Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

No point even posting about today's game.

Abysmal.

But, trying to remain positive and upbeat.
We all know we have no chance of challenging for title, but I'm just going to cling to the dream we will finish in top 4.

Chelsea and City apart, I still think we are the best out of a very poor chasing pack.

Man Utd scare me a bit.
Southampton will tail off.
Liverpool are average and too inconsistent.
Spurs, well they are just Spurs really.

I still think we are just 2 players away from turning our season around.
When I say 2 players, I mean good players. Players like Hummel's and Schneiderlin will change our fortunes in the January window.

OK, chances of us getting them are slim, wafer thin or anorexic, but we have to believe.

Debuchy and Walcott are close to a return, and boy, do we need them.

We need to have a good festive period, pick up points and get some confidence back into this team.

Keep the faith people.

Now, where did I put my tablets?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Being positive upbeat and optimistic about 4th before the new year even gets here Dags?
Kind of says it all really, we've gone backwards
This time last year the title was ours to lose 12 months on and top four is ours to dream of

Agree0 Disagree0

It is getting like a broken record Dags! The picture I keep seeing in my head is of Wenger sitting on the bench looking utterly clueless and lost. It really is quite sad to see.

Wow! Thought we turned a corner after 3 clean sheets in a row but our defending today was hopeless. 3-0 down at half time is unacceptable! There no point of having all this attacking quality if there isn't a base to work from.

If wenger doesn't buy atleast 3 defensive minded players in January then we don't have a chance to win anything. Koscienly injury doesn't look like its going to go away soon and reinforcement are needed asap. Time for wenger to step up and prove to us that he still deserves the job and no hide behind the injuries.

We need 2 cb and a dmf, I like metersaker but without sagna and koscienly beside him he looks hopeless. The recovery pace both players had always got him out of trouble but now when he has to be leader on the pitch he is falling really short.

I still have a lot of respect for wenger but if he fails to address our issues then I think I might have to jump on the wenger out bandwagon.

There no point of always going on about how you always finish 4th and get through to the last 16 of the champions league if there no chance of winning it. Its the winning that counts and not the taking part.

Premership players i'd sign. Begavic. Clyne. Alderweireld Wanyama. Schindelrlin. Bony. Benteke

Prem proven players and would make us solid and competitive.

Derby,

Shall we get a few boys together from this site, hire a transit van and kidnap a few Southampton boys? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder if we sign enough Saints players to go with the ones we have if they will let us be the Arsenal Saints - then we could sing their catchy theme song.

Not for me let's be the gunners and get our own players going. Missed Arteta quite a bit today especially with the kids out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 19:50:59
Sunderland player's did their best to help us beat them on the day and through injury not a sending off Southampton went down to 10 before we could score against them mid week plus Anderlecht's one minute of madnesses in Belgium!
I just hope our luck holds out this season because if it turns against us we really are in trouble, in truth we probably have more than we deserve from this season so far

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fair shout 62, it is quite incredible how poor we have been.

We have been picked off very easily in matches

Agree0 Disagree0

Th sexy football has gone mate and hasn't been replaced by affective clinical football but more of a worst of both, neither one thing or the other.
Its difficult to to argue with the many pundits who que up to say how we have gone backwards this season, injuries? When don't we have injuries! They alone don't cover the decline we seem to be in.
If it was any other club in the world there would be questions asked of the man in charge at least

My thoughts from today's game.

1) Giroud has once again proven that he isn't good enough to lead the line if we're to challenge for silverware. At 1-0 he could have levelled the game with the simplest of headers, he was inside both of the posts and he still managed to put it wide. I've to to think that Welbeck would have buried it.

2) I wish we didn't score those 2 goals. That first half performance was as bad as I've ever seen from us, and though it was a decent fight back, Wenger didn't deserve to be in the position where he could commend our 'strong spirit, and character' as he's such an egomaniac that he'll never admit that he's at fault for the sorry situation we're in at the moment. Fair play to Kroenke for coming out and saying it's not good enough and that we need to buy cover for all areas of the pitch. Might get the old git to pull his finger out for once in the January window.

3) I hope that goal, which was very well taken, is a sign of Ramsey returning to last year's form, he's been in a right rut recently but that goal has to do something for his confidence, maybe now he'l stop trying too hard and just play and enjoy himself.

4) I love Alexis, but he is SO frustrating to watch at times. The amount of times he had a free man to his outside and he either passed or turned inside was ridiculous, as a wide man, he provides us with much needed width and pace, but he's restricting that width by trying to do too much on his own, we'd have probably created to many more chances if he's laid a few balls to the overlapping man.

