No Winston Reid in West Ham United squad tonight.

Hmmm, interesting me thinks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Make of it what you will dags, told you three signings and he might be one of them.

My mate is a wh fan and has been all his life, he thinks Reid is top class and although others say he's not that good he thinks they are just bitter, they would all love him to stay.

He does have a split personality though, but he's nice blokes :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Reid into it what you like dags. . .

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 00:19:21
Would love him at our place.

Decent, could be our new TV5.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It could happen with the right offer to the club and the player.}

14 Jan 2015 08:01:07
I hope so Ed.

If he leaves West Ham, we seem the obvious destination because he has stated he wants to stay in London.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same dags just wanted to use reid instead of read ;) lol

with this one I can see wenger waiting till late on and snatching a cheaper deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Its looking very likely and I for one say it can do us no harm to have him, no he's not top class but Arsene very seldom spends big money and when he does its always on creating or scoring goals never on stopping them.
If it happens its as good as we could realistically hope for and much like Danny Welbeck we need to look at what we have gained not what we wish we had

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 08:45:06
I know Derby :-)

Well said G62.

Pellegreni recently praised Sanchez as the best player in England, are any Summer bids expected? Either from City or others maybe Bayern/Barca/Real

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

He's not for sale, we no longer need to sell players.

I was in the park earlier wondering why a frisbee gets bigger the closer it gets, then it hit me!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell Sanchez? If the club did that they'd need to get 500 million for him, 400 to rebuild the Emirates demolished by the fans and 100 million for Arsene and the board to buy remote islands to hide on

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 20:04:45
You have 75 mil to spend, going on transfermarkt.com's player valuations who'd Ya buy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2015 20:48:14
Schneiderlin, Hummel's and spend the rest on Jaffa Cakes and strawberry ice cream.

Get in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabregas, Yaya Toure, Robben and Pep :)

Agree0 Disagree0

According to their valuations
Hummel's 30m
Spyder 18m
Cech 15m
Scotty Parker 2m
Micah Richard's 7m
Remaining 3m for G62 to spend on G62

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 21:57:55
Paul Pogba £44 million
Vincent Kompany £29 million

You can have the other £2 million Saint :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, scotty Parker? What for? Entertainment.? Maybe you just think that the others would benefit from laughing at his 80s hair cut.

Anyway, schneiderlin and Reid for me which leaves lots over for Jaffa cakes, but keep the strawberry ice cream dags.

Oh and a new coat for AW, and a rocket to stick up ozils rear end.

And lastly poach the female physio from the chavs

Agree0 Disagree0

I've just sacked myself and appointed Red Dog as my successor, mind you with that other 2 million you could have had Scotty Parker Red, your good but obviously still need to brush up on ya glaring mistakes mate

Agree0 Disagree0

G62. are you Scotty Parker's agent in disguise!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Kompany is invaluable to city. They won't sell at any price. Captain colossus and club legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very much so DG..

14 Jan 2015 07:20:23
Every man and his dog knows that Derby, same goes for the fact we'll never see Pogba in an Arsenal shirt. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

To he fair this is MR and Mrs Saints fantasy football game and there was no stipulation of the players being available although I did fall into that trap myself.
On those grounds I say Reds selection is valid and will take some topping

Agree0 Disagree0

My dog doesn't follow football. he prefers to chase pussy. told him many times he's barking up the wrong tree. paw guy doesn't know what he's missing.

Agree0 Disagree0

If things don't go to plan Sunday we might just want join him in that non football barking thing for a day or two mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

For 75M, I'd bring in
Schneiderlin, Gundogan, Draxler, Lukaku and Howedes. We'd win a trophy every year. And if I had to get rid of people Flamini, Arteta, Mertesacker and Giroud would be there simply because of their age and contract reasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hummels 35 mil
schniedelin 20 mil
lacazette 20 mil

that would be my dream!

