Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

21 Aug 2015 20:58:37
Every year I promise myself I won't take any notice of the rumour mill but I fail miserably every time!
Sick of hearing all the rubbish about Benzema-I for one would rather we signed Cavani.
Also worrying for me is Mertersakers lack of pace at the back-we will get found out against the better sides.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i agree with the per shout jock..

21 Aug 2015 21:17:32
Gabriel will displace him very soon IMO, he lacks speed both physically and mentally and this season Arsene won't tolerate him costing us the points he did last season, in the race for 4th there's a lot of games for era's to be made up for but in a title race Arsene won't be so tolerant.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 21:42:39
Think we should swap Per for Stones.

Could this happen Ed? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - more chance of finding rocking horse s**t dags..

21 Aug 2015 21:51:27
I love arsene but been tollerant of failure is something that he's partial to. If a forward skinned meet for pace in the post match interview wenger would suggest that the system is unfair and that naturally fast forwards should have speed limiters on them so to give slower defenders a chance and let it come down to ability rather than pace. Mert out for me he is poor with the turning circle of a bus he can't pass the simplest of balls can't do one touch and can't use his weaker foot at all

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes not the greatest brow..but thats a bit harsh mate..

21 Aug 2015 21:52:46
I wouldn't even ask for pounds I'd take ounces for him :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 22:18:47
I'm not ed. he has his moments he can be a threat when we get a corner. I nearly fell over when he tried that little back heel the other day. He's useless

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not useless brow, but certainly replaceable..

21 Aug 2015 22:26:58
Well I'm by no means a Merts fan, but that Browngun could be as much nonsense as I've seen in a single post. If people insist on slagging of the players from their own club, at least try and make sense with it, otherwise you are just making yourself look silly.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 22:39:22
UG granted the stuff about we get defending him is joking nonsense. But getting all anal about slagging players off is silly. He's rubbish simple as. Or more diplomatically put like ed. replaceable

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 22:49:27
Brow, how did Wenger's patience with Ramsey work out? Bellerin? Monreal?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 22:50:17
Which is it? Replaceable yes. Benzema is replaceable for Madrid, so therefore is he rubbish? No. Is Merts rubbish? Of course he isn't.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 22:59:44
V Stoke? v Liverpool? How is it possible to be too hard on a player who does that once let alone twice.
Anyone who defends that behaviour in an Arsenal shirt should be the one to replace him immediately.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 00:17:21
Thanks G62. He ain't good enough. Everyone has their opinions and I will gladly backtrack to replaceable . But he needs replacing displacing however you like

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 00:35:20
Nobody defended that behaviour to be honest g62, just the fact that he's not 'rubbish'. For the record, I hope your comment about Gabriel is true, he looks really good and we could do with replacing the BFG this season

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 00:50:20
Yes TPG in all diplomatic terms let's put gab in there. All right all right he isn't rubbish. But he isn't good or any where near

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 01:04:45
Just like people say we won't win the leauge with giroud we won't win it with mertesacker starting hope he gets dropped against Liverpool

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Aug 2015 08:18:59
Yep, no hard feelings, agree with most of the above. Some of the criticism is just way over the top and crazy sweeping statements are made.
As I said in the first post, I'm by no means a Merts fan. I would also like to see Gabriel given a run, we paid good money for him and from bits I've seen he looks decent.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 20:05:57
OK we've far from made the most signings this summer but we've certainly made the best, I can't think of another signing that's close to Petr Cech in terms of proven ability over a sustained period, years left at the top and value for money.
Must be what Arsene's talking about when he says improving us, hope he improves on Sanchez and Kos too that would be something to see :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable1

21 Aug 2015 21:05:36
Don't shoot the Dags, but thus far, i'm still not convinced about Cech.

He was great at Chelsea, won everything there is to win and was a beast in goal.

Of course it's early days, and a keeper can play at top level until he's 40, but let's hope his best days are not behind him.

Just saying.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your having a giraffe aren,t you dags, the guy will win you the title mate..

21 Aug 2015 21:24:06
No signing is ever toally certain to be a success but anyone who is thinking of betting their house on anything this season Cech is as safe as bet as you can possibly get.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i concur mate..

21 Aug 2015 21:45:27
Think I'm just in 'Steve' mode at the moment Ed025.

Petr has been out of the firing line for a year at Chelsea.

Let's just hope he's just a bit rusty.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 21:52:49
Cech is great he just needs to adapt to having a less defensive defence in front of him if you catch my drift

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i do brow..

