Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

I'm back with another theory. This time on Theo's place, Ramsey's new role and Sanchez's role next season. Of course, this could me being nutty.

Giroud looks to be our main striker for the foreseeable future, well into next season as well. And if he keeps up this form, why not? But he needs the right support to make sure the attack has good balance and all the attributes a front 3 needs.

Excluding Giroud's spot, there's a spot open on each wing. Each winger needs to be have different attributes. One should be best off the ball and the other should be creative with the ball. So, this could be why Ramsey (direct) is on the wing now, and Ozil (creative) was shunted to the left during the season.

Now, Walcott is the former. He's quick and pretty clinical. He can run and finish. Great! But what he can't do is dribble past players and spot great passes. This is what makes him one-dimensional. So, to complement him...

The other winger must be someone who is great at running at defenses with the ball. Sanchez can definitely do that, but has lost the ball often and his final pass hasn't been that great of late. And in his last season at Barca, his runs and clinical finishing gave him a lot of goals and assists.

So, Walcott's place next season depends on whether Arsene Wenger can find that other creative player. If he does, Sanchez will take Walcott's role and the new guy will be the creative forward.

So, in my head, this theory explains why Wenger wanted Draxler, moved Ozil wide and is now looking at Dybala. And maybe even put in a bid for Reus last summer (rumored). So, if the right player is available, Walcott might be moving out. I'm not sure, where that places Chambo, though. On the bench?

Wengers comments on Theo yesterday:

“He’s at the best age now. Being 26 to 32 as a striker is the best age as a striker and I wouldn’t like to miss that golden age.

“I think his position will be striker. I work with him in both situations, as a striker and as a wide player. But the quality of the runs is so fantastic with the pace he has. When he was younger he was rushing his finishing but he is a good finisher now.

“He can be transformed. He is naturally gifted to play in this position but he has different qualities. Olivier Giroud has a physical presence, back to goal, can head the ball. Theo is more a guy who is a runner, who goes behind.

I have always thought Theo would be brilliant down the middle and the first half of last season when Olly was so obviously knacked from being over worked I was desperate to see Theo given a run there.
Its his mentality that worries me now he doesn't seem at all desperate or hungry to prove himself and win a place in a rapidly improving team and to me gives the impression of some one who feels he's a lot lot better than he has proved himself to be, at 26 years old there are a lot of players much much younger than him who are way ahead of him in terms of both what they've already shown and how good they might become. Aguero is the same age and Bale a year younger to name but two

As I said before I was ridiculed, a)Walcott should stay, b)he's better than sterling by a million miles c) his stats are better. We've all watched theo for years, He can cross or dribble, but he is quick, he makes good runs and is a good finisher. I'd like to see him given a shot

Gotta say I'm surprised we aren't interested in krychowiak I know schneiderlin is a good all round player but watching him he plays like he knows got someone covering him and that's not to say if we signed him he wouldn't do a good job in a holding role but kryichowiak from what I've seen of him just sits and protects plus he is a tank so would add physical presence. I just don't want another alex song situation where our holding midfielder wants to join the attack. The reason frannie coq has been so successful is because he enjoys the role he plays and wants nothing to with the attack.

Apparently, he's a beast and never gets injured.

Interesting.

He's more aggressive than Morgan when hunting down the ball so that could be good. I think the key function for a holding midfielder at our club is to seal the box our forward players create, when we attack we often camp in the oppositions defensive third, now a good holding midfielder for us intercepts any balls out of that area from opposition players. This is key to the way we play as it allows us to quickly retain pressure on the oppositions defence. The role of our holding midfielders is to be aggressive and get the ball back ASAP. At a team like southampton who aren't as controlling of the game, the role of the DMs is to break up opposition attacks in there own half and to restrict the movement of opposition midfielders. Whilst the two roles are similar in a lot of ways, the the roles are performed differently. For this reason it is possible that a player like sniedereman won't really fit, in our current system.

Strongly agree saint! We got lucky finding Le coq.

I think between the 2 deep lying cm players you have to have a certain set of skills.

Co ordinating attacks and breaking up counter attacks to be just a few. Santi does the passing Le coq reads up counters. Neither really do each others role that well imo, but they work well together.

Any new signing has surely got to fit into this set up.

