If we could sign another under valued top class player who would it be?

My money would be aimed directly at Iker Casillas. A few seasons ago it would have seemed crazy, but this guy wants out. Perez has rubbed him the wrong way in the same manner he did to Raul a couple of seasons ago.

He is 10 years Szczesney's senior and has won every trophy in Spain, the champions league and the world cup.
What a monster to play under study to for a couple of seasons.

My second choice would be Mascherano, because I think he is a bit like flamini but has experience at centre half

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Micah Richards . CB FB DMF. How England don't pick him even in the squad is a mystery to me

Agree0 Disagree0

Lewandovski. He would make us up front unstoppable.his contract is over next summer and Dortmund will/should try to send him somewhere else instead of Bayern.so Jan I hope we will try to get him

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't say lewandowski is undervalued mate. Dortmund would get 30-35m easy for him if he had a longer contract, could maybe get about 30m with his contract being so short anyway!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mashcerano in an arsenal team. :drools:

Agree0 Disagree0

Undervalued is the key word. Yeah, Saint Iker would be a steal. Look at how long Buffon has played at the top of his game, ailed is still a pup -:) not that I wouldn't take Lewandowski.

There's an argument you cold make that Rooney is undervalued. I know many don't like him, but he's not performed to full potential for some time at United, like he's never reslly fit, a change of scene and we might see how good he can be.

Agree0 Disagree0

Before his move to athletico I would have said villa. But now I'd go casillas

My take on the Viera and Wilshere debate.

Viera - Best CDM of the past decade. I challenge you to name someone better. I certainly cannot. Yes he wasnt as gifted as Henry or Berkamp but they guy was a monster. Again I can't think of anyone with such avpercect combination of speed and strength.

Wilshere - He's 21 and had injury troubles. Stop knocking the kid and judge him once he's had a season injury free. I think he will be on a par with Gerrard and Lampard. Maybe even Gascgoine.

Peace out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The games tomorrow sat 14th not on Sunday, we have cl on wednsday so need the 3 day break

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope for higher than Gerrard and Lampard for Wilshere, no disrespect to those two very good players in their prime, still are but I'm thinking Iniesta and Xavi and shine in European and International level as well as PL

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with DG on this one although I'm not quite that much a Viera booster, I think Keane got in his head too much in the one on one battles of the day, and there were other great midfielders in that era. Not that Viera wasn't great -:).

Agree0 Disagree0

Why judge Paddy against DB10 or Thierry?
They play different positions for gods sake!
Would Henry have made a great CDM NO! Would Paddy been any good in Dennis position NO
Pady changed our side fundamentally, he bossed that area like no one had done before or since.
He is every bit as good as Bergkamp or Henry in his OWN position.
Paddy was a great player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I cannot believe that nobody has come up with Claude Makalele as a better CDM than both Viera and Keane.

Viera was good, but he had some very very good players around him, as did Makalele.

The big difference is that Makalele was an absolute lynchpin and beast for Chelsea, they win two tittles.

He then goes to Real Madrid, who were consistently being battered by Barcelona for the title and they win the title and Champions League.

Sorry to say it, but the best CDM in the past decade or so was Makalele.

And hi Stoner, Paul, USGooner, and everyone else. Been a little busy lately. Hope all of you are well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Toally agree jinkent Makalele was by far the best I think a lot of people would agree now you reminded us, amazing how you forget the obvious answer some times

Eds, any truths in the reports that Ozil is now ill, and could possibly not play on Sunday? I know he missed training but he is travelling with the squad.

Would be absolutely devastated if he wasn't able to play. Been looking forward to tomorrow for too long now! {Ed027's Note - yes

Ok Geniuses, my original point

Compared to Henry, Pires and DB10, Vieira was an average footballer

Compared to Cesc, Nasri and Robin.or Ozil, Cazorla and Jack, Flamini is an average footballer

But my God was Vieira important for the role he played. Just like Flamini will be on this team.

Of course Vieira was good. Only persons argue he wasn't

Unreal. People got to learn to read posts. Paddy Vieira was class, he also sulked his way out of here after 3 summers of flirting w the enemy

He also chose City over us, then an exec position there. Get over him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You can't compare Vieira to Bergkamp Henry or Pires, it's ridiculous to ever use the word 'average' when describing Vieira! Henry Pires and Bergkamp couldn't do what Vieira did for the team in the same way that he could do what they did either, you just aswel say Katie Price is better at divorces than Buzz Aldrin was a flying space shuttles! They do completely different jobs in different partsmofmthe field FFS!
If you ever sat and watched Vieira control a game for 90 mins to allow the likes of Henry Pires or Bergkamp to do what they did best you might appreciate him a lot more.
In short, you are talking *****

Agree0 Disagree0

US Gooner that's an awful comparison. Viera was an exceptional footballer. Your post are usually not worth reading, but you just jumped in the deep end here.

Ok tired of being stuck in the past. We are all entitled to our opinions. I loved Vieira. All I'm saying is, on skill level, he was one of our more average players when compared to Henry, Pires and Bergkamp.

Like Flamini is, compared to Cesc, Nasri and Robin. or Santi, Jack and Rosicky

I'm excited to see the Jack-Rambo central midfield, which has been Wenger's plan all along, become world class this year

Jack needs to stop listening to media and focus on how he plays w Rambo, because there is already something special there

It's easy to see they already look to each other for 1-2s. Please stay healthy, is all I ask. let's finally see the potential rather than having to justify the hype. It's real. I hope they are on the pitch enough to show it.

