22:15:00
He's 175cm in height. Watch him struggle with defenders stronger and taller by 10cm in the french league. I think he'll need to adapt but the guy has got fight to him. Ozil and him are going to get along very well imo.

9.) 07 Jul 2017 00:24:23
Well we'll see, just for the record though I'm not slating him. All I'm saying is the league isn't as strong, and I'm right there. I hope he does well and I'm proved wrong of course. All I'm saying is that we should temper our excitement a little.

10.) 07 Jul 2017 06:47:55
It's not often we sign World class players so let's just be excited and look forward to what is going to happen!

11.) 07 Jul 2017 12:42:40
Apart from the premier league what other league has strength in depth come on stop talking nonsense, Spanish league is not all that neither is italian or german so i don't get your point mate.

{Ed007's Note - The sad thing is people actually believe that. The German League is far superior in quality and strength in depth than the EPL where the only strength is the money they waste on buying players from other leagues because the homegrown English players are garbage.
Do you really think teams like Brighton, Watford, Huddersfield, Bournemouth or WBA add anything positive to the EPL? Outside the Top 6 the rest of the league varies between mediocre and absolute dross - which is a fair description of the quality of football on show in England too.}

12.) 07 Jul 2017 14:02:05
Elhombre, average pl centre half is just 2 cm taller than in ligue 1. Also can't remember Aguero (173cm) , Rooney (176cm) , Sanchez (168cm) etc having trouble scoring.

13.) 07 Jul 2017 15:58:59
he will be great guys no doubt he has that self belief and fight I don't see in our other strikers.

14.) 07 Jul 2017 16:52:05
Do SC freiburg, Mainz, FC Augsburg, RB leipzig and Frankfurt add anything positive to the German Bundesliga?

15.) 07 Jul 2017 18:28:42
Magpie look at the players to come out of France nuff said.

16.) 07 Jul 2017 21:40:29
Ed007 you have hit the nail on the head mate! We really are diludid when it comes to thinking the EPL is the best and then we compare ourselves to la liga. Both leagues have a lot to be desired and we have talked before about the championship been the most competitive league in this country.

04 Jul 2017 16:21:58
Giroud wants to stay.

I'm well happy with that. Adds another option to our attack.

dagenham gunner

1.) 04 Jul 2017 16:36:11
Prefer welbeck fod that job now for mw dags. I think if he stays fit he's a better option for holding the ball up and winning it. We will sell someone this summer. For me giroud and perez are favourites and walcott and welbeck will stay. Sanchez is the only important one, though.

2.) 04 Jul 2017 17:12:46
I think they all have their attributes Steve.

Welbeck has speed, not the best finisher.
Ditto Walcott, but I think he's a better finisher.
Olly, leads the line better than all of the above, decent finisher and brings others into play. Aerial ability better than most.

Perez just needs more game time.

3.) 04 Jul 2017 17:41:08
Giroud is a bit part player for me and only that. Perez isn't fancied by wenger. Giroud 31 and getting slower and perez just because he hasn't been given a run, need to go. Only my opinion of course.

4.) 04 Jul 2017 18:09:53
God help us if we get an injury.

Fancy a game?

5.) 04 Jul 2017 18:12:49
It will be interesting to see what players do actually depart this summer. We do struggle to move players on.

6.) 04 Jul 2017 18:14:37
Giroud is quality in my opinion. I'd much rather start him up front than welbz and Walcott. Perez seemed alright, but like everyone has said, he wasn't given enough game time. If it was up to me, I'd keep Giroud and get rid of Theo as Giroud offers a lot more up front. Obviously Theo doesn't appeal to a lot of clubs as he's a bag of s**t and is payed way too much.

{Ed025's Note - not a big fan then jaybo?.. :)

7.) 04 Jul 2017 19:22:54
There is bound to be at least one forward sold with Lacazette coming in, My preference would be Walcott but he is content and comfortable here so I think Sanchez is leaving but's one I feel that could drag out a while, to try avoid him going to city. At least we got Lacazeete in nice and early before the pre season tour so time to settle in. I really think he is about the best striker we could have realistically got with being out of Champions league.

Perez was just a odd signing from the start not sure why we signed him seemed a but of desperate punt to me, he was never going to be nothing more than a squad backup.

I am hoping for a midfielder enforcer rumours about William Carvalho which would be decent, not fussed either way for Marhez tbh.

8.) 05 Jul 2017 06:52:50
Giroud may be 31 soon but honestly when has he ever beaten anyone for pace? He will barely be affected by losing speed. Giroud's play is much more Drogba than Owen so I reckon he's got a couple years left in him as a top striker. Which he is.

09 Jun 2017 23:19:03
Sanchez to Man City.

dagenham gunner

1.) 10 Jun 2017 08:26:41
Dags. I'm reading it but I am finding it hard to understand it mate. I just don't get it.

2.) 10 Jun 2017 08:36:34
We're clearly not going to pay him what he wants otherwise the contract would have been signed.

Kroenke and Wenger have no qualms with selling our best players to our rivals so it's a done deal for me.

3.) 10 Jun 2017 09:05:14
Stoner. it's unbelievable but believable isn't it mate? .

4.) 10 Jun 2017 09:39:56
With a year to go we are in weak position, as we saw in the past when we had to sell the line of RVP and Nasri to rivals. It's better to get a large transfer fee for a player than risk him going to rivals on a free in a years time. The important thing is to bring in a top quality replacement and improve the squad in general. The two players I would like if Sanchez departs are Costa and Bale. Costa up top, with Bale on the left would be awesome.

