People forget Vieira always had a Petit, Edu or Gilberto

He was not a DM or a pivot player, ever

So when people say we need a Vieira, they're wrong, he wouldn't fit into this midfield, or else Rambo would have to sit

Rambo does now what Vieira did for us

Hence we don't need Khedira, he's not a Gilberto. That's Xabi Alonso for them

Hence I do not understand players like Bender being looked at, when Rolfes is their DM

Inler, Gonalons and Javi Martinez are more the players that play the position we need

Those are the types we ought to be looking at to replace Arteta. Hence my disappointment in not getting Cesc, who was born to play that role like a Pirlo.

Put simply - yes - yes - and yes again. You are totally right.

So, you're saying that there's no way Khedira or Bender could play the holding role, because they don't necessarily play it at their current club? I'm pretty sure, if asked , either could handle the concept. Not so sure Cesc could, to an acceptable standard. You think about his passing game, sure, but, he's laying the hard tackles, breaking up play and dropping back to cover full backs? That doesn't fill me with confidence. As for the Pirlo comparison, doesn't he play alongside Vidal, Pogba and Marchisio? Seems similar to the point you make about Bender and Khedira, just saying.

Do you remember Cescs back heel against Barca in the champs league cost us a goal and arguably the match he is not that player mate too creative to be playing DM

Outback, yes, I do not believe Khedira is at the technical level to play the pivot, I watch him a lot

He's energy and industry

Hence he has Schweini or even Lahm help on Germany and either Xabi or Llarra at Madrid

Baz, yes I remember that one bad back heel. Name me another bad back heel? Why do our fans remember the one bad play?

How about the other matches over 7 years he was outstanding at it?

Ok USG,
I hear your point on Khedira, but, surely, you could say the same for Cesc, except, he's all technicality and not enough energy and industry. If you're saying Khedira is not good enough to play DM, then Cesc DEFINITELY isn't.

The point I'm trying to make is, you're saying Khedira shouldn't be signed as he's not a true DM, then you say we should get Cesc. He's definitely not a true DM.

Yes I remember lots and lots of amazing matches from Cesc none of them involve Cesc defending unfortunately ;)

Bad, check out Cesc's very first highlight,

The strip of Vieira leading to an Henry goal vs Juve

I'd say ball winning and defending were never a problem

You guys do realize Cesc played the pivot for us for quite a few years right?

Outback, Cesc doesn't need that speed. He's our Pirlo. Jack and Rambo are the ones that need to be running endlessly, which they can and have done
