Didn't see game today, but ecstatic with 3 points.

Any away game is difficult, Palace are no exception.

And yet another Olly goal.

3rd in league.

Roll on Wednesday.

Happy Dags.

dags i'm at the point where I just sigh when I hear this phrase " any away game is difficult" we are Arsenal. If its come to this where a trip to Crystal Palace is deemed as a difficult away game just because their crowd gets behind them, then the club is not moving in the right direction. I think most supporters would agree we need to get the balance in the team to a point where we are fully equipped to deal with a variety of opponents and in a manner where we are not mentally already beaten by an away crowd.
We should be going to places like old Trafford with a "ok were' going to steal all 3 points from you f****ers rather than going to mid to bottom table clubs away thinking "this will be difficult"

this whole lack of confidence needs to be washed away from both supporters and the club. being a winner starts with that winners mentality and it annoys me when I hear this kind of talk about this great club

With respect ofcourse Dags this is not meant as a nip at you mate. With confidence I can say atleast 10% of your jokes make me laugh :-)

I think the reality is that any away game in the premier league is difficult. Not saying we aren't capable of winning most, if not all away games. But it is pretty ignorant to think away games vs bottom half teams are a guarenteed 3 points. Just because we have a better team / sqaud, it doesn't grant us a God givem right to walk over all teams below us in the league, we have to earn it. Today we took our chances infront of goal and defended well.

With the way the pitch played - it seriously reduced it down to anyones game - not only was it a good 4 points but good that we didn't end up with a full physio room again. Every time a player went into a turn they went ace over apex.
Glad AW didn't risk Walcott or Wilshere on that surface with that plonker of a referee allowing continuous fouls.
Didn't see much sign of Mesut Ozil being muscled out this game he is getting stronger by the game. Sanchez could easily have killed off the game from some MO brilliance.

{Ed025's Note - its no wonder you are doing well ECE..getting 4 points for a win.. :)

We were fortunate today, should have given Walcott a run in second half when we were playing on the break it would have made the game a lot easier if we had got the third. Luckily pardew did not work until to late that with all the joy they were getting out wide a big man or two would have given us far more problems, also le coq was fortunate not to see red for a high foot I've seen them given. All in all a good day come on you rip roaring reds

Yanman - on that pitch with that ref it would have been Walcotts last game of the season had he been put on AW got it dead right

Not the most convincing performance, but 3 points well earned away from home.

Didn't think our lads did too much wrong today. Welbeck was impressive and Santo and the two centre halves really stood out. I think left back was a tough call today, Gibbs would have had the pace to cope better with Zaha, as Monreal struggled with it at times, but Gibbs is always more of a risk of leaving us exposed on the break. All in all I think Monreal did ok.

It's becoming more obvious that Chambers is more suited to a central role either in defence or midfield, his reading of the game is fantastic, but he just doesn't have the pace to cope out wide in this league. He wouldn't go amiss working on the timing of his tackles either.

My only concern about Wednesday is that we still might lack the intensity going forward to get the best result against Monaco, but overall, I'm optimistic.

Let's finally get past the round of 16 again!!

Were not the finished article Cig that's for sure mate but that's to be sorted in the summer hopefully, I think we have enough to be the best of the rest or at least runners up (4th) in the also ran race this season.
That a CL semi final FA cup win and a great summer would set us up nicely for next season.

Dislike them lots but respect what they've achieved over the years and are capable of in the future.

There is something about utd that just really makes me hate them. Seeing them lose is a Pleasure. He have he most entitled smug fans in the league and deserve to be bought down a peg or two.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hate is a very strong word bacon, im not a lover either mate but i think thats just jealousy over their success to be honest...now spurs..well they just wind me up.. :)

No Jealously mate, I have friends who are Manc fans who used to whisper that fact until the mid to late 80's all of a sudden they became the most loyal fans going and shouting it from the roof tops

Funny that

Great win today, didn't play well but 3 points is 3 points. Apart from the last 2 minutes, we pretty much kept Palace at bay. Welbeck played well, lots of energy and big part in both goals. Ozil was quiet but in these kind of games he have to do much. Cazorla, Coquelain and Kos also stood out. Chambers got rinsed by Gayle and Bolasie, he isn't a RB. I think his future is CB, possibly CDM.