Interestingly Cazorla states on the official site, that he prefers playing a central role, which has coincided with his excellent recent displays. I believe this role would also suit Ozil, rather than out wide. We have options to play wide, such as Walcott, Oxlade, Welbeck, Sanchez, Campbell & Gnabry (when he returns from wherever he & Abou Diaby have been).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My understand is Wenger has taken a Frankenstien approach to these two players (combining the working body parts of the both players).

Abou Gnabry will be "like a new signing" come Jan 31st.

To me the ideal scenario in squad rotation and depth is Campbell, Sanchez, Welbeck, Giroud, Walcott, Gnabry and the Ox as the players that make up between them our front 3.

Then take either Cazorla or Ozil as our No10 with Wilshere or Ramsey along side as box to box which ever leaving either Schneiderlin and Coquelin as our rotating DM.

A quality CB next to Koscielny and we are good to go. We then have a little time to replace the older guys, Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky and Mertesacker over the next few windows.

Ozil will have to win back his place because we never need to see him nor Cazorla on the left wing with Sanchez and Welbeck now in the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Billy bob that's funny!

Wouldn't fancy the bits that were left to make serge diaby though

If we were to get Carvahlo and ManU - Spyder for the same price - my true red arsenal heart would be broken.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2015 20:49:41
Spyder every day of the week, but Carvalho is very good.

I hope I'm not the only one when I say how much of a muppet Mr Durham really is? He's recently said that arsenal should try signing Gareth bale, as we all know he is a very talented footballer but if we were to sign him it would have to take a bid of at least £100mil before real even consider opening the door to us. He also compared him to Henry when he was in his prime! What are they smoking over there at T sport lol most ridiculous thing I've ever read

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - your not the only one essex..the guy is a muppet..

The guy is a muppet that winds callers up to cause interesting reactions for his show, callers bite and phone in, he is great at his job. He also has an issue with arsenal because his wife is a gooner so probably gets joy out of winding her up as well.

Even yesterday he didn't praise us for playing well but made a point that stoke were awful.

Don't let him wind you up essex, you'll end up calling in and lining his pockets.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes very good at his job tho. he does what he needs to do. I like the fact a lot of callers from arsenal call in. its not far off an arsenal show.

hes correct when he says we have gone backwards though I believe. and the signings we need are obvious to everyone bar the person that counts,

i feel bale will return reus is joining real madrid and a bid of 90mill plus will get him I feel. won't be to us tho

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Lee, the guy is damn good at his job.
There is this guy Leroy from another show who attempts to do the same thing but no where near Durhams irritating level

Been reading a lot of rumours online, obviously none of them are true, but I would just like to see peoples reaction.

if we do end up getting a DM.

would you go for William carvalho in january?

or would you wait till the summer when you could possibly get a lars bender or a schneiderlin?

im not really sure what arsenal are looking for at the moment, but I sure hope its not a forward.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be honest, definitely the latter.

I think the CB/B is a bigger issue for us at the moment, and getting Schneiderlin in the summer would be great.

Would rather we put 15-20mln to work to get a good defender. Not understanding ho is available.

Can Kim Kalstrom play at the back?!! :P

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 12:07:18
Carvalho can play CB. .

Agree0 Disagree0

Van dijk for me or fabian schar although champs league tied. don't think we will sign a dm this jan :( unless a bargain bucket loan deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Would rather wait and get Schneiderlin.

Carvalho is a good player but I think Schneiderlin is tried and tested in the PL and would take less time to addapt.

I also believe our back 4 would be a lot less panicky with a strong Dm in front of them.

CB for me is Van dijk, a realistic target for a happy board and AW

Agree0 Disagree0

I haven't seen a lot of Carvalho, and the fact that other teams are not queuing up for him, despite the fact that he plays in a weaker league and should be standing out head and shoulders above the rest week in and week out, doesn't fill me with confidence. However, I did watch him play in one of the Portugal friendlies before the World Cup and he was awesome, big, strong and spaying 30+ meter passes all over the pitch inch perfect. So assuming the latter is what he can really do, then fine by me.Shame we couldn't arrange a loan swap with Sporting to perhaps include Campbell going the other way, with an option for both to buy at the end of the season. That way, we could sample the cake before eating.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pay the cash for Schneiderlin and they would sell now

Hi eds, it's possible to say if we're in better possition than ManU to get Schneiderlin in the future?. or the other way around?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i would think arsenal would be favourite , not just because he is french....oh yeah...because hes french.. :)

Plus he's not a huge fan of gregsgs the bakers, that's got to give us an edge.
Imagine having to drive 15 miles outside Manchester to get something to eat three times a day

Thanks Ed025!

