We have to win at Swansea on Saturday. I genuinely think if we can do that, we'll qualify for the CL. We have a pretty reasonable run in after.

Obviously it'll be a pretty tough game, especially considering the morale the team must have right now, but this team just needs to believe in itself a little more.

We will get thumped by bayern so hard that the swansea game could easily end up as another loss. Its standard that arsenal don't capitalise on other teams losing points.

Don't be too optimistic Daniel.

Yeh sorry m8. US GOONER hasn't given one of his inspirational speeches recently, so I am losing hope. {Ed007's Note - He will be working on the new El Papa's acceptance speech.}

Spurs have to play Chelsea, Man City and Everton away. All those games are potential slip ups. Chelsea are fragile aswell. A win against Swansea could do wonders.

Greetings and salutations my fellow Gooners,

Today I decided to address a couple of my favourite blokes on this site who I respect in opinion but disagree with regards to stance, one Mr Champagne Charlie and the other Mr Metal Gooner.

Gentlemen I've read your many comments and allow me to begin by saluting your passion. However the one thing I have never seen from either of you is actual proof to support your many claims about the club and in particular Arsene Wenger.

I have spent the past 20 years of my life working in a consulting capacity for some of the worlds greatest brands, clubs and individuals. In that time I have had the great pleasure to have met with Arsene Wenger and have also worked on matters pertaining specifically to Mr Kroenke and his respective franchises. As such my perspective is unique and its perhaps this reason that I find much of what both of you have conjured up as truth to be false in actuality.

Allow me to state emphatically that Mr Wenger is responsible for the tactics of our performance and has every right to be questioned in this regard, I for one have many questions to ask but the club is run and every decision regarding matters of spending fall exclusively on Mr Kroenke and the board.

Consistently I have heard the both of you discuss our on field issues and have tried in many instances to create a correlation between that and the financial management of the club. At the heart of many of your beliefs is that Arsene has had money, has not spent that money when he has it has been spent poorly.

Mr Kroenke has 100% influence on Arsenal, The Rams, The Avalanche and The Nuggets. To think anything else is supposition. If one examines the specific dynamics of each of these clubs they will find a common themes. The first is that financial stability is the most important wish for each of his clubs. Revenue/Profit are the number one agenda for each of his clubs. As such Arsene Wenger is invaluable. The second is that each of his clubs will never make decisions based on public outcry but rather what's best for the overall dynamic for the clue, an example Ryan O' Reilly was signed to an offer sheet and matched immediately by the Avalanche despite their reluctance because it was what was best for the club, Stephen Jackson will test free agency because the club weighed the cost benefit analysis and allowed him to leave, RVP was sold because he went public with his demands and held the club hostage. Decisions at each of his clubs are never knee jerk reactions to the public. Thirdly, he has an affinity for stability amongst coaching and managment personnel. Whether it be Vermeil, Karl, Wenger, each has been allowed to leave accordingly under their terms because he understands the importance of loyalty. Ask yourself if you had the choice of being a manager between Chelsea's billion and Arsenals prudence where would you choose to go? I ask only because Arsene's time will come, when it does comes time to attract our next manager how favourable will the stability of our club look for potential candidates?

Charlie, Metal, I love your passion but much of your beliefs are simply based on media, your own conclusions and our recent performances. All of Mr. Kroenkes clubs are managed with him being silent (to the public) but not absent! Has Arsene Wenger's time at the club come? Only if Mr. Kroenke chooses, until that day don't you feel that you need to turn down some of your biases towards Arsene? What he has done for our club is nothing short of brilliant and unparalleled in sports hence the demand for his services, and most importantly judging a man on only certain assumptions and half facts is simply not fair and I personally believe he has done more than his share to deserve our respect until the time the owner decides otherwise!