21 Aug 2015 21:56:42
I'm inclined to side with Dag's a bit here.

I'm not saying Cech is a bad signing, but Chelsea have always been much more defensive than us.
Bus jokes et al aside, their fullbacks don't bomb forward like ours and Cahill/Terry stay pretty disciplined unless it's a set piece.
How often do we see Koscielny out of position, either covering for Per or pushing up.

I still think he's going to be good for us, but I think we need to make compromises.
We should definetly give Gabriel a, he's more mobile and won't get caught out as much.
I like Per, but he's just not offering much these days.
Even in the air he's poor for a guy who's 6'6!

Cech'll improve once his match fitness is up to scratch, but we still need to work on the team, it's all well and good him saving is a goal or 2 In a match, if we're firing blanks up top.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 22:20:13
Absolutely D_

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 22:22:03
It's not just about our full backs bombing forward . We have a real naivety at times and terrible positioning . I bet as much as other teams don't like playing against us I fancy that every other manager in the league fancy they can get a goal against us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you make steve sound positive brow..

21 Aug 2015 22:40:56
It's right though ed. I love our attacking flare but you can score against us wether your Chelsea or Sunderland

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - maybe thats a price you have to pay for being so attacking and a joy to watch, give me that any day mate..

22 Aug 2015 00:18:22
Maybe your right but a bit more steel at least

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 00:41:19
There's a quote here ed:

"I would feel more elation if we lost 4–3 in a match which really touched the heights than us sneaking through 1–0 in one of those grey matches. If we cannot remind people what a great game it is then we will have missed a tremendous opportunity."

- from one of this site's fan favourites, none other than the Rodney Marsh

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - rodney is a plonker TPG, but this is an entertainment business, and although winning is always the aim it has to be achieved with at least a bit of style, its great to see players playing with a smile on their faces players like marsh, frank worthington and george best was a joy to behold for me..ahh halcyon days.. :)

22 Aug 2015 09:24:27
Frank Worthington, has any player ever been so under rated and unappreciated? If he'd been Brazilian he'd be a legend

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i was a massive fan G62..

21 Aug 2015 13:26:05
Three different interpretations in today's papers. We have the star, the telegraph and the independent. From arsenes pre Liverpool conference we have these three contrasting headlines.

Arsenal are no where near signing any new players

Arsenal expect new signings

And wenger has the funds and expects benzema

Go figure

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2015 14:45:57
There waiting to see which one gets the most hits and that one will be the story to spin us over the weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 14:56:06
Classic 'Throw enough mud and some will stick' there mate!
It's frustrating cause I really wish there was some 100% definite news!

But I'm (relatively) patient, i still expect there to be some dealing of some kind, I imagine it's just us either not being decided or having a target and not wanting to stop chasing till deadline day!

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 16:06:05
They've just each taken a quote from the full interview, he said that he expects signings like us fans, but, he's not going to sign players of the same quality we have, they must improve us, all though we're not close to signing anyone.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 17:13:44
Ed02 posted a reply on the European page in relation to a few players and clubs interested with Madrid , barca and PSG been mentioned. And it seams that there is going to be a merry go round and it's just a case of the first part to set into motion . There was no real mention of arsenal in the post but reading between the lines some of the players needed to make way at clubs like real and PSG to free up cash to make the signings they are after are probably what we're looking at and waiting for

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 18:23:52
One player will sign at least. I believe it's benzema. Iv said this a lot already tho

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 20:14:25
What do you base your prediction on Derby, the Metro or the star stories :-)

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 21:54:34
The star has its uses . Fish and chip wrap or to start a log fire or if you have no Andrex

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we dont use andrex in liverpool brow...we use the s*n newspaper, the only thing its fit for is wiping your arse..

21 Aug 2015 22:28:07
After one of your replys a few weeks ago I looked into that. Been an arsenal fan I didn't fully understand the gravity of what it was about. I'm from Yorkshire and my dad is staunch Liverpool fan and never understood why he hated the s*n so much. But I do now and rightly so. The unity throughout Liverpool red or blue is beautiful . Never bought the crap anyway because it's drivel . But after what I read won't ever even look at it

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good man..

22 Aug 2015 00:23:27
Us Yorkshire lads prefer the daily sport, with our morning cuppa:)

When the season starts the window should be finished.
"Simple as that. It is too big an advantage for clubs that didn't work well during the transfer window.
"The funds are there, people know that you have the resources, but the players are not available.
"We expect, like you, but at the moment, we are not close."

the guy needs to get over it the windows open. the players are out there. i believe the window should be open like it is personally. time he stops trying to change football to how he wants it and just get signing players

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - what was wrong with the old system of just not having windows and leaving transfers open for all but the final month of the season?}

21 Aug 2015 14:35:37
What players are available that you want Derby? Genuinely just asking out of interest because every name that comes to my head seems to be unavailable.

