This is what I want for next season:

1. New striker - dreamland would be Cavani, however that's unrealistic as (a) he probably has better options available and (b) not sure what'd happen to our wage structure. Others also out there though e. g. Aubemayaung, Jovetic, Bony, Dzeko, etc. With new Emirates and Puma deals we'll have the money available for the first time available since 05.

2. Loan out: Miquel, Bellerin, Gervinho, Martinez, Eisfeld, Gnabry, Yennaris and maybe even AOC. I reckon they'd all benefit from playing time elsewhere.

3. Buy a RB - love Sagna but he's cost us points this season and it looks like he's leaving. Jenks is good but nowhere near ready to be our first choice RB.

4. Slap Walcott and tell him to stop with this striker nonsense. He's an excellent winger and he gets better every season but he's not a striker ffs - he gets more goals/assists from the wing

5. Buy a 4th choice CB - injuries can happen and if Mert and Kosc got injured at the same tme we need to be prepared

6. Crazy Jens is currently earning his coaching badges and has come to train with Szcz a few times already - so when he qualifies we ned to sign him up!

7. Get rid of deadwood (we all know who)

8. Kidnap Fabregas

9. Buy a DM - Arteta is good but can't see him getting any better. Wanyama, maybe?

10. Win FA/League Cup - something we could've done this season, definitely doable

11. Offer Wenger a new contract

12. 75-80 points in PL - we won't win, but hopefully at one point in the season we can look like contenders (bit optimistic here!)

Great post from what looks like a true Arsenal fan

Puma deal doesn't start till end of next season so why would we have the money yet?

Hey ed's 002 & 027 keeping up the good work guys thanks, still an avid reader, but not posting too much, miss london & the season has been like that!. kind of need Metal, Charlie, Ben (s), redgoon, Malaga, steve, etc back on here, the transfer window will do that I'm sure. anyways a reminder of my January post below, I have 4/6 now I think (although maybe not the right names in the right places), today could seal a fifth. (will you collect my winnings for me?)

After the first few days back to work I fancied a flutter so popped into the bookies, but I don't like FA Cup betting (too many shock results!) so had a chat and made a proposal, and he agreed to 100-1, so I thought why not put a tenner on it?

.
ALL TOP SIX clubs of Arsenal, Man Citeh, Spuds, Man Utd, Chelski and Everton will have new managers by Jan 1 2014!

Here's my reasoning.

ManUtd - Jose Mourinho

Now, I think Man United is the dodgiest on the list but Old Red Nose is already showing signs of mental illness with some of his comments this season! Jose looks increasingly like he will be available at the end of the season, if not before. I think Utd have had him earmarked as SAFs successor for a while, and I think they would move for him if he was available and he inevitably got talking to Citeh. SAF may well retire following a successful and dominant title winning season, along with his legends scholes and giggs. Or SAF may be gone if a stray RVP shot hits him on the head!

Man Citeh - Jurgen Klopp

I don't see them catching Utd, so I think Mancini will lose his job, and take a lot of his expensive flops like Ballotelli and Garcia with him. Citeh will want Jose but as explained above I think Utd would go for him and he would choose them. 2nd choice would be Pep G, but he builds francises over a prolonged period, and must know he wouldn't get the time on Citeh's hot seat. So I think they'd move for a recent successful man-manager like Klopp who could bring some stars like Gotze with him, or perhaps an old school disciplinarian, someone like Capello or Koemann or Ancelloti.

Chelski - Not sure who but it won't be Rafa! even though IMO they finish 3rd this season.

Everton - Martin O'Neil (or someone similar)

A good money manager and player motivator. Moyes may think he has done all he can there (surpassing expectations) and after Everton are forced to sell their stars in Fellaini and Baines, albeit for big profits, they simply can't reinvest too much, especially as IMO they won't get a top 4 finish this season. Martinez would be in with a shout too.

