He also didn't know that Giroud would be injured till the New Year.

He says that he was purchased but as soon a Giroud is Fit again he will be back out wide. Sanchez worked his socks off fair play but he is just not up to the physicality required for that position in the EPL. You need someone that can hold the ball up with back to goal and bring others into play. You also need to be physcically strong in the air which Sanchez is not and offer real box presence.

I fear We are going to struggle without Giroud up top to get hold of the ball. Sanchez or Podolski for that matter will get bullied out of a lot of games in the EPL if either are played centrally up top as the fulcrum point. Sonogo although more physically up to it is not the best technically with his touch to hold onto that ball either.

Walcott again like Sanchez is best running into space feeding off a big guy.

We need another striker for me that can do Giroud's role even when he was fit I still felt we needed competion for that role.

Bony might be good option perhaps a season loan with a view to a possible purchase at the end of season will be a good option.

Zigic like Sonogo not good enough and you can forget us spending 20Mill on a loan for Falcoa even though that would really give us a massive boost to our chances.

I disagree Ryan.

Get what your saying, girouds all about hold up play.

But Liverpool thrived last year with two forwards very much in the mindset of facing the opposition.

Alexis is a very strong player ball to feet -
He's lightning quick, explosive acceleration, low centre of gravity and he's got sublime control.

As long as it's played to feet he doesn't need to hold it up because he can make space for himself - something giroud has never done.

Like others have said, him with Theo could be deadly.

Defenders hate pace, and well have two blisteringly quick guys who can score playing off each other.

The thing is Liverpool are very much a counter attacking side and bring teams on to them therefore rely on pace and more direct balls over the top.

We are not like we once were with Henry etc such a counter attack side we are a possesion side and face teams that drop very deep so there is not so much space in behind.

We therefore need a player up top that will reliably keep hold of the ball when it is pinged up to him or alternatly we go completly the other way and do a Barcarlona and play without any striker as such and all players attacking from depeer positions gving the oppostion CB's nobody to specifcially mark causing confusion.
