Is Ed025 one of the only people on here that has got the courage to say it as it is.
Thank You Ed025.You and I must have the same TV and same glasses on, not the Rose Coloured ones.
Someone has to grow a pair and drop Rooney.
Even the United fans are getting sick of him.
Go on their site and read the comments.
All the nonsense i'm reading about he brings something to the squad. like what? Waving his arms around. He is effing crap for England and not that much better for United.

Goal every other game. that's what he brings. I would let Giroud wave his hands around like the lump he is if he scored 1 every 2 games. or Walcott who is like 1 in 4.
There's a difference between rose tinted glasses and having unrealistic expectations.

Thats a fair comment pasty, want do people want from a player who earns £300,000 a week, a corner that stays in play long enough to get into the box EVERY TIME HE TAKES ONE?
I dunno peoples expectations hey!

The big decision on Rooney should have been made 2 years ago, if we'd have left him out of the squad for Euro 2012 after stupily getting himself banned for the first two games things may well be different now, either he would have sulked and refused to play for England again or grown up and accepted he was treated the same as the rest of the squad.
Prima dona status at both utd and England have done him few favours other than financial

How many of those goals have been in the world cup when we need him most.

5.) 15 Jun 2014
HA the corner was priceless. but I also remember another United player whos penalty was equally as bad. He had quite a quiet career. Man u, Real, AC Mian, PSG .
Rooney isn't worth 300k, but then again was Bendtner worth 54k a week.
We're a poor football nation, Who look good because of the foreign players in our club teams. Then when we have to do it on big stage as Englishmen people are shocked when we are poor.
We played the best I have seen for a long time. We are not going to win the world cup. let's just enjoy it.
We are Arsenal fans, the cub most used to disappointment, so nothing new for us so far

Goldboy

I'm not going to completely disagree with you. The last couple of seasons at club level Rooney has been disappointing. But last season he still managed 17 league goals.
On the international front, Rooney has had immense pressure to be a "saviour" since his outstanding Euro 2004 appearances. Last night he was poor, even with a great assist. He was players out of position. He should have been played centrally in my opinion.

Is he over rated. Looking at his whole career absolutely not. His goals per game ratio speaks for itself.

There's obviously a general dislike to Rooney that you have. I'm not particularly fond of him either but iv seen him tear strips out of Arsenal defences a few times in his career to appreciate he does have real quality. He's paid massively but that is down to his vulture of an agent.

There has been links with arsenal and Rooney before but thankfully you can sleep well knowing he will never play for Arsenal.

Fair comment pasty and to be fair mate I thought on the whole England did really well and compared to 2010 looked like world beaters.
Did you know! England have had the most shots in the tournament so far?
Regardless of this tournament the future with the youngsters looks the best it has for a long time

I know exactly where your coming from ed025!

10.) 15 Jun 2014
Spot on Gunner62. We could have a really exciting team out. Barkley Ox and Sterling Behind Sturridge would be exciting to see.
I didn't realise about the shots for England, But I would certainly take some more of that. So far World cup has been great.

I'm enjoying it to pasty and hope we progress to the QF as would be great for the youngsters and Roy who I think has been good for us, given youth a chance just when it was needed most.
But if we don't get out of the group but play like we did last night the players won't need to sneak back into the country like last time
