Just had the pleasure of watching the 97/98 Arsenal 4, Everton 0 game again. Nice to watch a game with speed, skill, goals and lots of tasty tackles, and yet not once did the players get in the refs face, or roll on the floor, they just got up and got on with it.

{Ed025's Note - thanks for that stayloyal....now would you like kick me in the nuts?..

24 Mar 2015 21:28:24
Oops, Sorry Ed

{Ed025's Note - i will let you off this time mate.. :)

24 Mar 2015 22:05:27
My fondest Arsenal goal ever by Mr Adams.

Love it.

Cheer up Ed :-)

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - mine is michael thomas against liverpool in 1989 dags..

24 Mar 2015 22:24:26
Ahh, 26th may 1989.

My fondest Arsenal goal Ed.

Well, nothing wrong with changing my mind lol.

And exactly four years later to the day my son was born!

Guess what I called him?

Yep, James

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - love it sussex..

24 Mar 2015 23:10:11
My favorite Arsenal goal ever?
Pick a Bergkamp any Bergkamp, every year that passes I realise more and more how brilliant he was.
Just what would he be worth in today's market? And what wouldn't Derby do to have him in his all time XXXXI :-)

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - for me G62 the second best player ever to grace the prem, just behind thierry but ahead of shearer...you are so lucky to have had 2 players of that calibre at the same time..

25 Mar 2015 06:52:06
Great match, I was sitting in the West Upper tier at Highbury & recall Tony Adams looking up at us in triumph with his arms held aloft.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2015 07:08:55
I think the fact that we even have to think which one edged it shows just how lucky we were to have them Ed, for me Denis was pure class on grass and Thierry was supreme in the extreme, but its Bergy who would just get my vote, what a fantastic choice to have

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right G62, a very difficult choice for who was 1 or 2...but for me goal scoring is the most difficult art so its henry for me, but i can see why some will choose bergkamp mate..

25 Mar 2015 07:10:54
Bergie was epic gunner

Eds Zola and Ronaldo both better than big Alan. Immense goal scorer tho

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions derby mate..

25 Mar 2015 08:22:30
big alan as a goal scorer yes. i still believe if ronaldo played here all his life he would have the goals record by now most likley

but eds ye of course it is about opinions but i thought id throw some names in.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Bergkamp for me too, though Zola was close, Bergkamp was incredible, a modern day Dalglish. He made the whole team play better, as well as being special himself, that is why I would have him over anyone from the Prem era.}

25 Mar 2015 08:45:20
Ed,

One of my fave is your boy, Tim Cahill.

I love a goalscoring mid, like him and Ljungberg and Lamps.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2015 12:56:43
I may be a bit younger than others on here, I only caught Shearer at the back end of his career and thought he was a tap in and penalty expert only. However, my mate lent me a DVD with highlights of the first 20 years of EPL. Shearer scored pearlers regularly at Blackburn. That bloke was immense! definitely top 5 of the EPL. I'd throw Schmiechel up in the mix too, and Le Tissier has always been my favorite non-gunner. One other name I'd like to put up, considering Cahill was mentioned, is Viduka. Scousers still have nightmares about his work at Leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 20:39:08
If you could give the team talks to our players v both Liverpool and chavs what would you say?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - whack them scouse gits...and lets shove one right up mouinho,s jaxi.. :)

24 Mar 2015 22:06:43
I would just say 'play how you have been playing for the last 10 games'.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 22:41:37
That rock skrtel isn't playing go get at them. Esp Bambi on ice aka sakho.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 13:19:51
Just for the record

Skrtel has the best defensive stats at Anfield, he is theri number 1 defender without a doubt

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - stats? Nonsense sorry but he is simply not the number one or number 2, he is a liability.}

24 Mar 2015 15:07:20
Nope, Mignolet is their number 1 lol

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 15:19:29
I agree with Banbury, Skirtel is Liverpool's best defender. Indeed he scored the equaliser against us this season at Anfield. He is a player I wouldn't have minded having at Arsenal and is very similar in style to Gabriel and Koscielny.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - please take him.}

24 Mar 2015 15:35:54
id take him here i rate him

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Mar 2015 17:15:00
So because he runs about a lot (mainly due to poor positioning) and looks like a tough nut he's somehow good now?
Sheesh I no u gooners have been void of decent defenders of recent times I can only guess this has clouded ure judgment.

Hes not a top defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 17:39:36
Totally agree Chris,

Give me Smalling and Jones over Skirtl any day.

We need 3 defenders for our reserves 😆

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Mar 2015 18:17:39
That's why I'm here dags, to FORCE u to up your game :)

Still think my Herrera and smalling points have been proved correct.

Agree1 Disagree4

24 Mar 2015 18:53:51
Skrtel and Agga were a mid table paring at best, I've never understood why Liverpool stuck with eithrr of them so long.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 19:27:11
To be fair Chris, Smalling has had a good season.

Agree1 Disagree2

25 Mar 2015 12:59:35
Finally Dags, you are literally the first person I've seen to compliment Chris Smalling on a decent season. He's not up with the best but he's not the worst either. Nice to see non United fans acknowledge his improvement.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Mar 2015 01:10:35
Chris, we've been so devoid of good defenders, your lot tried desperately to take our reserve CB, before being gazumped by Barca. How's Valencia going as a defender?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 12:55:39
United fan here,

Hoping for an Arsenal win against Liverpool so that United have a cushion for the 4th spot.

Then we can fight among ourselves to see who finishes 3rd or 4th or dare I say 2nd.

i remember a post the other day about who would we sign as a striker whos available. one name that slipped my mind

lacazette add him to the DG list, a need server will be needed soon to log all the transfer targets

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - is he available?}

24 Mar 2015 12:06:21
Lyon will sell him this summer I believe

Non-Arsenal or rather non-footy related

That was some cliff-hanger in the cricket world cup (NZ vs RSA). Take a bow Grant Elliot

NZ can be thankful the weather disrupted the RSA batting innings, would have been a diff story if RSA batted a full 50 overs. It was a very good game!

