I've made the call to play Rambo in a holding role for a while now.

He could do that job if only he wasn't tempted to attack as often.

Rambo is actually one of the best finishers in our entire squad so I see him as more 'box to box' but he lacks a little in pace to do that job against top teams

Rambo would need to be part of a central pair of DM as part of a 4 4 2 as he loves getting forward and lacks a little discipline even though he understands his responsibilities.

Agree with SY4 and 337

Honestly I disagree. He can make good challenges but lacks the positional aspect. At the end of the day, a DM has to really stick to his defensive tasks and can only get forward rarely. Look at Schneiderlin, Matic etc, they will never go forward unless they know someone's covering. Soton can do it a bit more because Wanyama and Schneiderlin cover each other. We could have something like Ramsey and Wilshere but I just cannot see one covering the other - they both dash forward if we're attacking and their primary skills are in those capacities. Seriously - look how deep the DM's are when teams are attacking Chelsea or Soton, they are almost in line with the CB's. players like Ramsey will not stay there for large parts of a game. Wenger can keep shuffling around but nothing will beat bringing in a bespoke DM who knows his job and sticks to it.

{Ed025's Note - i agree oleg..

I may need to clarify here. I actually posted a link to an article that Eds didn't include which is fair enough. Basically, it put it in better words what I've been trying to say. No, Ramsey isn't and never will be a DM in the Gilberto mold. However, in a holding midfield-quarterback role, ala Schweinsteiger, Kroos or Modric, I can see him being well suited. He has a tremendous engine, he's a decent tackler, has an excellent short passing game with decent pace. Yes, he'd need to learn positioning, but I think he has the smarts to make it work. In fact, he has actually excelled in the deep lying position before, back in 2012 I believe.

{Ed001's Note - it might just have been taken out by the spam filter mate, if it was a certain TV firm that are worldwide and have a betting arm, they are a nightmare for spamming links across our sites, so any links tend to any of their sites are usually automatically removed.}