3 points and no injuries please

And if Ozil plays, you'll see right away why we bought him

Just went on to physioroom.com and it shows that ozil and mertesaker have some sort of illness! Anyone know what it is.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its all that new team bonding. now they are all ill. I hope they can play today!

What's wrong with hyping that game? Reliving Arsenal lore is part of being a fan. I see any contradiction between saying that was a standout performance and realizing that a 21 year old kid will be inconsistent. Most people are just objecting to the tone of the criticism by the press after. quests what. just one frickng game! Pot/Kettle/Black. He is overhyped because of one game, but it's ok to say he is overrated because of one game, give me a break.

I remember Cesc having a string of similar anonymous or even dreadful games at that age. Wiltshire will be a good player, probably a great one. His quality is unmistakable and his style almost unique for an English player, and odds are his overall game will develop to match that.

Lets all give bendtner a chance. I remember a few years a go he scored lots of important goals for us, and I really did rate the guy. Imo if we give him a chance he can be a good player for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Did you see yesterday's photograph of him. About 20-30 lbs overweight, it'll take him to the January transfer window to fit into an Arsenal shirt.

I don't normally get involved in arguments about particular players as everyone is entitled to their opinion, however i've seen that JW10 is being critisized by some 'fans' on here.

He is by far the most naturally gifted midfielder that England has produced in years! His tecnical ability is better than most players in the world (not all, but most) but more importantly his vision for a pass and reading of the game make him the complete all round midfielder.

I see 'scooby doo' down the page has sited that he is 'overated' and that mentioning the game against Barca proves that, well if you are stating that because he was quiet for england in one game this makes him overated then???

Judging the quality of a player should be down to consistant good performances, which he does, there is not a player in the world who has an exceptional game every time they play and that includes 'messi' I've seen him have some real stinkers!

Lets all get behind our players, and realise that in particular this boy will be 'world class' very soon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Even though he's not match fit he's still been a brilliant player for us this year. When he gets up to match fitness our midfield will be beast.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just love our fans some times. Last year Ramsey was slated, crucified, basically groaned at. but now he's indispensable. At the same time, Jack was raved about, was winning Man of the Match consistently, and was eleavted like a god, now he's not good enough to play for us and is ovverated. Puuuuhlease. Jack is awesome. He has had surgery again in the summer on that pesky ankle, he is obviously trying to get the strength and confidence back to where it was last during last season. As 337 says, football players are not great in every game. Jack needs confidence and trust, especially from the fans. Sing his name, praise him, heck even #him to give him support - he is 21 and will be world class. He is Mr Arsenal, unlike Cesc he is playing for his childhood club RIGHT NOW. Support him.

Agree0 Disagree0

+1 from me 337. Well said.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well let's have it right here no Arsenal fan wants to slate their own players to start with. But, unless we are stupidly blinded there is nothing wrong with criticising our own players if we feel they are playing unusually bad and last season Ramsey was just that, so far this season he seems to have got his act together . As far as Jack is concerned we are all aware he is a great talent no doubting that, my only concern with him is can he last without major injuries time and time again and my gut feeling is no. When I first saw him play when he was 16 at a carling cup game at the Emirates I said to my friends that he was going to pick up some bad injuries due to the way he goes in for a ball. Yes I believe he is injury prone very much so and I sort of blame the Arsenal staff for that as they should have nipped it in the bud in training as to how he tackles. I also think Javk is also very conscious of injuries and it affects his game. Unfortunately we cannot do without him . There are some people who say we should have sold Jack and took the money and run! brought in a couple of 20 to 30 million pound players with the money before we regret it. I sit on the fence with that one I'm not sure. But one thing is obvious any more injuries and you wouldn't be able to give Jack away for free.

I have a friend who is very very knowledgeable about footballing talent and when he came back from Barcelona recently I asked him what it was about Messi that made him such a great player? He said although there is no doubt about Messis talent you cannot ignore the fact that it is the players that are around him that make him look stand out they are always looking for him. so I believe that is the answer to having a good striker.

NB is training on his own at a Danish boot camp in order to regain fitness.

If this is a show of the commitment he is showing to trying to get game time at arsenal then long may it continue.

The debate about how good Jack is reminds me of the Bergkamp debate of a few years back. Believe it or not Bergy wasn't always the stand out player in every game he played but the more he matured the more often he was and the same will happen with Jack. I would also like to give Aaron Ramsey a mention as like Jack Wilshere he had long time out with injury and is now starting to really for fill the potential he had when he arrived. This season so far Rambo has been by far our best player but some people feel he is the obvious choice to make way for Ozil why? Let's give Rambo the same love and support Jack gets and we might just get to keep them both and in a couple of years have our own Iniesta and Xavi to rule both the PL and CL with

Us gunner what the hell are spouting about I think you will find that vieira made those players better than average what have we won since he left.

For me the most missed player in the last 15 years, I agree petit was quality but vieira was the star.

I think Wenger agrees as well and that why he puts so much faith in diaby.

And why is every other team trying o sign the next vieira or Claude makalale

Next your will be saying nb23 is the best striker in the world

Believable0 Unbelievable0

But nb23 is the best in the world!