"What he has done for our club is nothing short of brilliant and unparalleled in sports"

Up until 2005 this may have been true. I couldn't really care is SS stayed because at the end of the day it wasn't he who mis-spent nearly £100m in 2 summers, it was Wenger. It isn't he who chooses the formation, it is Wenger. It isn't he who plays players everywhere but their position, it's Wenger. It isn't he who has no tactics, no tailored preparation for specific teams, which is why certain players almost always score against us, it's not because of Stan that players come here and flop, and it's not because of Stan that the coaching at Arsenal seems to be seriously lacking - my main reason for believing that, aside from whatever I may have heard or read, is that we have had the exact same problems every year for the last 6 years. The man behind whether or not that changes and match analysis gets listened to is Wenger. Stewart Robson love him or hate him said that he got utterly fed up with producing reports for Wenger and feedback on obvious mistakes only for Wenger to completely disregard it. This has nothing to do with Stan. Rather, if we had a manager who could adapt, pick a formation and a team and make good signings we'd have easily won stuff with Stan in control. So whilst I may want Stan out for various reason that doesn't mean I support Wenger any more. I mean don't get me wrong I am behind him for the rest of the season every game always have been but I want him gone at the end of the season and STILL after all this time the only thing you have ever said to me in argument for is talk about stuff he achieved with a team that pretty well didn't need coaching, and a team so strong it would probably STILL win the league!

This is 2013 and counting not 2004/5.

Agree9 Disagree3

Dick vermil hasn't been the coach of the St Louis Rams for a number of years. Kroneke has had 5 head coaches since 2005.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Mate fair enough you seem to have a Better understanding of the behind the scene mechanics of how our great club is run but all your clever talk doesn't change the fact that the current situation is diabolical and getting worse by the day. Who can say 100 percent who is at fault but 1 thing I am pretty certain of at this stage is that Wenger is no longer the answer to our problem

Finally a post that seems to have some substance and a source. Reading CC and MG's posts anger me. I struggle to find a source to their 'info' and also feel that they are unfortunately very similar to a lot of the media and more unfortunately the pocket of so called fans at the emirates that I hear booing and berating our beloved Arsenal. Get behind the team, the manager and the club! In Arsene We Trust.

i want to start of by saying what a fantastic passionate post once again you have written.
i hate coming on here slagging of the club and manager and the way are club is being run.
i get a fair bit of abuse for my opinion and to be honest I was going to give the site a miss for a while but when I see a supporter like you posting it gives me the encouragement to keep posting.
i do not agree with a word you say but I love your enthusiasm as I am sure you love mine.

Couldn't agree more with the original post. That's not to say all is rosey at the club but rather that I think people can get quite extreme in their negativity - all to easy if you forget wider context of the club or think Wenger suddenly doesn't know what he is doing. The Club's problems have been down to the context. Wenger has done pretty amazingly well considering his resources.

Mate you like it or not in reality wenger time has come, he has massively failed to fix your problems, in fact problems at arsenal are getting bigger and bigger, from winning trophys to trophy drought fans accepted, then finishing top4 was wengers target fans accepted now top4 looks difficult infact Arsenal will find difficult to finish top4 every year from now.

Wenger is not getting younger neither his getting better, his time is near to exit then ever, as age is not in his side then why not bring another manager now with fresh ideas, wenger is not going to stay for life is he? One day he is going to leave, then better to bring manager now then wait for wenger to call a day and find your club in more turmoil.

Agree2 Disagree1

Gentlemen,

Interesting dialogue, Charlie, cheers for your acknowledgement, the passion of our supporters is what makes the club great!

Metal, again you fail to understand, SS has complete decision making prowess, so ask yourself again, why despite all of Arsene's transgression has he still remained employed?

Why has PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and many others continue to seek his services? Why is that despite his mediocrity in performance comparitively speaking that we have grown as a brand, been competitive on all fronts and have increased our financial viability while still playing our brand of football. Do you think perhaps this is why he remains employed?

The performance on the pitch while not in line of our expectations is not the sole determining factor in deciding the benefit of a manager. It is clear that SS still values Arsene, so as to my point, would it not be beneficial to turn down the rhetoric and support our greatest club manager ever?

I know I'm going to get a few disagrees for this one. But I was a bit gutted for RVP on Tuesday. I know he doesn't play for us anymore, but it would have been great to see him at Wembley in May.

Believable3 Unbelievable63

He can still get tickets

Agree45 Disagree2

Is that you Nasri?

Agree39 Disagree0

You never know if we pull off a miracle this week he can come and watch us! I'll even buy him a ticket.

337

Agree20 Disagree0

Can't help feeling RVP has taken his Arsenal inferiority complex with him. When Rooney plays with him, Rooney takes on the weight of expectation mantle - leaving RVP free. Playing without Rooney he seems to lack confidence and sharpness. In short - still needs his hand held, which is why Rooney will not be sold in the near future.