Lol Derby,

I like that one 😉

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 03:38:40
It wil be extremly interesting to see if any of Liverpool's withdrawals from International duty don't make the match against us.
The players concerned are:
Sturridge
Lallana
Minolet
Lovren

All of whom I believe will mysteriously be fit to play against us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Lallana was injured against United, it is a genuine injury and the reason he was taken off at half time.}

24 Mar 2015 06:30:09
Liverpool have to play Arsenal days after the internationals, followed by the FA Cup replay a few days later and Newcastle in the league a few days later. I believe they are protecting their players, possibly Ed with the exception of Lallana, but we are unlikely to know whether he would have played for Liverpool if it hadn't been international week. I am intereted to see how many of Liverpool's players play in both international fixtures, compared to ours.
Meanwhile we will let all our players go and suffer the usual injuries and fatigue that these fixtures tend to bring.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Sturridge is the only one being protected, from those imbeciles in charge of England who continually misuse him and cause him injury after injury due to their ineptitude. Sometimes I wonder if it is a deliberate thing by Hodgson because he should know better by now.

The others are injured, Migs and Lallana picked up knocks against United, Lovren is out injured and has no reason to be protected as we are not short of centre backs. I know that sounds odd as we have had a midfielder playing there, but we have plenty who can cover Lovren's place on the bench and Skrtel's place on the pitch. Some matches we have had 3 possible alternatives on the bench!

The injury that would bother me, if I was Arsenal, is Ibe's. He should be fit to face you, as should Lucas, and those two are the ones that matter most in our side.}

24 Mar 2015 07:03:47
I agree, Ibe is a superb player and Lucas tends to play well against us, with his physical style. I am aware that some players picked up knocks in the United defeat, but if Liverpool were playing at the weekend, I am certain most would have played.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you are right there, I agree they probably would.}

24 Mar 2015 07:34:53
The qualifiers should be much shorter and on a two leg knockout basis with countriee who Luxemburg playing preliminary rounds during the previous world cup, then have two knockout rounds one in September the other in May.
Job done with little interference to the league campaign, who really cares about San Marino v Germany group game z! A knock out would be less tedious and more interesting.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 02:40:59
With Gerrard suspended and Skirtel likely to follow suit, it will be interesting to see if England withdrawals Lallana and Sturridge will be fit to play against us. I have a feeling they will.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Sturridge should be back, and I agree that he was withdrawn just to keep him away from the crappy management team at England, who would otherwise ensure he is out for the rest of the season injured.}

23 Mar 2015 22:35:25
Sturridge injured . Guessing he'll play against us tho. Could he be the next diaby

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Mar 2015 02:59:25
I have a feeling the withdrawal of Sturridge was stratigic and I have no doubt he will play against us.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 07:11:05
I don't blame him for dropping out. With his injury record the rest would do him good. I'm not a big fan of internationals i don't watch them they bore m . Prefer club football

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - same here.}

24 Mar 2015 08:32:43
Its the business end of the season.

If I was a club manager, I would withdraw my players through 'injury'.

Fergie did it for 26 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 08:37:24
I agree Derby, but I think it is unfair when it is clearly being manipulated by Liverpool, whilst we send our players away to get injured and fatigued.
Watch how many of the 'injured' Liverpool players turn up against us and Blackburn..... It reminds me of the days of SAF at United.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 09:58:55
Robbie. No one can be forced to play for England. It is what it is. Some feel club football is more important I agree.

Would I want to play under Roy a guy who we wil not progress under. No

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 11:50:11
Derby, are you saying if you by some miracle got offered the chance to represent your country alongside all the other national stars, you wouldn't? We aren't going to improve if our players don't even want to be playing for us, let alone be proud and passionate about playing.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 14:30:33
If I was English. On 150k a week I wouldbt be over fussed mate. Hogdson bores me I don't see us winning anything. I'd retire early from international and prolong club carear

I also wouldn't play on in prem too long like Rio at QPR. He should be in america or Qatar not getting relegated

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 15:03:24
I thought you were English which is why it caught my attention sorry. I can't make much sense of your post but I know I'd rather be playing or training over here in the Premiership or even the Championship as opposed to America and Qatar - Defoe backs that up but that's simply down to personal preference. I also wouldn't want any players in the England squad who aren't passionate about getting stuck in and representing England (which is true of many modern day English Premier League players) - and this is all coming from a half Welsh/half Jamaican person living in Nottingham.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 15:41:16
i am part english. defoe is on 80k a week for 3years. that's a mistake from sunderland he's past it. he went to america too early the time to go for him is now or next season.

rio looks awful. he's had a terrible season. il pick out drogba. he left with a champs league winning kick. why come back at 36 to be a sub. i wouldn't do it. there's a correct time to bow out. every dog has his day.

fair play to lahm retiring from german football at the top lifting the world cup legend

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2015 16:54:37
Lahm did the same thing as BFG in that respect?

Drogba is back to take up a coaching role at Chelsea in the long run I reckon, like Henry seems to be doing. I rate that because he wants to still be working in the football game, for his favourite club, after his retirement.

Rio does look awful but he may prefer to train with a club in an English league as opposed to playing football abroad. Also, he has his BBC work to do too. Some players would rather do a Raul (who is still playing for the New York cosmos yet we have all 'forgotten' about him) and then some would rather do a Zidane and stay in their country as a coach or something.

Anyway, I was originally saying that I'm fed up of players who don't seem to be proud of wearing an England shirt - Terry Butcher style.