5.) 10 Jun 2017 11:09:44
I doubt he will be allowed to go to City but if he is and he does then I hope Arsenal fans will give him a brilliant reception when he comes to the Emirates, he's given more to our club in 3 seasons than most of the tram have put together over a decade.
Let's not be bitter let's be appreciative of all he's given us and respect the fact he just wants to achieve things we can't offer him at Arsenal.

6.) 10 Jun 2017 12:45:15
The club wouldn't be stupid enough to do that as selling your best player to a rival such as man city with what has gone in the past and if you don't get a top quality replacement is just going to cause tension with fans before there season has started if he's going it would be abroad think a deal with Bayern for Costa and 20 - 30 mill and getting in a top striker would soften the blow imo.

7.) 10 Jun 2017 12:45:51
There is no way on earth he will go to citeh.

8.) 10 Jun 2017 19:48:09
stoner you really think he is leaving because of the money side of things? its not about the cash.

9.) 10 Jun 2017 19:48:52
he has a year left. our hands are tied if he wants to end up at mancity he ends up there. or wherever he wants.

10.) 11 Jun 2017 09:04:44
The lad wants £350K per week and is not budging on any lower offers that are on the table. At least this is the information us fans have. So I'm not sure how this isn't about the money.

I get that footballers careers are limited but I truly dislike the fact that some players come to us to have their bruised egos reinflated. He was almost forgotten at Barcelona before Arsenal resurrected his career. He may have been our best player over the last few seasons but the lad has no loyalty. Reminds me of a certain Dutchman who we stood by for years while he was constantly injured. He then finally has one good season and decided to jump ship.

11.) 11 Jun 2017 13:18:02
please do not compare sanchez to rvp. sanchez owes us nothing he did well at Barcelona but neymar meant he wanted to go play.
we have offered him big money but he wants to win things. he will earn top top money where ever he goes. its that simple.

12.) 11 Jun 2017 17:29:33
Derby, that's your opinion of the situation. Just 65 appearances in his 3 year stint at Barcelona tell me a different story. Again, that's just my opinion.

13.) 11 Jun 2017 20:24:36
Sanchez made 54 appearances for Barcelona in his last season, 141 in 3 years, 88 in La Liga.

14.) 12 Jun 2017 04:57:43
Soccerbase stats seem to be way off, you're right Babyburger. Other stats I've looked at show 122 games played for Barcelona with just 86 starts. Compared to 143 played for Arsenal with 133 starts.

From the stats I've seen, he managed on average 1700 minutes per season with Barcelona and about 4000 minutes per season with Arsenal. This of course is inclusive of all cup games.

02 Jun 2017 17:22:18
Rumours of JW10 to WHU for £10m.

Yay or Nay?

Personally, I will drive him there myself. Or should I say, I would push his wheelchair there myself?

3.) 02 Jun 2017 20:13:29
That's it dags you absolute piece of work! Your dead my friend.

4.) 02 Jun 2017 20:31:42
10 million would be a bargain for them. He needs to play. I'd be sad to see him go but might be kick up the backside he needs. I'd still expect more than 10 million though.

5.) 03 Jun 2017 05:19:39
I believe we have seen the best of Wilshere, who played okay at Bournemouth, but ended up injured yet again. I would consider selling him, but would hope to achieve at least £20m.

6.) 03 Jun 2017 06:46:47
I would take that even if it were in Rupees.
Waste of space ' On and off the pitch.

7.) 03 Jun 2017 17:46:16
I would keep jack, if only for the song he sung on top of the bus about Spurs! That itself is worth a new contract hha!

Per for manager. he's a legend. Lol.

5.) 11 Jul 2017 18:59:25
Arsene says Alexis hasn't asked to leave, he probably has a clause that states he loses in some way if he puts in a transfer request as I'm sure I've read others have had.
He will simply sit tight and wait for someone to make an offer Arsenal don't want to refuse or see out his contract reluctantly until we can't keep him any longer, if he was interested in staying he'd be looking to get his contract sorted ASAP and he isn't as far as anyone can tell.
If he wants out let him go imo.

6.) 11 Jul 2017 19:00:30
Sanchez doesn't know yet.

Gaffer tape, cable ties etc.

7.) 11 Jul 2017 19:03:16
And what about ozil and ox gunner, its not just sanchez or is he the only one that really matters.

8.) 11 Jul 2017 19:45:07
Doesn't look like Mesut is inundated with interest right now Steve mate so I think he will either agree a new deal or move to Turkey next summer.
Ox I think is virtually a done deal to Liverpool mate, they want him and he wants them and we are pretty much powerless to stop it unless we bite our noses off to spite our faces and I've heard of people with a double chin but never a double nose so we can't really bite it off twice with Alexis and Alex can we ;-)

08 Jul 2017 17:01:10
Just continuing a thread what you lot started about Jack Wilshere.

I have never seen the fascination.

I wouldn't even put him in my top 100 all time Arsenal players.

dagenham gunner

1.) 08 Jul 2017 17:25:45
You may think Jack plays like a potato but one day you will veiw him as a bag of freshly cooked perfectly salt and vinegared chips.

Unfortunately mate, he's more like yesterday's mashed potatoes.

6.) 08 Jul 2017 20:37:28
Sorry Sanogo lol.

7.) 08 Jul 2017 22:23:12
At the end of the day you can't keep holding a spot for someone who doesn't show up to play, it's detrimental to the team and building a squad. Jackie boy is Arsenal through and through, but don't see it happening for him. we all tried, non?
