Sterling over theo all day. HIs ball control on the dribble is miles above theo and he's not that much slower so can still play out wide. Theo cannot do anything vs teams that sit deep. Sterling has more of a creative vision over theo who's footballing brain is subpar for a passing team like ours

Just my honest opinion

Do no one else agree with me that sterling would be better for us?

The biggest thing Sterling has that Theo doesn't is time, for Raheem he is doing very well for his age but Theo should be entering his prime years.
If you had to invest 20 million in one of them Sterling would be the sensible option

28 Mar 2015 23:21:24
yeah gunner62 if we had the option for a straight swap i would take it...infact id take it with a few mil going liverpools way...i know theo is liverpool fan and sterling is from the london area if i'm not mistaken...would this be a change that both players would welcome?(assuming each is happy with their offered pay check of course)

He has instinct which is something Theo lacks and can't be taught

29 Mar 2015 00:42:28
i was very impressed with him in the england lithuania game, sure poorer opposition but still some of his footwork i just kept telling myself Theo couldn't do that if he tried

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2015 03:10:18
Ive touched on this before theo is sterling 5 years ago, held back by injury. Its a problem for afew of our players, they are restricted in their progress by the fact they don't get the game time a 24 25 yearcold should have and are still immature. Theo, wilshire, ramsey, gibbs and diaby are prime examples. 25 year oldish players with the experiance of a 21 year old.

He's from Kingston... So not far off, just the wrong Kingston for you to be right about him coming from london

Good points their Steven, the Ox I have real expextations of for I just hope he can get this summer off and not play England friendly matches so gets a real physical and mental break and come into next season totally fresh.
Ox and Ramsey for me both still have a real shot at becoming very top players but for Theo jack and kieran the odds against it happening are increasing all the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2015 20:45:16
Gunner, i'm afraid the ox might be heading the same way, probably never fulfill his potential due to constant injury problems.

Didn't Ricky lambert score on his England debut and everyone say its was a fairytale, um not the best of fairytales as far as they go and can't see Disney making it into a film anytime soon.
As for rumplespudkin time will tell if he's a burning inferno orca flash in the sauce pan

The guy was over 30 at the time? Was never good enough. Moving to champs league club was silly

OK so Ricky was Benjamin button who's bubble burst and rumplespudkin is still a spud and when didn't there bubbles go pop?

Think we are all going the wrong way with the ideas for making the England team better by making the Premier League clubs falsely balance their sides.
By insisting on filling all the clubs with English players we will just keep encouraging those players to be mediocre.

A lot of home grown appear to be happy to attain the mid ground where they can earn an absolute fortune and still enjoy all the pleasures of the flesh - as opposed to making sacrifices to get to the top.
If you look at the players AFC have had over the years who looked like world class potential - ending up playing lower leagues.
(but also having a great life and lotsa money)

Compulsory English players isn't the answer because all that will do is force down standard's, casting the net further so as kids from Cornwall Norfolk and less fashionable fishing pools have as much chance as kids from a bigger towns or city who are local to big teams.
Making the dream more attainable for more people has to be progress, look at tennis pretty much an elitist sport that gives opportunity to very few but how many could have been Wimbledon champions who lived in social housing never picked up a racket because of not having a real opportunity.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2015 10:47:32
Liverpool and Cornwall have the same population but only two Cornish players have ever played in the premier league Nigel Martin and Mathew Etherington, I'm not sure how many Liverpool born players have appeared over the last 25 years for various clubs but at a guess 50+?
If we could give all kids an equal shot across the country we might have a premier league that's not only the best league in the world but also one that's heavily dominated but players who qualify for England too.

G62 the problem with the cornish is, every time they get in there tractor, they get as far as Devon.
And you can't beat a good pint of scrumpy:)

im from exeter and teams down here are dire, there's just no money for them and very little support, which i don't really understand because there's very few teams to choose from so you would think everyone would support them. but growing up you have to support a big team if you want to be able to watch football. exeter were in the conference when i was growing up so no tv coverage and dreadful to watch.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2015 15:15:26
eden what do you reckon if Torquay were in a partnership with say Arsenal and Plymouth say Liverpool and the Scilly isles with man u, to encourage youngsters to keep playing beyond discovering the opposite sex and alcohol. Do you think premier league involvement and spread across places like Devon Cornwall Norfolk would make a difference to kids attitudes to playing apposed to just watching the game.
I mean what about Yorkshire? What would they make of the premier league, no lace in the ball and the keeper not having a flat cap on :-) but seriously I do think big clubs having several academy's up and down the country would be good for the national game.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2015 17:14:11
I wouldn't really know much about that but it would be good to have a better pool of players for Exeter, I hope no one touches Plymouth and they slip away into obscurity :) in january Exeter sold Matt grimes to Swansea for a club record 1.75 mil hard to know if we could of got more if kept him for another year and maybe we might of been closer to the play offs we've dropped off since. But then can't stand in the way of a kids big move. And 1.75 is a massive amount to Exeter probs won't get another player like that for 5 or more years so would probably be good for Exeter if they had a partner with better players to call upon

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2015 20:17:14
But if we sent wilshere or diaby to Exeter we'd never find them again, I got confused to f going around the hospital.

Maybe that's where diabys been all these years not injured at all.

But how many prize winning Pasties have come out of Liverpool? How many welly wangerlers have come out of Manchester? How many Londoners can down 15 pints of farmer palmers best farm made scrumpy and then shear the odd field and plough a few sheep before sun down? Exactly!

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2015 07:48:27
I've got a cracking idea in regards to the homegrown talent 'issue'. Clubs should have to export a Home grown player of the same age as any foreign player that they bring in

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Mar 2015 08:21:31
I like the idea of a joint academy for premier league clubs and lower league clubs, even more than one partnership.
Where the premier league team puts in money and expertise and the smaller club the major part of the time and effort. If it produce 1_PL player every few years and maybe half a dozen football league players it would be a step in the right direction.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2015 20:06:27
Problem with that is that lower leagues would be filled with failed foreigner youth prospects giving British players even less hope

Reports that Welbeck has picked up a knee injury. I hate the International break, all they do is return our players injured or fatigued. Whilst our next opponents Liverpool have managed to pull out quite a few players 'injured'. It will be interesting to see how many miraculously turn up against us on Saturday. I hope Welbeck's injury doesn't keep him out too long.

Don't like giving Spuds credit, but jeez, Harry Kane.

Fairytale season.

He looked good in white kit tonight, the same white kit he will be wearing next season for Madrid.

It will be interesting to see how Kane fairs next season, when teams have had a chance to work him out and plan for him. I have a feeling he has the talent to come through this test. Assuming he continues to improve, how long will the Toot be able to hang on to him, when Europe's top clubs come knocking on his door.

I'd of taken him red dog . I know real have a buy back clause and that's why we said no but I can't see him getting back into Madrid team ahead of Kane . :)

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2015 09:58:31
I think most of us would have taken him Derby, he's made 9 full appearances with 14 as sub for Juve and got 7 goals. Not prolific as yet, but definitely has the attributes.

Be interesting to see how he gets on. Re Kane he is on a fantastic run and given the chance has grabbed it with both hands and to think they were going to let him go.

Could be a ready made replacement for Rooney if he keeps it up.