Spurs - David Moyes

Moyes could likely leave for the next step up, and I think he would accept this job if offered after AVB flops again. The mighty Gunners will finish 4th with their worst team ever, above the best spurs team ever, which will not be good enough for the spurs to back AVB with any more money. They will continue the annual comedy that is Spursday Football. They'll sell Bale, probably shift a lot of players as usual, and rebuild without champs league money, which is Moye's speciality. Even though his reputation in Britain is quite poor, I could see Madrid or Inter or another big european club taking AVB, so it could work out ok for him.

Arsenal - Pep Guardiola

Pep had a detailed visit of the training grounds, youth academy and stadium a few years ago and was very impressed with the tradition, finances, future plans etc and he was touted to be AW's successor way back then, but the pieces may now be in place for that to actually materialise. He is learning English whilst on his sabatical and living very close to the New York Red Bulls, and apparently has a close relationship with King TH14 whilst over there (who could very well join his coaching staff with us). There will be many offers for him, but I think he would choose Arsenal over all of them as Arsenal like stability and he would pretty much be guaranteed 5 years at the helm. However, Barca could come calling again due to their coach unfortunately getting ill again.

As for Wenger, well I bet he never imagined the day his Arsenal fans sang "You don't know what you're doing" to him. I think we'll finish 4th place this season, which will be a minor miracle for Wenger (without adding quality this month, which I don't think will happen because AW will keep the excuses coming and the money safe for the new manager's era). 4th place and he could step aside with his head held relatively high. He'll most likely move up to be Chief Executive for a few years, which could hold the new coaches back, but I wouldn't begrudge his involvement in assisting the transition period. He may even take the France job, but I can't see him managing another club after us, and rightfully so, because he is a Legend here.

What do you reckon? Should I just throw the ticket away now?

PS. I was close to adding Loserpool and Newcastle to the list which would've made it 150-1 but decided against it.

Arsenal haven't won anything in 8 years and their fans still shamelessly call Liverpool loserpool

Eds, wich youngster will have a realistic chance of playing themselves into the first team next season?

Norwegian Gooner {Ed027's Note - Maybe Bellerin, Eisfeld & Gnabry, could get loan spells, but I think they'll get a few cup games

Julio Cesar £4m

Total = £70m

Ed any chance of Daryl Janmaat if Sagna leaves? {Ed027's Note - Always a chance mate, but my take on it is that Jenko will get pushed on & Bellerin will be his back up, this is imo, I can't see us signing another young rb, that'll ruin Bellerin's chances, and it'll hold up one of Jenko/new young rb development, I say keep Sagna, let him run his contract down, and make him 2nd choice, whilst Bellerin gets a good season long loan to a PL club, because he is that good imo, then he'll be ready to compete and back up Jenko for the 2014/15 season

Ed please can u tell do you see those plyers in ars colours nect season? {Ed027's Note - I don't know which ed you are on about

Supposedly, Barcelona's Thiago Alcantara will be put up for sale this season. He seems quite a talent, so any chance of us taking a punt?

Haggis Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would be an expensive punt and where would you play him? Our team is full of attacking midfielders so may not be a priority also if they sell Thiago Cesc would never leave they wouldn't sell both

people talk about the talent of benteke from villa.
but podolski / giroud / couzola grant u older have all scored more goals in there first season at emirates.

pat on the back to these 3 I think u have done a great job to try and fill in the void of 2 world class players cesc and RVP.

so they have done better than Grevhino/bendnter/chamak

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Comparing strikers directly is one thing, comparing their records are another.

do you think henry would be scoring 30+ goals in league 1 football?

teams and 'supply' factor in to things

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly Goonerink. that's why it does me in when fans think someone like Jovetic won't prosper in this league.

Who would have thought RVP would be scoring 30+ back in '05?

Agree0 Disagree0

Switch giroud and benteke's transfers. Imho benteke would have scored more with us. And giroud would have scored a lot less.

I rate giroud and benteke and would prefer benteke to bendtner. Would I switch a prolific 'top' french striker in giroud for a young unproven arsenal fan? I would but then again i'm not a top manager

They won't make it easy, need the boys to give it everything.

"It seems that if Arsenal do plan to make a summer move for the Montenegrin forward, they want to make absolutely sure they've got the right man first.

