A defence for Spursman.

Tottenham hotspur have had success since they were founded in 1882 (4 years earlier then us.)

In their illustrious past they have reached the pinnacle of English football on two occasions. Which is by no means an easy feat.
(In doing so they share the same achievements as Burnley, Preston Northend, Portsmouth and Derby county. All well run traditional clubs i'm sure you'll agree. With this they only find themselves one behind Leeds, Huddersfield and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Once Tottenham are able to double their success they will match Newcastle and Sheffield Wednesday with 4, and then will only be behind Sunderland by two, and Everton and Aston villa by three.)

Tottenham have achieved all this and more having to manage a great club year in year out under a extreme drop in tempreture due to a large shadow that hangs over their well managed club.
With club representatives and players coming and going throughout the years due to repetetetetive strain injury in their necks. As looking up so often isn't condusive to a healthy working environment.

Unfortunately It has led to "little sibling syndrome" from within certain elements of the historic club that can appear a little bitter. There are individuals that in desperation try to fill the void in their disappoinments at their club, by attacking bigger more successful clubs. This ultimately is futile and unfortunately will not bring them long term fulfillment. The only thing that does that is success from their own club, and with that the wait continues. I have no doubt it will come, in mine or dags's granddaughter's lifetime.

However the future is bright. With the creation of a 56,000 seated stadium (Only 4,000 less then the Emirates) they are on the right path. They will find it easier to get through those years as they will not have the pressure of remaining in the Champions league. We had a financial plan which involved us still being able to build a new stadium if we were unable to get Champions league football on two out of the five years. Thankfully for Tottenham not achieving Europa league status will not interfere with their stadium plans.

If you want to know what makes great clubs, it's great individuals. On that note may I say what a wonderful job Daniel Levy has done. The ability to employ woeful managers, and to sack the only one who gets the great club Champions league, and for him still to keep his job is a testament to him as an individual. A remarkable man. I think all of us at this site hopes Daniel keeps up the consistant level of mediocrity which is difficulty to achieve in the 21st century. Where are your Huddersfields, Sheffield Wednesdays and Preston North ends now?

Think on gooners! And have a little more respect! You are welcome here anytime Spursman

P.S Congrats dags. If she doesn't turn out a Gooner then you've failed in your duties has a grandfather. The yellow ribbon is in the post for her :-)
