So with Louis Van Gaal losing to everyone from Leicester to MK Dons; he makes David Moyes look like he did a good job at United.

Pinocchio down the Lane making a hash of things and keeping us smiling each week.

Even Robbie Martinez now has a shambolic defensive team who are leaking a record number of goals.

For those fans baying for Wenger blood after a poor performance against Dortmund. Be careful what you wish for!

Klopp and Simeone won't be leaving anytime soon from their respective clubs so let's support the manager through thick and thin until the end of the season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

One swallow does not make a summer. I don't really care about other teams and problems, I discuss it but not care. The long term picture past and present in all aspect, reflect the good and bad. I don't take one or two games as a guide, I take a longer view. I am only really interested in arsenal fc. My hopes and fears are long term. Its still nice to see so called big teams shocked though, may it continue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jeez, now I know why you've got jack D as your prof pic

Agree0 Disagree0

Manutd play chelsea and man city back to back at the end of the month.

cant wait to see them games I will be amazed if they get anything from them games.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm in agreement with Steve. We benefited yesterday from a situation that we had no control over. How many weekends are going to through up them kind of results?

We need to be addressing our own in house problems, something Wenger has been failing to do. How many posts have had people screaming for Ozil to be played through the middle. He gets one game in there and look at the result.

I'm still of the opinion that Arsene's tenure is up but he will always get 100% support while he is in charge. let's not get ahead of ourselves with the result. Villa started strongly and faded off. Was this down to the illness in the squad? I don't know. I do know however that if ever there was a week to visit Villa park this season we got it.

I'm not being pessimistic just realistic. Let's see how we fair against stronger full strength opposition.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same here ulster, well put. Let us take the longer term view. We won't get weekends like this very often, but letshope we get a few more and do our own giant slaying, which is a distant memory at the mo.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do rate Martinez, Pochetinho, Pellegrini, LVG, hell I even rate pardew.

however football is a game of confidence. we have seen how we lingered in the abyss post henry era, while we struggled to juggle between building a new stadia and pretending to be contenders.

it also takes 11 players to commit to that resolve.

while everton seem to be creating a bunch of individual errors which have cost them over games, to go with baines regressing and Distin looking 45. timing is everything.

look at liverpool they went out and bought ewoks, and now they are having to rely on a defense that's not all that.

while man city have not even hit their stride and chelsea seem to be full fledged, we are only 4 points from the top. but I still believe we will end up 3rd or 4th.

on to Manchester United post mortem, players lack confidence, its no point in RVP, Falcao, Di maria and Rooney having confidence they don't play all over the pitch.

They should have spend 60 mill on hummels and they would have been on 9-10 points right now. their situation is precarious.

If they have a chance for Ronaldo would he join a team that can't make top 4? are they able to keep such highly paid players without champions league? although I see them getting 4th.

the situation as an outsider looking in is hilarious, but I do feel for them, its almost like liverpool after their golden era. while they had the easiest 6 games to start any EPL season, they have 5 points from 5, and are yet to play any heavyweights.

Just watched the city game. Both teams look so strong. Mangala what a defender he is. He has the lot. Him starting now means they will be a lot alot stronger

Good result for us though and frank scoring against them it will feel like a defeat for chelsea

The manu result is amazing. You have got to love them. i'd take us nit winning the title for 10yrs if it means them struggling like this and staying out of champs league for that period of time.

Spurs everton also lose. What a weekend this is why its the best league in the world

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mangala looks like a beast! That's what you get for £32m or as we like to do it; Welbeck and Chambers!

Agree with the hood. Vermaelen had an excellent debut and was scoring for fun in his first few games. I know you shouldn't keep an unhappy player, but I think it was a mistake letting him go.

Mangala looks like Kompany mk.2. Is unfair they now have two rocks at the back. That was Man Cities one weakness, their second CB as Demichelis and Lescott were average. The battle between City and Chelsea for the title (that hopefully may include us) will be intense.

Hello fellow gooners. I've been the typical always-followed-never-posted fan. This my first. Have been hearing a little criticism for the way we are playing our midfield but for once I'm optimist about our progress because it really might be a shaky start but a player like sanchez is a huge positive for us ozil is getting back in form. Can't wait for TW14 and players like Chambo and Caz give unfold depth in midfield.
The only concern is our options for CB. Bur being a typical arsenal fan gives me hope that matches like Man City and Crystal Palace we were not that bad afterall. Only if we don't concede in counter attacks which almost seems inevitable with the kind of strength our captain has. But Kos in my opinion has been really good this season. With the bright future of chambers and a midfield that boasts Ramsey Ozil sanchez Cazorla and Walcott in one single team gives us a good chance of winning some silverware this season. And 5 matches down, there's a lot of time to go. Let's hope ozil's form is here to stay and that he's finding is nick at the right time and cheers to (Henry of the poor) Danny Boy. And have to thank the eds for the wonderful work you guys do
P.S: I hope Dags cracks one of his jokes on this one

See, even in India i'm famous for my jokes.

My wife, while eating her dinner, was a little upset.

Me: "What's up hun?"

Wife: "I'm overweight".

Will be interesting to see today how Falcao and Van Persie work together. Both are very traditional number 9s and may be wanting to use the same space at times. I do think though with Rooney playing in the number 10 role it will mean we will always have two goal scorers where they need to be (right up in the opposition half), Rooney as we all know has the tendency to drop very deep and go missing from games. Really hoping for a good hammering today boys!

