I know this has been asked before, but for the Wenger out brigade; who would do a better job?

The mighty Jurgen Klopp? Same guy whose team is closer to relegation than title? I'm confused because Wenger is often blamed for lacking tactical knowledge but how is Klopp different? His tactics are always the same, press high and work your socks off. I don't see how he would be better than Wenger. A talented manager for sure but imo not on the same level with Wenger.

Roberto Martinez? What has he exactly done to be considered as good as Wenger? Again, he definitely has talent but has he done enough to be our manager? I doubt it. He's similar to Wenger in good and bad. Their defense is even worse than ours and we have showed signs of improvement lately as Koscielny is coming back.

It's okay to want a change but would I push Wenger prematurely out for one of these men? No way. For me Wenger is still a fantastic manager. He has his flaws but the good still outweighs them. A year ago we all were praising him. Now apparently he has lost the plot (again).

For me there's only one manager in the world I would rather have and that is Pep Guardiola. He's a man who could do better in long-term and instead of replacing Wenger after this season with someone with lesser ability than both Wenger and Pep, I'd much rather wait until Wenger's time is up and Guardiola's contract runs out and then do everything to get him.

Well that's my view anyway.

{Ed001's Note - you need to do more research on Klopp and Pep. Pep has proved nothing, Klopp has proved himself year after year.}

Ed first of all you're right, I'm not the best person to tell what we should do. But still I stick to my opinions. Klopp is a great manager and yes he may have proved that year after year but so has Wenger. But I think Guardiola is superior to both. It's difficult to say though as he had a fantastic squad at Barcelona and now at Munich. But Barcelona has been in decline ever since he left. The way they pressed after losing the ball was particularly impressive while he was there and of course their passing was always sublime. Could he replicate that at Arsenal is of course a difficult question but I think with time he would simply do a better job than Klopp. I also have concerns with Klopp's style. For me it seems it's so demanding the players are getting injured. So how would our players last with that style in England?

That is the problem with trying to replace Wenger. In my opinion there are 4 possibilities:
1) Mourinho - Impossible!
2) Ancelotti - Hardly likely to leave Real for us!
3) Guardiola - Only if he is sacked or walks out
4) Simone - Does he speak English?

I think consistency in the long run is what is to be applauded.

Pep managed one of the best teams of all time in barcelona, had one of the best players of all time, and similar to mourinho in terms of moving before the team cycle finishes, he left the team on a high.

while it looks good on his CV, similar to mourinho, I would like to see him build team after team and compete year after year, not in 3 year cycles but longer.

klopp has had similar pressure to wenger to build year after year while players departed for more money and bigger clubs, same as arsenal have with their players.

ferguson never had that pressure with a club that never needed to make profits by selling players.

and I would say he was lucky to have the class of 92 for majority of his duration, a core which played with each other for decades to win him multiple titles.

Again i'm not taking away credit from fergie, the situation and cirumstances enabled him to instill his methods into his team. its evident how far they fell after he left.

Arsenal on the other hand have too many players who need a cuddle.

wengers loyalty to players has not been rewarded, and the fans showing frustrations in the open does not help the situation.

change of manager is not the answer, the players are clearly at fault. they talk too much, they pose for selfies, i'm not sure if they even take their injuries seriously.

to blame wenger is absurd, while he will shoulder the responsibility its more than one man behing the club.

the season is just half way through, and we may yet find ourselves in the top 4. while year on year we have been buying world class players, who joined us due to wenger, its those who showed promise and seem to have regressed that have let the team down.

Pep even said he failed to motivate the players in the end at barca and saw the right time to leave. he is clever though as manager but playing lahm and alaba not right back and left back is strange. also martinez for me one of best DM's in the world at centre back. hmm

i think them tactical moves actually have made bayern weaker

saying that i'd take him, klopp or simeone

Doesnt have to be a big name. Someone whose young, in touch with the modern game and has knowledge of strong foreign leagues will do, much like wenger when he joined.

Simeone is a huge name and a big deal. top player and known also from the trip from beckham

I agree with most of the comments on this post and pro Wenger or not I think we would all agree that no knee jerk reaction is needed and that when we do replace Wenger it needs to be with a manager who has a WINNING mentality, a Manager who HAS managed a club with Expectation. Moyes, Martinez, Koeman none are right.
Klopp, Pep, Carlo, Mancini this is the calibre we should be going for after Wenger.
For me though the problem is not Wenger's Managerial ability, for me he IS STILL one of the top managers out there. However what I believe has happened is that after all the great he has done for the club the Board has gone soft and stopped demanding more from him. i'm proud that arsenal is a club that give players, manager a chance however not at the cost of them losing their hunger to exceed expectation. the board should realise that Diaby should have not been given his last contract, player that are not good enough and have had their chance to prove themselves should be gone, i'm not saying tell him who to buy but to demand more from him, let him run the team not the club. if that makes sense.

I'm going to throw in a name rarely mentioned in connection to the job but I do think it has weight - Remi Garde.

Garde was one of AW first signings at AFC along with Vieira, Grimandi and Petit and was brought in as a player AW felt comfortable working with (many managers do this). He played 2 seasons before retiring thru injury then some years later became Lyon manager. He recently left the club due to personal/family reasons but at 48, still has many years ahead of him. Under Garde Lyon played and set up like a mini-Arsenal, similar formation and player style, most will know AW has been linked with Lyon players such as Grenier and Gourcuff in the last couple of seasons, Lacerzette will be a EPL player too before soon. Whilst David Dein was at the club he recommended publicly that Garde would one day coach at the club and whilst Dein is (sadly) no longer here, it still says volumes.

All the above names have credence in their own way, Simeone perhaps more than others imo due to his ability of taking an under achieving team and turning them into a European force but I have a feeling AW will go upstairs and in a move similar to Alex Ferguson, have a huge say on his successor and pick an ex-player such as Garde to take over.

This time last year we were having the same debate as we are now iceman. Now there's just more on the out team

This time last year we were top of the league Sheeny.

And on topic: no, avb is a massive step down from wenger. Some of you may finally realise this when you see the job offers he gets when he leaves us.
