Any updates over the Suarez deal & whether Sanchez is expected to be included? Also have we increased our bid?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unless they kidnap him Sanchez ain't going to Liverpool, imo he will be in our shirt next season IF he comes to the PL

What did everyone make of Debuchy tonight them? My fears came true as I really don't think he does a lot going forward in comparison to Aurier but he didn't do a lot wrong as the pen wasn't technically given!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Far better than Aurier. He is used to the PL and kept Sagna out of the French team for the entire World Cup campaign. Aurier has something Eboue-ish about him and would depart for the African Cup of Nations. The main factor in Aurier's favour is age.

Agree0 Disagree0

Debuchy has got temporary stop gap written all over him. Solid enough, prem experience, relatively cheap. And the right age to let jenks/bellerin mature that little bit longer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gav - I think you are underestimating Debauchy. He was selected ahead of the excellent Sagna for France in the World Cup and he stood out playing for Newcastle in the PL. I think he would be a clever signing, allowing Jenkinson to progress and Bellerin to come through.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't dispute he's a good player rob, just his age is was saying he's a stop gap player really.

I should think he'd slot straight in. Prem experience. Going to know giroud well ish I'd guess.

Solid replacement to me.

Debuchy, Schneiderlin, sanchez and Lovren would make for a successful window in my eyes. Although I'd like Di maria to :)

How good was that Remeeee chap, wow, he will take us to a different level. . . erm 3rd.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they should have brought him on BG..

04 Jul 2014 21:15:00
There's little doubt he'll gone on to become a legend, finally beating all time leading goal scorer John Ritchies record.

For Stoke City :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Banbury u r a dh as he was not played, if. He was it would have been at least 1-1

Agree0 Disagree0

Maidstone

whoooooshhhhhhhh

LOL

You missed the point

o dear

Agree0 Disagree0

I should also add Maidstone, you must have missed some of the game then. perhaps you r a DH lol

Say NO to Benzema!

Say NO to Remy!

Too bad we already have Giroud otherwise I would have said say NO to him too!

These French strikers are pathetic.! Unless we are getting Pogba or Grenier, then no more French players in our squad please Mr. Wenger
(too bad we seem to be signing or have already signed Debuchy)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Jul 2014 10:06:37
I could excuse you're ignorance with Remy, but Benzema??, he's as good a striker as anyone playing in the EPL right now or anything we've had in a while.

I think the bulk of our budget should go on rounding up all the Porto scouts.

Every year they seem to sell off a big player for obscene money and then replace him with the following years money spinner!

Hulk,
Falcao
James Rodrigez
Jao Moutinho

Any others I can't think of?

Now its Martinez and Mangala

Back in the day it was Deco & co.

It's like Wenger in his early Arsenal days just plucking gems at will

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol you may be on to something there!!

I did a bit of googling Beer,

Apparently in the last 10 years they've grossed nearly €1bn (~£800m) netting some €400m.

Obviously I don't want to be a feeder club but they've offloaded quality and replaced them equally quick

Agree0 Disagree0

I've often wondered similar things myself: I.e- how do they consistently find these gems.

I think it's mainly due to extensive scouting in previously lesser explored nations (columbia) as oppose to spain/italy/brazil/Africa.

I think also they get blooded in an average league that dabbles in Europe. It seems to be the right blend for experience and confidence.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is also easier for them to get work permits for the players than it is in the UK.}

04 Jul 2014 15:55:28
Now that we've signed Ben queef who will be our next signing?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Jul 2014 15:19:50
not really a transfer rumour but do you see Eisfeld getting much game time this season? he looks very promising from what I've seen of him? If not is there any teams who would be interested in taking him on loan? Think it would be a shame to see a player of his ability stuck in the reserves.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Jul 2014 17:41:35
Reminds me so much of Freddie

would love to see him get game time. Really thought he would have seen it last year but hasn't even gotten a proper look in for the League cup.

Hopefully this year. I've had high hopes for him since he joined

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed he's talented but you've Got to remember that he's 6 months younger than Goetze and 11 months younger than neymar, even someone like the ox or sterling, much younger and a different class, at his age he really should have had some regular 1st team experience whether at arsenal or on loan, I don't see a future for him at arsenal, could do well at somewhere like Berlin or one of those lesser bundesliga sides just my take on the situ though

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2014 00:12:15
I agree with you Saint. It's getting late, but I don't understand why he hasn't been given a chance or loaned.

I'm worried he'll be let go without been given a shot.
Would be gutted if that happened!

Could be something to do with injuries though.
Didn't he get a v bad achilles injury or something of sort? Apparently why Dortmund let him go.

Hearing rumours that Sanchez agent has suddenly decided to follow arsenal, giroud and cazorla on twitter. happy face!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I follow them all on twitter, doesn't mean I'm signing for Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh, was that not you on the jet at heathrow earlyer g95?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2014 16:05:20
G95, this is an agent though; you are a fan.
Fernando Felicevich, Sanchez's agent, only follows a few clubs besides Arsenal, too: Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United, and SC International. For someone to be following only a few clubs and only 168 accounts total then suddenly follow Arsenal along with 4 of its players (Ozil, Giroud, Arteta, and Santi) in one day, brings up the questions, why does this guy like Arsenal and his 4 players? And especially, why now? He could have added way earlier, like two years ago, if he had liked them this much. Also, on his "following list," the account of the Arsenal players and the account of Arsenal are RIGHT next to each other, which means that Felice was purposely searching for Arsenal players right after the other.

