Big changes appear to have begun at the club with backroom staff being released.
On the playing side reports of negotiations starting for players in much needed positions; a keeper, a pair of CB's and a DM.
Reports of Leno in goal. Two out of Sokratis Evans and Soyuncu at CB. Seri at DM.
I am pleased to hear of the attention to the CB's as we are in desperate need. Mertesacker now retired was clearly past his best and hardly played last season. Koscielny will miss most of nest season and had looked a shadow of his former best whilst playing with a chronic achilles injury. Chambers simply isn't good enough and Mustafi hasn't worked out. I would like to see us sell Chambers and Mustafi. We would then have 2 new CB's. plus talented young CB's in Mavropanos and Holding.
Arteta is due for talks tomorrow, so perhaps an announcement on Friday or shortly after.
At first I was against appointing Arteta, but with my top 2 choices Allegri and Simeone not available, there wasn't an outstanding candidate, although I am a fan of Benitez, perhaps at 58 he wasn't the man for the job. Arteta has done a fine job as assistant to Guardiola at City. If this is the appointment, let's do our part as supporters and get behind Arteta.

Good post RG

But did pep need much assisting? With a squad like that not much coaching needed to be given lol.

Hi Banbury. Top managers rely upon having good coaches who carry out their instructions. Arteta will have learnt a lot under two great managers Guardiola and Wenger. What is to be seen is whether he can make the transition from being a coach to becoming a manager at a big club such as ours. The infrastructure at the club is looking good, with Gazidis, Sanllehi and Mislintat to provide support to the new manager. They have cleared out many of the backroom staff to allow Arteta, if he is the new manager, to bring in his own staff. It was interesting that Lewin and Colbert have been released, they were part of the old team that were around when Arsenal suffered many injuries. Last season with medical and conditioning staff that had been brought in over the last couple of seasons, the muscular injuries and recuperation times lessened.

Just had a look to see who says where having talks with Artetta tomorrow, seems Eds Ornstein and BBC still in the dark and only one source knows about it :-)
I wonder who else will be at the talks? Ronaldo Messi and Neymar are my guess.

Is serri a dm i'm not convinced seems very similar to xhaka which is not a good thing to many pretty passing midfielders in the squad need a guy who will do the dirty work.

Dont want seri we need a beast. simple as. especially if we go 2 up front which i believe we need to nx season. If there is a way we can get laca and auba working in tandem with another goal threat in left wing and ramsey get forward it could be irresistable. but they need defensive cover. ideally a destroyer with huge physicality and one that can pass with accuracy. Not many about though.