Agree9 Disagree7

I wasn't at all gutted - I completely understand why he left, I totally respect his reasons, I just don't like him at all any more and I absolutely hate Man U. I was not supporting them just because they're and EPL side. I couldn't care less about that. I hate Man U, hate RVP, and was very happy to see them knocked out of the CL. They'll win the league by a landslide amount of points and possibly a cup and that makes me sick enough.

Agree26 Disagree5

Metal gooner. if you understand RVP for leaving etc etc how can you suddenly hate him?, he's exactly the same bloke/player as he was at arsenal? it doesn't make any sense at all.

AD

Agree7 Disagree10

I did'nt like him even when he played for us, he was always a r*nd.

Agree7 Disagree1

Grow up!

Agree2 Disagree4

That's a very good question AD. I have no idea. But what I do know is just because I respect his reasons for going doesn't mean I have to like him.

Agree6 Disagree2

To be honest I really liked the fact van persie was a goal machine for us last season, we depended on him and he delivered almost every time. However, i've never been a fan of him personally, or the way he carries himself on the pitch. Overly aggressive/arrogant. bit of a liability.

Agree3 Disagree2

Well he's allowed to think in an arrogant manner. he is aware how good he is. but come the big games I have never seen him. so he can stuff it.

messi and falcao any day any time of the week.

PATHETIC! Just like I thought. You just can't appreciate a proper player. You lot give Arsenal fans a bad name

Anyone see the "an evening with David Dein" article in the onlinegooner?
Surprised I didn't see it mentioned ( unless I missed it) or see anything in the press about it.

Also Ed. I saw one of you guys post a few weeks back that they expected Dein to get a job at the FA. was this the job David Gill has now got?

Thanks {Ed029's Note - Sorry mate but it was probably Ed2 that said about Dein so we won't be able to find out.}

The onlinegooner is a very depressing place, wenger used to get slagged off even when we were doing well.

Still miss Cesc.

He is happy at Barcelona and good on him for all the years of service he gave to us,

But I still believe he could have had a much better career at Arsenal. Trophy wise probably not, but he would be a far better player if he stayed here. We adored him, he should've thought twice before leaving tbh.

A sincere apology and a cheap transfer fee, and I would also take Nasri back (youre probably thinking 'what? Are you mental?')
But seriously, imagine a midfield 3 of Wilshere, Fabregas and Nasri, with Cazorla Podolski and Walcott as a front 3.

Opposing defences wouldn't stand a chance.

Speaking of defences, we need a better defensive coach.
We have good players. Gibbs, Monreal, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Sagna, Jenkinson, Mertesacker.
With the right coaching and tactics this would be a beast defence. We don't need new players, we just need new ideas.

Nick.

Believable23 Unbelievable3

I. d much rather we purchased a more clinical and consistant striker. Waclott is not a number 1 striker. but yes Nasri would of been some player if he had of stayed, so would cesc. unfortunately foreign players don't have loyalty with English clubs

Agree11 Disagree1

Because we all know in the same position we would stay at Dortmund or Sevilla or Roma if we were in the same position and Arsenal came knocking

1404

Agree1 Disagree3

Moving from one of those teams to Arsenal isn't the same position. As an Englishman I would move 'home'. Samir didn't move 'home'.
So your not really comparing to same position. infact that's a whole new position. and one totally irrelevant to this story

Agree4 Disagree0

What are you thinking. bring Nasri back!! He could had had it all at Arsenal, I agree we would have been better with him but he chose the cash. he didn't want to become a legend

Chris

Agree4 Disagree1

What we need to be doing is trying to find a great winger or the next Mata/Silva who both wipe the floor with Nasri.

Agree6 Disagree0

Clearly wasn't talking about Nasri though. Jeez

1404

Mata for me is just sensational. no one in the epl compares how good this guy is. he just dictates every game.

nasri can go to monaco. earn more cash and die. I would very much like to attend his funeral and spit on his grave.

He reminded me of a family guy moment when Peter rubs his knee moaning ooooww ooh ooooooowwwhh! Sure he's fine tho!

I actually remember the first time I saw that Family Guy scene, I was almost crying with laughter! I thought Borini last week reminded me of that.