5) Mertesacker is past his best now. He looked lackadaisical at the best of times, his pace as always been a problem, but more recently he can't get the defence organised like he used to, mis times tackles and fails to pick up and cover runs into the box. I think he'll still make a great squad player but we need to replace him in the starting 11. Let's hope for Hummels but I still doubt we'll sign anyone in January.

So after choosing to not watch three matches, and hearing about the new discipline and tactics we were applying to our game, I thought I'd join the old man at the pub to see this new system for myself. Unfortunately I was treated to the same old Wenger, same old Arsenal, same old crap. So I'm going to resume my boycott of watching games until Wenger either resigns, gets sacked, or makes more than a loan signing in January. I have much better, more enjoyable things to do with my weekends and weekday evenings.

But that won't stop me from ranting on here! I'm still a gooner after all!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree mertesacker needs to be sold he's way too slow and clumsy Giroud is not a killer he should of buried the header last week against Southampton he's a squad player just like welbeck. Podolski didn't do much either Campbell deserves a chance. Bellerin shouldn't be too upset he has a better future than most of our back 4 Sanchez is quality should of scored but he needs to pass the ball flamini was pathetic we need 3 players in January 2 cb and 1 holding midfielder

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent post.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with all you say. You will still get people backing wenger tho. Zzzz

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 23:36:41
Can't disagree with any of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 18:20:53
Koscielny is the backbone of our defence! Without him I'd rather us play 3.5.2 like Manchester United and try outscore our opponents! Chambers and bellerin has got talent but need more games to mature! Disappointed with the result!😞

Believable0 Unbelievable0

At the moment I'd rather we called the game off.

No sense in Wenger taking him today and sticking him on the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 18:01:03
Dag's we need some jokes to lighten the mood.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The biggest joke today was the ref!

Giroud has gone home looking like he's done 10 rounds with Tyson and chambers gets sent off!

Don't get me wrong I hate excuses but before chambers went off we were on for a big comeback

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 18:53:49
Couldn't agree more, 337.

Guy was reminiscent of the muppet we had when Villa beat us on the opening day last season.

Guy let so much go and every call went Stoke's way.

I mean football is the most popular sport in the world, and generates more money than one could ever care to imagine, yet officials like this are still allowed into the game. It's an absolute joke that such inconsistencies continue to ruin the sport!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 23:15:05
Gooner62,

I think my jokes will make things worse :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags is probs taking a long hard look in the mirror after being back to wenger in after them lucky wins lol.

You could be right Derby :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 17:22:43
Five things we learnt today;

1. Bellerin ain't ready yet
2. Kos is our kompany
3. Ramsey hasn't forgotten where the net is
4. Sanchez is human
5. Stoke CAN play football

Gutted but another game which we could have won even after being 3-0 down. Fancy hitting the post from 3 yards after slaloming past everyone, Sanchez not fit to where the shirt?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2014 17:31:31
Chamber is not a CB

Agree0 Disagree0

6. Charlie Adams CAN wrestle.

I was half expecting Sanchez to shout he can't breate after that NYPD style chokehold.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would add Chambers after a bright start is showing his in-maturity aswell, We are paying the price in not replacing TV5 with experience.

Yes Stoke can play a bit Bojan is their stand out player technically.

Stoke are effective because they do the basics of the game very well. Things like marking, set piece delivery, staying compact picking up runners etc. Basics that we on the other hand fail to do with any decent consistency.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a worry Sheeny because he certainly didn't look like a RB against Swansea either

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 18:23:43
Spot on Ryan. Basics is the name of the game when looking fir consistency. Arsenal were the masters of doing the basics while making it look sexy. What's happens?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 19:55:08
Im with you there g62 but I was worried the following week he'd be cut asunder by Di Maria the following week and he wasn't.

It was by far his worst performance at RB and a terrible performance by any standard but that can be considered a poor day at the races.

Today we saw why he hasn't been played at CB, he is far from ready. On the flank you can allow a man past you so long as you sheppard to the line. In the centre its a different business.

And bellerin was lucky Walters didn't look up a couple of times, there was a handy hat rick for Diouf, he's positional sense was absolutely atrocious. And I'm not trying have a go at the lad I want him to succed but its the most basic attribute you need as a defender. Particular in a game now where tackling is so harshly judged.

Back to Chambers though its just really peeved me lately that people thought he was being played out of position. I don't think he has a full 90 of competitive senior football at CB

Agree0 Disagree0

Chambers I'm afraid is not up to it, he gets exposed against . not very good players.

He has been poor at RB and now very poor today at CB.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 22:38:19
He's 19 Banbury, he's nearly 10 years away from his peak. I think he'll have a fine career with us

Agree0 Disagree0

Chambers will be a good cb in time

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 17:08:51
We just don't have the caliber of players we need to win period only Sanchez and Kos are top quality

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It is a much about attitude as ability, we are failing to the basics of defending with any reliability. Basics that any premier league defensive unit should be able to do.