A big well done to you arsenal away fans, inparticular your support of Ozil.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Sep 2014 10:59:35
I think Carzola adds more balance to the team, as he can easily switch to the wing, it would be great to have JW and AR play more but somehow it messes up the balance of the team. And great shout to the Ox who was great even defensively, which is good to see, some more performances like this and even theo would struggle to get into the team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the Ox is a brilliant player and he does show bucket loads of commitment defensively (as he showed again yesterday)

Only problem is, if Sanchez plays the Ox doesn't. We still IMO need a Reus style player on the left. Don't get me wrong, I'm a bit fan of both Poldi and Cazorla but feel we need a Pires touch line hugger.

Imagine Reus Ozil and Sanchez behind the striker. Wow!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't really think we need Reus mate.
We have some brilliant young wingers Joel, Gnabry, Ox. I really think they deserve a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2014 13:00:36
Ox should be a starter simple as.

Better than Theo at his age.

Better than Theo?

Controversial.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2014 20:03:38
I'm with you on that one sheeny. The thing with the Ox is I think he could do a decent job played anywhere across midfield. I really do believe he could be a monster played as the holding midfielder he's a pretty clever young lad and I think he would adapt quick, but then what do I know.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Sep 2014 00:39:34
Thanks 101 but I actually disagree with you :P

I can't see him in mid. Especially dm.

I don't know why Wenger thinks so. Obviously he knows better than me but I can't see it. He's a top top winger. Maybe second striker later in his career but midfield? No chance imo.

Though I wouldn't be bothered to be proven wrong so long as he has the career I expect from him (and it's in an Arsenal shirt) :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Sheeny. He is a natural winger. I hope Wenger gives him more game time, he's a handful

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2014 10:58:14
Just a clarification, Wenger said the plan was to make Ozil play behind thier midfield, so does this mean in front of thier defense?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Behind the opposition's midfield means the space between their defence and midfield.

In other words, a free role as number 10.

Either way, I think that everyone will agree, that's the only place on the pitch Ozil should be playing!

Also for his assist he started the move from a central position with his ball to rambo then drifted left before taking the ball back and putting that beautiful ball across nice and low.

Mornings Ladies and Gents.
Was having a look at our squad at the Arsenal website and what I found surprised me.

Did you sorry lot know that Theo is our most longest serving player (games played in an Arsenal shirt/jumper)?
The man is 25 now if i'm not mistaken and he leads the list with 281 games for the gunners followed by Rosicky with 221.

Another surprise is Rambo at number 4 with 184 appearances just behind Flamini who had two spells for a combined 189 games.

Top 10

1. Theo 281
2. Rosicky 221
3. Flamini 189
4. Ramsey 184
5. Diaby 179
6. Koscielny 165
7. Szczesney 152
8. Gibbs 147
9. Wilshere 132
10. Arteta 124. Mertesacker 123

A part of me is happy that Theo Walcott is nearing 300 games for The Arsenal but another part of me is wondering where the time went. It feels like yesterday when he arrived from Southhampton, I remember thinking "here comes an Ian Wright and Henry love child".

Big shout out to Super Tom Rosicky. This guy could/should of had 350+ appearances had it not been for his dodgy knees a few years ago. I REALLY hope he retires with us. Its been a while since we've been able to wish one of our own goodbye properly.
Also a mention to guys like Gibbs, Rambo Shezza and Jack. These guys are 25 and under and have got a great deal of experience af the highest level under A LOT of pressure, but slowly and surely they are maturing one by one. Ramsey last season, Gibbs looking more and more like the Ashley Cole (spit on floor) replacement we'v been longing for, Szczesney finally has a proper keeper who will take his spot if he does not behave like a GK with over 150 games in an Arsenal shirt.

And Jack Wilshere.
This young man is 22 now, 132 games for us and about 20 odd for his country. For someone who is technically not even halfway there yet in his career and has missed at least 2 seasons of football with injuries. Those are some impressive numbers. Trust me, this guy will die an Arsenal legend.

So everyone's a little bit happier now off the back of an excellent away win against an admittedly under par and ill villa side.

We can now look forward to seeing Ospina make his debut on Tuesday and the fringe players like Rosicky, Poldi and Campbell amongst others get a game.

My only concern is who do we play at the back?

Ospina, Bellerin, Hayden are the obvious choices? Does Chambers play? Kos? Per? Who plays at left back? We are worryingly short of players!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ospina
Bellerin chambers Hayden monreal
Coq diaby
Cambell rosicky poldi

Carlsberg Dnt make moral lifting victories but if they did yesterday would of been one for u lads, well done.

That result alone shows why u have been a consistent top 4 team 4 years. After a really bad performance and result u come back strong and get a win. As ed25 has said, many teams would rip there left arm off to have your last 15 years. Are u going to win the league? Imo no. CL? Again Imo no.

Still feel its papering over cracks but u lads won't have a problem with top 4 again this season.

Again well done.

Great 3 away points, with wenger finally putting a close to balanced team out, going forward at least. How long will it be before we sort the arteta problem out, do we have to have another hammering, or are we stuck with him because the only person who would pick him or make him captain is wenger. I would like to think we can build on this and the next two or three weeks will be interesting, with walcot back and some very big games.

Big fan of his! I reckon we'd have signed him 3 Januarys ago if he didn't get injured

Agree0 Disagree0

Pulls out the spectacular every now and then but not consistent enough for me and certainly not defensive enough. If we were going to buy a player from Hull I'd prefer us to sign, Tom Huddlestone. Despite him being a former spud he sits in front of the back 4 and basically plays "quarter back". Great passer of the ball and would link defence and attack.
