Apparently, we have offered £6m for Ashley Williams & Swansea want somewhere between £10-12m. At 28 this quality CB must be worth £10-12m. He is used to the PL, so will settle in easily. My only concern is that I have only seen him play on the left side of the CB partnership, when we need a right-sided CB to cover for Mertesacker, unless of course, Vermaelen will be out far longer than anticipated, so Wenger wants Williams as a second choice for the left-hand side.
The mounting injuries of typical of the club. A friend who is a sports physio, was of the opinion that the players at the club are not conditioned properly, hence the constant injuries.

Hey Robbie,
Why should Williams cost 10-12 pounds?

I agree he's a good defender. But Sakho would cost 8-10 pounds, who is of same class and a lot younger as well.

There needs to be a complete change right through from the Board to the Manager and also the Physio Team. I too have heard a similar criticism from the medical team at another Pro club so they can't all be wrong. It is bad enough going in to the first game of the season with a thread bare squad, after all there are 38 games to play - however what will happen if any of our only 4 defenders get injured when we face a tricky tie in Turkey? This total lack of preparation for the coming season is shocking and AW should go now.

I assume Williams is to cover for Verm as Kos is right sided but can play both. When all fit Mert/Kos right Verm/Williams left. Kos also started life as a RB so could provide cover for this position as Verm does at LB.

I think your physio friend is talking rubbish. The team are conditioned by some of the best in the world. Football is a contact sport, impact injuries are inevitable.

Non impact injuries are always likely in athletes pushing their bodies to the max. Look how many times in the Olympics athletes pick up injuries when they are at the peak of their conditioning, just from pushing their bodies too far.

I agree that non-impact injuries may occur but the problem at Arsenal is that minor injuries turn into major ones all the time. How long was Rosicky and Wilshere out for? How comes Diaby is always injured? Why is Vermaelen always out for lengthy periods? It has to be something to do with the training regime. We go into the start of this season with Sagna, Rosicky, Vermaelen, Walcott, Diaby, Ramsey, Arteta, Sonogo, Monreal and Ryo all carrying some kind of injury - that is more than a 3rd of our squad and that just can not be right.

Il buy sakho for us and sod the 8 to 10 pounds il pay 100 pound for him haha

6.) 16 Aug 2013
My concern with Wenger is that we always offer well below the asking price, giving us little chance in getting the desired player

7.) 16 Aug 2013
To be honest we don't get many more injuries then other clubs do, stop being so dramatic.

8.) 17 Aug 2013
We have completely redesigned our training and conditioning.

If our players get injuries, it isn't because of conditioning. The best run clubs in the world still get injuries--stop being so dramatic. Plus, these latest ones are all overhyped anyway, only real knocks are to Monreal/Vermaelen
