Flamini to re-sign for Arsenal on a free transfer as a DM cover for diaby. He is currently training with the squad.

Daniel

1.) Bin bag hunting again.

2.) What is your source? It's a great rumour but I'm not entirely sure it's got wheels considering the way he departed, the same berk that let him go through his refusal to negotiate a new contract is the same berk not making the signings today.
Arsenal could have dominated the EPL if The Invincibles had been handled better. But hey-ho, AFC finances are sound and the 'Old School-Boys' mob are still raking it in.
£7. 5M p/a, with nothing to show for it, if that were you or me or any 'normal' business, our ass is toast.

3.) So a out of contract DM a out of contract ST. an I can prob put money on us losing out on these deals as wenger will stall or not pay wages. only new signing at arsenal will be the new tea lady in the cafe

4.) If he can keep his injuries at bay I wouldn't be against us bringing him in, especially on a free. He knows the playing style and philosophy of the club.

At 29 he's no spring chicken but he'd provide good rotation with Arteta and Milan were willing to offer him a new contract.

Feels a bit of a cop out though and I'd still prefer to see someone like Lars Bender brought in for the long term.

lol! I posted bout this earlier but it's was on twitter, saying asked to train for fitness whilst looking for an england club, also he'd be a free transfer. my thoughts is if we are desperate enough then he'd be a quick but before the window shuts

At the very start of the summer, Koscielny came out and said he would leave Arsenal if they didn't match his own ambitions to be competitive

http://tinyurl.com/mbt3w9u

Now that this transfer window is over, and Arsenal's season is pretty much over before it even started -

What do you see happening with Koscielny, will this be his last year, or could you even see him force a move THIS transfer window?

Its not looking good.

Daniel

1.) As I've pointed out to Stoner on several occasions, it could be a matter of time before Jack says the same thing

2.) Its like people believing the Mayan Calender all over again! Losing 1 match is not the end of days. Get behind the team!

{Ed022's Note - Of course its not the end of days. However, it does highlight the lack of strength, quality and direction in the current squad. I will support Arsenal through thick and thin. However, it doesn't stop me being frustrated with the current situation...}

do you think wenger would re-sign Nasri if he had a chance?

Personally, Nasri is the last person I would ever want to see back in an Arsenal shirt - but could you see it happening?

He seems to be a permanent fixture on the subs bench for man city. and now that they have jovetic.

What I would like to know is,

Seeing as Ivan gazidis was so keen to come out and promote our financial health, with talk about paying big and aiming high -

Why has he not come out again to explain what is or is not happening, now that we have played 1 lost 1, and signed absolutely nobody worth mentioning (no offense to Sanogo, bur come on)

Accountability. Who has some?

its great we are financially conscious, but its gone too far.
twitter is bad at the best of times, but seriously all you will see, are people making financial analysis of players wages/transfer fees and how it relates to what current players earn.

people want arsenal to be a great club, and want arsenal to have great players, but seemingly, they don't want arsenal to pay any money for them, ever.

arsene wenger has been to tight fisted for so god damn long it has genuinely infected the psyche of the arsenal fan.

Daniel

1.) So true mate, drives me nuts! Constantly saying to people why do you care what we spend? Is it your money/ You just worry about the team not improving and let the club worry about paying over the odds. There isn't a team in history that hasn't paid over the odds to land their man - except Arsenal.

2.) Just read somewhere that available cash this summer 150-160 million Arsenal

and 180-190 the other EPL teams.

does not paint a good picture of our transfer window, when we are sitting on that amount of money.

i really want Luis Gustavo, but I think that boat has sailed. when is the press conf?

{Ed022's Note - Wenger will have his normal Friday pre-match press conference tomorrow. What conference are you talking about?}

Arsenal Fan Observation

Ive noticed recently A lot of Arsenal fans are thinking more about the clubs financial stability, than its footballing ability. If your a fan that first thinks about the transfer fee and wage structure, and tries to justify paying/spending x amount on transfers, it is my opinion that you have totally lost touch with what the fans (you) are paying to watch.

Its clear that because the club, and Arsene in particular, have spent so long talking about value, and FFP, a lot of fans have forced this into their way of thinking aswell.

Just my opinion, but Arsenal fans especially, are spending far too much time thinking about how much money Arsenal FC have in the bank. Its really not important information for fans in my opinion. You don't get a seat in the emirates to sit and watch stock values.

cheers

Daniel

1.) Its just the way the club has spoken out in regards to various situations,

the fact that they have relied on FFP to give us a position of strength going forward.

However we are also aware of our transfer budget, if it really is 70 million.