Sanchez has been a breath of fresh air at the club. Like all world class players he works his socks off. I noticed that the Ox & Santi have been benefitting from his lead and are working much harder. Both are performing well, as a result.
It is clear that the harder players work, the more they are able to do. Perhaps we have stumbled across the reason for so many muscular injuries at the club, the players don't work hard enough and therefore their bodies are not conditioned properly. In addition the work rate of Sanchez makes opponents move the ball quicker, which results in rushed passing, giving the opportuity to steal the ball back. Teams such as Barca, have a huge work ethic, which Wenger needs to instal in our team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Intresting thought, never thought of it that way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Treble, one thing all world class players have in common is an awesome work ethic. Ronaldo & Messi are prime examples. Fitness-wise players need to be conditioned and hard graft is the best way. Under George Graham the players were worked extremely hard and suffered no more than the usual expected level of injuries. The early Wenger teams contained several players who were trained by Graham and new players clearly picked up their habits. I recall Adams giving Anelka a hard time because of his lack of effort. Sanchez is our hardes working player & yet he hasn't suffered injury-wise.

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbie in think your on to something there mate I really do, we have been strolling defensive for years when we don't have the ball which I knew contributed to us being the most heavily thrashed team against the big boys but I didn't think about its contribution to our mystery injuries .
Maybe we can fix two wrongs with one Sanchez.
People used to compare us and Barcelona but it was always obvious the two things that separated us by a million miles were success and work rate without the ball, I didn't even consider the injuries being part of the equation.

Agree0 Disagree0

We could see a lot of comings and goings in the summer if Arsene suddenly introduces a strong work ethic, he needs to do it gradually if not some players will revolt.
Imagine the talk on the training ground "I didn't come to Arsenal for this sort of treatment, all this running and sweating business"
The players union will be busy :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Barcas success under Guardiola was largely due to every players work ethic, when they lost the ball they pressed to get it back harder than any other team in the world, this included their skillful attacking players as well.

Sanchez has been schooled that way too, unfortunately players like Ozil won't ever be like that as they think if a pass isn't inch perfect and we lose it, its not their fault.

We do have a nucleus of players now which think this way, Sanchez, JW, Welbeck, Debuchy, Ramsey, Even Cazorla of late. I just hope that some of the others realise this before it's too late for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - fair post that 337..

I have been banging on about this for ages. My point has always been that on average we have a young squad, so at least we should be able to play a pressing game. I know managers use a lot more statistics these days, including Wenger, and although I can't quote the official figure I know there is a simple stat that shows that teams create far many more dangerous chances, and have more success when they win the ball back in the opposing teams half. We all saw it with Barcelona (and recently by Borussia Dortmund vs us) but if you look back at any of the successful teams in recent decades, and in particular Liverpool in the 70's and 80's, they all pressed and stifled the opposition to get the ball back quickly, and ideally in the opponents half. I mean, even England look better in recent games playing the so-called 5? second rule. Imagine how much easier it would be to slip a ball behind the CH for Walcott, Wellbeck, Sanchez or the Ox to run onto if you have just won the ball back outside the opposition penalty box, as opposed to outside your own penalty box.

What would everybody's mood be if we don't buy defensive cover and some sort of DM in this window?

I would be so pucking fissed off.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Same as last jan when we signed kallstrom when we needed a world class striker. I was gutted and I new we wouldn't win a title with him again.

this time last year we were topi believe :(

Agree0 Disagree0

Not as much as me dags I've got to change my name!

We will make three signings don't worry a CB a CM (big signing) and the young polish kid