So sky sports have stolen the song I wanted the Gooners to run out to next season - "sing for the moment"

Still think we should run out to it as it gets across the passion, leave nothing on the pitch, play for the team spirit we want & expect

Think that blasting out without the F words would create a great atmosphere in the tunnel and on the pitch

Earlier this year I contacted the Club with details of people who could organise the firing of a cannon before games - all home games and the cup games. All Health and Safety taken care of etc etc . Was told not a chance. Shame thought it would have been a great way to begin games - could even fire it at a bird on a beach ball!! COYG

I always thought that the cannon would be a great idea. Reckon it would really pump up the atmosphere and intimidate opponents.

Hi Ed044 I've been swapping opinions now and then on the Liverpool page mate but you've lost some of your best poster's this season Ken and Mick to name but two and the funs unfortunately has gone with them.
Its been a disappointing season for you I know but some people on the Liverpool page are completely OTT with their expectations and criticism with Gerrard and Sturridge getting slaughted on a regular basis by some and Rogers who I never thought was really right for Liverpool being blamed if its cold outside and when its too warm by the same people.
The negativity level is way to high IMO in what had to be a very difficult season after such over achievement last season.

I like the fact we are linked with Kurzawa if its true simply because it shows Arsene is prepared to make some difficult decisions.
If it happend it would put a serious question mark over Gibbs future with us and as much as I like Kieran as a person who's represented our club brilliantly over the years there should be very serious question mark hanging over him and his ability to be part of side that seriously challenges for the biggest prize's

Le Coq on his role, santi and ozil
"If I can take away 10% of their defensive duties then they can have 10% more to attack and score goals and win us the game and I'm delighted, "

That's the multiplier effect!

Now we don't hear moans about our world cup winner Ozil because he can spend more time covering every blade of grass making the creative engine work by passing, making great runs, delicious flicks, deadly thru balls and generally making the entire team work much better.

His ice cool approach is appreciated now, it's complemented by Santi's play and off sets Sanchez's energy - a great balance.

The vital ingredient was Coq though

On Giroud - I am a huge fan and I am on the fence. We need a world class striker but Giroud does so much link up and dirty work for the team. A replacement needs to be a team player but ruthless in front of goal. That's difficult but not my problem - that's what our great manager gets paid for.

{Ed025's Note - i agree SY..

Courtios Fabregas it was questionable if chelsea needed them last summer big calls that in the end made a big difference, i really appreciate Olly and have always thought he is underated but will he score the goals that make the difference come next May? I'm no longer sure he will over a season as with Ospina can he really do for us what De Gea and Courtios do for chelsea and utd? We may have to be cruel to be champions as much as I'd rather not be.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you mate..

10 May 2015 18:00:08
I am a fan of Olly but I think the truth is that he is only good enough to lead the attack in about 70 percent of our games. I fear that against the very best Opposition he comes up short, and therefore if the opportunity comes up we should look to strengthen in this position. For all who think that Olly is good enough I would ask one question. Where do you think we would have finished this season if we could have had Henry up front (in his prime of course) rather than Olly ( or even Suarez?) For me the answer is undoubtably that we would be more a threat and finish higher, and for me that's the reason why we need to go out and sign a top CF, or at least keep Olly but sign the next Henry.

I reckon it's crazy to spend 20m+ on a DM now that Le Coq has made that position his own. He needs decent back up, sure, but why not a veteran to deputise until Bielick is up to it. De Jong would do it, or even better for me Jediniak. That leaves more money to spend on a striker, with a quality pick up there would make us feared. Before anyone gets upset, I like Giroud but, he needs help and an upgrade would be even better. Euro giants always have a quality strike force, it's not a slight on Giroud, he'd form part of that quality strike force.

Dags I knows its difficult at your age to keep up with an ever changing world but we no longer do 4th place trophy hoping so chas would be a dibosuar lost in silicon valley.
Born to late is Charlie's only crime as a couple of years back he'd have fitted in a treat in the CL qualifiers.

A massive g'day to you all from here in tropical, outback Australia. I may not post much, but I read this page daily, most of the time somebody has already made the point I wanted to make! This is a great site, the eds and posters on here should be proud of the online community we have on here. Keep up tue good work people. Oh, and bring back Jen, Steve, Banbury, Metal and Champagne Charlie. Especially Champagne, the new iteration is deluded into thinking he's funny!