Knowing that we have multiple positions to fill, we are all taking a punt and assuming that the reason player X was not signed as it would not fit into our transfer scheme.

at the end of the day we all make excuses due to our bias. but in reality, what matters is the fans signing to a trophy.

We want to have the best team. not the 4th best team. and when the club starts to win trophies, we won't look back on this period and say, it was due to this and that. it will be about the team in that moment that won the trophy.

as they say fans are as fickle as the players, and winning is all that matters in a world where results rule.

2.) I agree with the principle but not sure who you are actually accusing? Most fans seem to be saying that we are putting financial stability, or, even worse, profitability, ahead of footballing success. Those fans who do defend our club's austerity mainly say that being financially strong means we will be stable in the future and be able to maintain a good team and compete for trophies long-term. Maybe that's a flawed argument, but I haven't heard anyone saying that financial stability is a good thing in and of itself.

I personally think financial stability is good for football - it makes teams get the most out of their academies, players etc, and teams like City/Chelsea make football worse IMO. At the same time, as an Arsenal fan I think our financial behaviour is basically ridiculous and will go mental if we haven't properly invested in the team by September. At this stage, winning trophies has to be top priority -I don't think you'll find many gooners disagreeing with that.

3.) Well said mate could not have put it better myself. Yes we are a self sustained club but fans should not be bothered about the bank balance and be more worried about the trophy inbalance

4.) I think you have a point.

The majority of other clubs run at a constant loss every year, are in debt or they are subsided by a benefactor.

Either option is easy, any club can run at a loss and have loads of debt or find a "sugar daddy" owner.

But running a club properly is a lot harder. Arsenal do that and a lot of arsenal fans do feel proud about this.

After all, if we're honest, there isn't much else to be proud about recently is there, a part form being a well run club?

If the focus was on what we have won in recent seasons and a [genuine] buzz about what we might win this year, I think the 'being run well' would be a bonus not the sole object of some fans attention.

The club has done fantastically well to build a great new £450mil stadium and achieve financial stability, new commercial deals, etc.

'Off the pitch' the club has to be commended and that is something to be proud off.

However, it is now 'on the pitch' that the club needs to turn it's attentions towards. Which I think is what you're getting at and I totally agree.

The club needs to show its ambitious and why its so well run - to ultimate challenge and not just to be well run.

I don't won't to hear about the club saying they want to 'please the fans' with "big signings" - I want them to sign big players because *they want* to sign big players to compete and demonstrate that as a club they are as ambitious on the pitch as they are off the pitch.

This is supposed to be the window (escalation in financial firepower etc) when this can finally can happen.

I am (at least trying to be) patiently waiting for the club to show its hand.

Sorry for the long reply!

To be fair, your going to see both names touted about individually (as was in previous windows with El shar) this coming summer, so the idea that we buy both is probably as far fetched as us buying only 1 of them.

No doubt atleast 1 of the Ed's will say we are showing 'some interest' in both players, closer to the summer, as always.

cheers

To be fair, we can always get better than what we have - its just a case of spending the money that is required. Not wanting to spend a certain amount on a certain player, is far more likely than it just being a case of nobody available.

To respond to the person who last posted 'A very, very silly post'

Your correct in saying that people should not assume that players want to come to Arsenal. Indeed, it could be the case that every player Arsene wants, has no desire to join us.

However, we do have to spend money. Quite literally, we have no choice but to spend money on players to give our squad depth. We literally don't have enough players for the season. Therefore, people demanding for money to be spent are making perfectly acceptable demands.

The fact we are now in a position where we need to spend for the sake of it, is the fault of the board + Arsene Wenger. Ground Hog day at AFC.

Prices are not important, arsenal need players desperately, their value is now irrelevant at this stage. If they are available and they are decent, we will be in for them, because we have no choice.

Nobody is worth anything near what they are earning in the PL, so on that basis, how about we sign absolutely nobody and get rid of all the players we have.

He isn't worth 300k per week (nobody in the world is), but he has definitely been utd's best player this season by some margin.
On his day, he's the best english player currently playing. but those days are few and far between.

Fabregas gave a lot more to arsenal than van persie did. persie was fantastic for 1 season, and good for another. His injuries prevented him from giving us more. but, he left at the first opportunity. Fabregas left after giving us atleast 5 great seasons, and he went back to his original parent club. Big difference.

Matuidi/pogba, power and directness we need in midfield to replace arteta and flamini in due course. 1 of those would be a great addition

Ozil should always play the no.10 role. If that means wilshere can't play, then so be it. can't force it

Too many fans making the assumption we will beat Manchester United because they are not playing well.

We are not playing well either.

We never beat man utd. We won't beat them tomorrow.

Then let's see the social media meltdown.

cheers