Stoke are effective side because although they may not have real star quality they simply do the basics of the game very well. They are no frills if you like but they play to the their strengths and play the percentages very well.

If Arsenal did the basics as well as Stock then we would be an much more complete side and much closer to Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think deep down we all know it and accept it but its that hope against hope that's keeping us going.
Very few actually think things will change in the near future but everyone of hopes they do

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 17:00:56
3-2 Decent fightback in 2nd half but you just can't expect to win any game starting so sloppy defensivly as we did. All the goals should have been easily avoided the 1st one was really bad just soo weak.

That Bojan is good player mind we never got a hold of him really. Silly 2nd Yellow for Chambers leaving us even more down to the bones defensivly.

We just gave ourselves too much work to do to get back we must start to defend with strength and with more conviction else we will get knowhere.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2014 17:30:35
Bojan is not a good a player in my books, he's been bounced around in obscurity for the last 4 years and gone down step by step from Barca to Stoke. We were just brutal

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 15:40:00
Dear me terrible defending for both goals 2-0 should have been easy clearance for first and nobody picking up the scorer up for the 2nd. Our record at Stoke is just as bad as against the Chelsea and Utd and City.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2014 15:35:47
Someone explain to me why KOS is a sub, if he isn't fit then he shouldn't be there, if he is fit then he should start.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2014 15:35:00
now 2-0

Stoner

who is the realist .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2014 16:13:15
Banbury its zero to do with being a realist, I don't expect us to win every game and three bankers for an Arsenal loss are Chelsea, United and Stoke.

When you're next out with your intellectual mates and your doing the talking, spin around quick and see who is doing the comedy slashing of their wrists and who is doing the hangman gag.

We're having a rubbish season, which is exactly what you've been hoping for so why so bloody miserable?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sums you up

Stoke should NEVER be a banker to lose

DOH!!!!

Of course it is everything to do with realism ( check the dictionary chap), I realistically look at a game and see what I think the score will be.

Not shout 3-0 or 4-0 each week.

And no I don't want us to lose each week, just enough to finish 7th to bomb Wenger out.

We are falling further and further behind each season.

Agree0 Disagree0

By the way I'm not miserable, log burner on, Xmas decorations are up.

Reasons to be cheerful

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 17:06:36
Jeez there's no help for you fella, I don't predict 3 or 4 nil wins and I don't predict losses to Stoke, City or United.

That was an opinion given in a lower post, another comment by the neg heads. Try and keep up.

Enjoy the Pre packed Christmas dinner for one, you've earned it. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

If you read my posts I don't recall saying you did predict a 3 or 4 nil win? Please, I might be wrong. .but I doubt it.

I can't keep up if I am so far in front of you . . . .surely.

It's not pre-packed, the chef cooks it and the waitress serves it.

06 Dec 2014 14:46:05
You want us to lose mate so why do you even give a flying one.

Are you renowned for being the lifeless soul of the party. Jeez, cheer up mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chambers at CB Bellerin RB, will finally see if what many posters have been calling for will actually work. I suspect we are going to be very fragile at the back - might need a Sanchez hatrick to save us

Agree0 Disagree0

No

Im a realist unlike some that keep posting 3 or 4 nil

As I speak Stoke are 1 up

what did I say

Some of you are in a dream world

oh I'm not your mate either lol

Who is to blame

Chambers . . . . what have I said against him.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 15:14:57
To be fair Banbury I'd be genuinely amazed if you had any mates :-)

Shame your man Giroud just missed an open goal.

Realist, hmmm.

Agree0 Disagree0

My mates have to pass an IQ test, hence I know you aren't one lol

I am a realist, clearly you aren't if you think a forward should score with every chance he has.

Unlike you I don't think we will win every game we play.

We have won 1 in 9 visits to stoke

No Shez, No Debuchy, No Kos, No Walcott, No Wishire and No Ozil, worst start to a league campaign in 30 odd years.

Don't choose my lottery tickets will you lol

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 12:31:13
AW this is how we need to play - like its the last chance you will have to ever pull on that red and white shirt or have the cannon on your chest!

"Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted. one moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip?"

Play this in the changing room and when the players come out.

Be proud to wear the cannon and play for you, the team and the fans.

Just an aside to Wenger vs. Mourinho

11 years ago Wenger stuck his neck (and something else) way out and said. This team can go unbeaten. And he was thought a fool, and made fun by the media. And he was wrong that season, and owned up to his failure. But it was only a failure because he wasn't afraid to set the challenge.