Someone might ask, "well what if he's just following us and our players because he looked online and saw his player was heavily linked with Arsenal and just decided to follow us?" To that I say, then why doesn't he follow Liverpool and Steven Gerrard?

Yes, of course, this can just be a coincidence and mean nothing, and he may just have had the urge to suddenly like Arsenal and its players after remembering how great of club we are and what awesome players we have; however, I think there was more of reason for him to follow these players and club than just to expand one's "following list." I think we may have just clinched Sanchez

Agree0 Disagree0

This happened last summer. Jack and co followed Higuain, he didn't sign. It happens all the time and every club. I do really hope we sign him though!

Sanchez or di Maria

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sanchez, can play more positions and would suit the way be play perfectly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez. If Cazorla was to go, Di Maria would be perfect.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2014 15:30:42
Uhn both would be nice maybe too attacking.

Di maria. Ramsey. Ozil

Sanchez. Walcott

Agree0 Disagree0

Di Maria for me, got so much to his game, and the ball is stuck to his foot.

But I think Sanchez is a better finisher.

Hi Ed, do you know what's the situation with Miquel? According to transfermarkt his contract has ran out yet I'm pretty sure he was in the training pictures. So do you know if he
a) has a year remaining? or
b) has signed a new contract?

A couple of years ago I thought he was going to make it but now it seems he needs a miracle to have a future with us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the contract dates aren't always correct on there, as it can often change due to clauses within the contract. I believe he has one more year left, but it is so difficult to tell, there are no reliable sources for length of contracts, especially among younger players. It is not even easy to ask around, it seems to be one of those things that no one really takes notice of, not when it is younger players anyway.}

04 Jul 2014 08:19:10
I hope the Debauchy rumours are true, as I have been impressed by him, both at the World Cup and whilst playing for Newcastle. I was not over-impressed by Aurier, there was something Eboue-ish about him and we would lose him for the Africa Nations Cup.
Rumours of Ruddy have re-appeared and in my opinion he would be a good choice, being experienced, tall and English, which helps the foreign quota. The other rumour that has re-emerged is Schneiderlin, who is a decent player, adding pace to the defensive midfield role.
Sanchez would be a great marquee signing.
We then need at least one CB or two, if Vermaelen departs. My sensible choices would be Hangeland and Lovren.
Striker-wise, if Campbell joins, we would have plenty of options: Giroud, Sanogo, Walcott (pushed forward), Sanchez & Campbell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd be happy with
Richards for RB/CB which would introduce Jenks gradually over the season when Micah was covering CB
Spyder to fill that massive hole in the DMF position.
Sanchez for that pace to bring out the best in Ozil and goals that would see him win PL top scorer and Ozil break assists records galore.
Campbell who is ours anyway to provide added width and pace.
That would imo be an excellent summer

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - do you like Richards then? Even though Patrick Vieira said he was last in to training and first out?}

I didn't know anything about the training thing Ed but at a guess it must be difficult to train well when you know the manager doesn't rate you and you can't displace the man ahead of you, not sure but maybe there's a reason for it.
Yeah I do rate him very highly I think like Daniel Sturridge At city and chelski he's wasted at city and given the chance will shine at the right club.
In Mancini's PL title win he was excellent and I think can and will be again at his next club be it Arsenal Liverpool or whoever, hope its us

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no mate, he was doing that from the start, hence why he is unwanted. Terrible attitude, real big time charlie who threw away his own career at City with his attitude. They were desperate for him to be a success, as he is home grown, but he let himself down. You are just making excuses because he was a regular when he was fit, nothing to do with them wasting him. He just showed a poor attitude in training, which led to a lack of fitness, which caused injuries and he lost his place. By coming back and again not showing a good attitude he was never going to win back his place.}

G62,

How many games has he played in the last 2 years. I'm pretty positive I could count them on my hands.

We do not need anymore injury prone players, we have enough as it is!

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2014 11:38:39
Have to agree with Ed.

If you are not a regular starter than you work twice as hard to displace the bloke in front of you.

Come in an hour earlier for training, and stay an hour later than the other bloke.

Show the manager how committed you are and he might play you more often. Plus, if you are not playing regularly, than you need to keep your fitness levels up, hence the extra training.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner62

I was a fan of Micah Richards, but he has a poor injury history and I have heard that he has an attitude problem.
Debauchy on the other hand seems a tailor-made replacement for Sagna, even to the extent that he is keeping him out of the French national team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair comments Ed and Gang, I bow to your better knowledge as I wasn't aware of the attitude problems so scrub him off my list above!
Dont tell me Spyder has a drink problem and Sanchez won't play against teams that wear blue or red :-) I really must get out more

Agree0 Disagree0

There seems to be a growing consensus that no new signings will be revealed until the 12th when the new kit is launched.
Just 8 debating and hoping days to go now people and we will all be either reliving that beautiful Ozil moment or? Well let's not spoil the weekend thinking about Nani Cleverly and Remy :-)

Good post G62, but you spoilt it with the last word.

6/10, stay behind after school and write 100 lines saying 'I will not upset Dags anymore'.

Just a quick one and hope it posts, eds what do you think the odds are in us signing both kheidra and Di Maria? Or will it be one or the other as both would pretty much set us up cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would guess numerically odds of both are way out there. Don't spend you money gambling. Buy food for the poor and homeless.}

Is the Debuchy deal pretty much done now?