It seems the Benzema situation depends on Real getting a replacement - unavailable (currently)

I'd think Southampton would want to keep hold of Wanyama now that they have lost Schneiderlin - unavailable

Carvalho - injured

Cavani - maybe unavailable since PSG are already open to selling Ibrahimovic

I'm with you on making a signing Derby but I don't think he's lying when he says he expects something to happen and that it's hard finding the right available player. Strikers seem to be like gold dust recently, look how much Liverpool paid for Benteke.

We could, I guess, just 'give them an offer they can't refuse' and hope we can prize away a player who isn't for sale which isn't in our nature at all - or we could go with Dag's option and take a punt on Charlie Austin for £15m.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - or G62,s pick balotelli.. ;)

21 Aug 2015 14:38:24
If your going to have a window it would make sense to me for it to open the Monday after the cup final and close the Friday before the season starts.
I don't see why that would be any more complicated than it is now but it would stop all this desperate false hope on transfers and let everyone concentrate on the football action.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its a fair point G62..but not all leagues start at the same time mate..

21 Aug 2015 14:58:24
You need to get over it, this has been said by managers of other clubs as well, Martinez is one of them just an example.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 15:04:35
Derby, if we had a manager who got his business done like the other top managers then we would not be complaining. We either have to get a bargain, a Frenchman, an ex Real Madrid or Barcelona player. It sucks!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - stop complaining ffs, he is only interested in players that will enhance the team..and i applaud the guy..

21 Aug 2015 16:09:00
Ed I think one advantage of the window shutting is, if you get suspensions/injuries you are forced to use your youth players, instead of being able to buy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would agree, if it wasn't that it has led to teams to just stockpile large squads so that doesn't happen.}

21 Aug 2015 16:51:00
Good point Ed I hadn't funk of the different leagues thing :-( but good to have you onboard team Balotelli that's you me and Dasgs 100% in favour we've just got to convince Steve to see the positives of it :-)

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 18:27:26
Players that enhance the team? The guy signed welbeck people. Welbeck

The polish lad krychowaik excuse spelling. Has a clause 22mill. Pay it please.

We can't surely believe the players that have moved this window won't improve us?

He's brainwashing some of us. Go into the season week just incase we don't challange

Agree0 Disagree3

21 Aug 2015 19:11:04
Would KRYCHOWIC or however it's spelled actually enhance our squad - would he give us say another 10 pts??

It seems to me that we have reached the stage where everyone just wants AFC to throw money out of the window and hope

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 22:33:25
Well let's hope the philosophy that has been pushed for the past ten years pays off😈

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 11:39:25
Which youngster are you looking forward to seeing play this season in a few matches, we have some top quality youngsters, me personally Beilik and Reine Adelaid, esp Beilik. Maybe Wenger would give them a chance like he did with Fabregas years ago, you never know..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2015 13:53:18
Iwobi and Zelalem as well..

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 14:41:07
Adelaide excites me the most I would say. It'll also be interesting to see how some of our players do out on loan, such as Zelalem like Madhu states. Wellington Silva will be lining up for Bolton against my local team Forest this weekend. Also, I wonder how Akpom advances at Hull now that he finally has a senior goal under his belt.

I hate to bring it up but it's really annoying me seeing Afobe on the scoresheet for Wolves week in week out, knowing we sold him for a measly £2m.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 02:31:38
Hope we have a buy back clause..

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 06:45:25
Who would you rather start on Monday, Theo or Giroud?
I think it is about consistency for both of them.
I'd also like chamberlain to start, not just because he's in my fantasy team but because we need some more width on he right. Not sure who I'd drop though.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2015 08:47:35
I'd start Theo for the simple reason Olly does have an impact as a sub where Theo just seems to run around a lot never really getting into the game when he comes into the game late on.
Personally I think we'll see Arsene's favoured 11 again with Olly up top and Ox on the bench, its what Arsene see's as his best team.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 10:20:39
I think we may play Walcott , Giroud and Sanchez across the front and leave out Ramsey . Just have a feeling.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 12:04:07
Theo every day of the week. When he plays defenders are more worried about him running in behind and tend to drop back a little, which in turn gives our midfield more time and space.

When Olly plays then our midfield gets pressed far more. The other issue i have with playing Giroud is that we play with almost no width and he is definitely best when supplied with crosses from wide areas.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 14:19:52
Against Liverpool id play theo

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 23:32:28
Ed, any interest from Arsenal in Saido Berahino?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Berahino is of no interest to Arsenal.}