We all no what happened the following season.

Mourinho. Like last year, and his "small ponies", is a coward

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2014 12:37:35
Mourinho on his first visit to the Premier League was a breath of fresh air.

Every time I see or listen to him now I have visions of a ships Anchor.

I know posters are besotted with comparing Wenger with Mourinho and his poor record against him and use it as another reason to put him down.

I'd simply ask how would Mourinho's feted team or indeed any of his teams faired against the real Invincibles. The stats would show the opposite to what they do now.

Mourinho has never shown the ability to get a team to play like Wengers best and best against best he would be the loser all day long.

Hazard and Courtois would be great to have on the bench, beyond that none would make our Invincible team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho just got Beaten!

That should wipe the smugness from his face for a bit

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 17:43:50
Of course it won't he'll just say.

"i always said we were going to lose"

And smell of smug because he was right about that

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 11:03:04
what I will say is, sooner or later we are going to hammer someone with the amount of chances we create, the Man U, WBA and Southampton games have seen us create so many chances with a very poor conversion rate, that will change .

Clean sheets has to be where we start though

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Dec 2014 11:31:34
I hope so but for 18mnts it's not unusual for us to have 20 chances a game, and not score more than 2, if that even.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 10:42:51
0 2 today. Another clean sheet

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think 0-0 mate.

Is Kos fit?

Agree0 Disagree0

0-3 Giroud with 2, the ref to do his laces on 37 mins and the ox to run straight through shawcross on 56 mins and leave him on the floor crying, Sanchez to assist 2 goals and score the third and Martinez to make two fantastic saves on 12mins and 88mins.

Sorry I can't give more details that's all I have!

Agree0 Disagree0

1-3, you heard it here first.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 12:49:47
337,

You're not really trying there mate ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Stoner, I was driving, whilst drinking a latte putting my make up on and cooking a roast dinner so it was hard to write everything I know :-p

Missing Info:

AW will take a sip of water at 11, 23, 43, 58, 72, 81 and 89 mins, Bouldy will nod his head silently at 3 intervals in the first half and four in the second.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you must be male, because every woman I have known can do all those things while having a full conversation without any difficulty at all.....}

Male during daylight hours and go by the name "Leesa" in the evenings, I get a lot more done in the evenings funny enough ed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes, but unfortunately all of it will have to be redone properly in the day.....}

06 Dec 2014 14:29:23
Now I'm thinking that not only are you competition for Dags but Flybo too. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Easy Stoner, I draw the line at stalking!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 10:32:40
Hi guys. Been away a while. Dags, G65, Banbury, Red Dog. Good to be back. Haven't posted in a while, but I have been reading every post as it comes up. I can see 337 is an up and coming joke-star while Dags is still to find his funny bone :).

Nervous about Stoke, we have enough injuries as it is. I hope we come away unscathed. 19 teams in the EPL play football and they play more of rugby lol.

I can see G62 is now a convert. I wouldn't call it the "Wenger out brigade", but something more subtle like "Thank you for your time, it's time to move on Arsene brigade" :). Welcome aboard G62. Come May 2015, Dags, Red Dog and 337 will all be part of the crew :)

On a more serious note, I am hoping for 3 points. A nice and comfy 3 nil victory will do us a world of good going into the Christmas period.

Come on you Gunners!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanx rue,

I am in the "AW needs an assistant like Henry or Bergkamp and should only move on once we have a replacement within brigade"

And as for Dags, I think he is very funny but don't tell him.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 12:45:19
Rue,

You can count me in the Wenger in brigade and reading all the "Thank you for your time, it's time to move on Arsene brigade" it was interesting to see, as it nearly always happpens, than none of them replied to Red Dogs post and Dagenhams reply.

There was so much truth in them both that just gets washed aside because people don't look at the big picture, just little snap shots of either other managers or teams through Wengers tenure.

I genuinely believe he will come good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Rue there comes a time when no matter how much you want someone to be right you've got to just accept the facts not everyone but them can be wrong.
Arsene has baffled us all at times over the years with his decisions tactic's and selectios but as they say you can fool some of the people some of the time, but theose people are getting fewer and fewer by the week both on and off the pitch

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 18:45:38
Welcome back Rue.

And thank you 337, lol.

Stoner, you are so correct my friend.

Stoke.

Steve Sidwell, Glenn Whelan, Victor Moses, D Teixera, Robert Huth, Peter Odemwingie all definitely out injured.

Stephen Ireland and John Walters very doubtful.

Hmmmmmm.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No disrespect but we shouldn't be to concerned even if vthey were fit, its Stokes's style that bothers us most andcletscface it they do enjoy bothering us don't they
