People seem to be bringing up other clubs and some of their players performing well after the world cup so our players not having the required match fitness should no longer be an excuse.

No one has the same body and some people's body naturally will take longer to recover and come back into prime conditions, that's just the way it is. To use Giroud as an example, he is a big strong guy who has more muscle mass than a lot of strikers out there possess, naturally being a bigger guy there is more muscle mass to recover, therefore it makes perfect sense to me why he may not be match fit.

Just my take on it.
He had a bad game, I believe he has shown us plenty of good ones in the past. Give the guy a break, he'll come good, having a bad game will only increase his desire to come back to his best.

Having said all this, I would still love someone either to back him up or better him as we saw him get tired last season and dip form, but there are positions more pressing to be filled at the time being.
There's a long season ahead, our team is better than last season, let's be positive. COYG!

Good post . sensible also

Giroud has 40 goals in 79 starts, might be 80 now, that isn't bad at all

Good post Sydney mate, Giroud didn't wake up yesterday morning dreaming of being the main target of everyone's dissatisfaction, he would have wanted to be PL he man who got a hatrick and all but assured us of qualification.
It was a very bad day at the office, sadly they happen