Man U dropping points is a huge bonus. I had them down for win. Hopefully Saints v Liverpool is a draw and W Ham can do us a favour.

Roll on Monaco, really hope we can have a decent run in the CL this season.

Now we have clawed our way into the top 4, the way the fixtures are set up it would be an absolute dissaster of epic proportion if we don't stay there for the next two months and cement our place in third. No slip ups in very winnable games is the least we should expect. We don't want no easter egg on our face either like previous seasons, we want third and no pre champs league qualifying either. Should be attainable with relative comfort.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - next week wont be easy steve..

21 Feb 2015 19:20:42
On form we should win next week Ed but you under estimate Everton at your peril, your not having the best of seasons but on the day can beat anyone home or away

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we can be anything on the day G62, from brazil to hartlepool...a draw for me mate..

21 Feb 2015 19:33:52
Have my eye on second!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - lost cause that cangun mate..

21 Feb 2015 19:58:20
Have my eyes on forth and if that becomes a mathematic certainty with games to go 3rd and so on, take absolutely nothing for granted at this stage 7th is as possible as 2nd but 3rd 4th 5th most likely IMO.
Very good players have bad spells Ed and good sides have bad seasons mate, Europa cup and top 10 finish?you've had worse days Roders :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would bite your hand off for that G62, but with us its what turns up on the day..will it be the expansive free flowing football of the young boys game, or the tedious boring pass for passings sake that we seen against hull?...it could be 0-3 or 3-0 next week mate...but im leaning towards a draw..

21 Feb 2015 20:37:38
We play Wednesday and you Thursday so as long as we play our best available side I'm hoping to sneak 3pts Ed but if we rotate for the sake of it or aren't at it 100% we could pay a heavy price mate, I've a feeling Arsene knows that too

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2015 17:13:07
Great win today. Tough place to go credit to palace, just lacked a bit of real calm and quality. Little lucky with both goals but that's life and we take all the luck we can get. I thought the team pick was a bit strange, monreal and chambers over gibbs and bellerin, when palace have very speedy wingers. Thought ozil was poor, giroud struggled and scored again tho. Welbeck had hand in both goals and should not have been taken off. Santi man o match. Sanchez quiet and coq filling holes
( sorry) putting defenders on invited palace on to us in last 10 which led to the goal, they were at arms length until then. Some things that are done still baffle me, but he ho upward and onward. Three winnable games down six to go.

I think its because Monreal is consideded the better defensive option, if it was on going forward Gibbs would get the nod

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2015 15:35:09
Why play monreal instead of Gibbs when says is playing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2015 10:22:43
I hope even when everyone is fit we play our best 11 in virtually every game, personally I think rotation to keep everyone happy and fresh does a lot more harm than good. Having a settled side and strong competition for places and players knowing if they lose thier place it might be a very long time before they get back in has to produce better results than player knowing no matter how well they play they will probably sit out the next match.
Sanchez is offended at the thought of being left out of any game and I'd like all our players who are in good form to have that same mentality

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2015 11:55:19
I think that's just asking for injuries. I agree that the back four should remain the same / strongest possible in all league games. But in cup competitions we have to rotate players like Koscielny and Gibbs to avoid injury.

We also need to rotate our attacking options and play different midfields / forwards depending on who we are playing.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Feb 2015 12:17:18
To be fair DG mate chavs and Southampton have rotated much less than most and its done them little harm.
Personally I prefer to play your best/inform players together when ever possible and let only injuries or loss of form provide opportunities for those players choking at the bit for a chance they know they must take

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2015 14:25:24
People have been complaining that Wenger doesn't have a plan B and that he is too 1-dimensional. Most good teams do rotate to match their opponents, for example, Mourinho has been rotating Zouma and Cahill, Cech and Courtois, Ramires and Matic, Azpilicueta and Felipe Luis, Willian and Cuadrado etcetera to suit the opponent. Some teams we may need to use pace down the wings to get behind defenders, other games we may pack the midfield and play through the middle.

I agree that we shouldn't be rotating just to please some players, but I believe that we should have atleast two good players in each position in order to execute a change of tactics better.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2015 15:34:02
That's a very good point Perfect about us complaining about no plan B, personally with everyone fit 4 3 2 1 works against most teams but there are times to be less attacking and more disaplined that's for sure.
Two in every position most deffinately with real competition and absolutely no favours asked for or received.