It's easy to understand why. Arsene Wenger's recent forward purchases have been somewhat hit-and-miss. Marouane Chamakh and Park Chu-Young have both been farmed out on loan after prolonged barren spells. Gervinho continues to infuriate Arsenal fans with his inconsistency and inaccuracy in front of goal. Olivier Giroud has demonstrated his undoubted potential on several occasions but has struggled to consistently fill the void created by the departure of Robin van Persie.

Jan Kruger/Getty Images
This summer, Arsene Wenger cannot afford to make a mistake. Whether or not Arsenal manage to qualify for the Champions League, this season has not been good enough. Arsenal need to bring in a forward who can help turn them from also-rans to genuine contenders once again.

For all Giroud's qualities, there is a sense that he is not a striker in the true Arsenal mould. The Frenchman is a fairly traditional target man: he is best with the ball in the air and his back to the goal. He is an atypical Arsene Wenger player; Wenger's trophy-winning sides have tended to feature quick, mobile forwards like Nicolas Anelka and Thierry Henry.

Giroud represents a wonderful Plan B; Arsenal need a new Plan A.

Jovetic could be the man for that plan.

He is quick off the mark and has outstanding technique. Unlike Giroud, his game is not based on physical strength, but instinctive sprints into space and an immaculate first touch. He is comparable with Liverpool's Luis Suarez, who has flourished in the Premier League this season.

Fielding Jovetic at centre-forward would transform Arsenal's style. His versatility means he would be able to swap out to the wings whenever required, allowing Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott to alternate through the centre, giving Arsenal a newfound unpredictability in attack.

He also has the pace to get on to through-balls from the likes of Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla. Giroud prefers passes in to his head, chest or feet, but Jovetic is prepared to run in behind the defence when needed, stretching the play and creating space for others.

Of course, the wonderful thing about adding Jovetic to the Arsenal ranks is that it would allow Arsenal to switch things up and change to a front two when required. Jovetic and Giroud would make a marvellous front pairing. In certain games, Arsenal could go for a more direct system akin to that played by The Invincibles in 2004.

It remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal are prepared to break the bank to sign a player of Jovetic's quality.

However, should the Gunners bring Jovetic in, it will transform not just their starting lineup but also their chances of winning silverware next season. "

Finishing strongly this season will help us loads for next season. We've finally solved the defensive problems that have haunted us for the past 2-3 seasons. An established CB pairing, a reliable keeper and more than adequate cover at RB and LB.

To be honest I don't think we need a CDM as we have two high energy CMs in Wilshere and Ramsey. This obviously works as we've been playing last 10 games without one and haven't conceded from open play since March or something like that. I'm not sure what Wengers planning next season regarding captaincy. Will Arteta stay in team but that would mean Cazorla stays on the left midfield or Ramsey gets dropped? Wilshere would make a great captain but still a bit young plus that would mean stripping it off Vermaelen that would destroy his confidence.

If our defence was this good for a whole season we would win the league simples. All the teams that win the PL have a rock solid defence. The invincibles did, Chelsea did, United have several times. I wonder just how much influence Steve Bould has had on our defence. It looked like he was performing miracles at start of season but it soon went to $h!t. Also can I just say can people stop suggesting Vermaelen as a CDM it's never going to happen.

like I have said since january. you can look back on my old posts. any major, big name signing depends on champions league football.

if we get champions league football expect a world class ready made striker. I am hearing enquiries have been made about cavani of napoli. jovetic is a back up to the 'marquee' signing one which is more likely if we don't get champs league football. altho a good player not an instant team changer one to make other teams stand up and take notice. also the interest in higuain is real, he is definitely up for sale that is for certain.

wigans mc arthur is an option being looked at a centre half and goalie are the other areas new players will be coming in. wengers main interest in this window coming is getting a porven world class striker and will spend big if we get champs league football.

will be back with more when I hear any update.

I know someone quite high up in arsenal and according to him arsenal will break their transfer record but nothing ridiculously high and possibly their 100k wage allowance, wouldn't give me much but asked Rooney all I got was 'not a chance'. Also said jovetic deal isn't near completion as there is a quite a few details to be ironed out.

Neither Poldi nor Walcott are on anywhere near 100k PW let alone over it.
