Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

Just reading George graham interview saying arsenal will beat the spurs to the top four have to agree.

But just wondering people's thoughts on him after all he brought to our club did h ruin it all or do some fans think his betrayal to the dark cold place of our shadow shouldn't matter he done unreal stuff for us that should be remembered over it.

Personally I think he is a dirty rotten person (said I'd save ye the hassle eds of changing it to person) ;) it was the biggest betrayal he could have done and will never be a arsenal legend cause of it and rightly so.

Just wanted to hear everyone else's. opinion.

Believable3 Unbelievable13

Arsenal legend in my book would also put Jennings in there even though he was at Spurs before he come to us.

I don't really have a problem with his post Arsenal career. Yes it was a disappointment to see him at spurs but that's life. When Sol Campbell joined us from the "other side" there wasn't many gooners complaining then.
What Graham did for Arsenal in the late 80s and early 90s mirrors what Wenger has done and is continually trying to achieve. Creating teams with limited spending.
Despite his spell at spurs one thing you can be certain of is he has Arsenal in his blood.
There wasn't a manager in the world at that time who could take a team to Anfield, needing to win by 2 goals and pull it off. It was organisation at the highest degree. The same when we won the Cup Winners Cup against Parma. That whole campaigne was a defensive masterpiece planned and directed by Graham.
As for the end of his reign as Arsenal boss, what a mess! Maybe it came as a good excuse to get rid as the club were wanting a change of direction.
Last point. If it wasn't for Graham would the careers of players like, Adams, Seaman, Winterburn, Dixon, Keown, Rocastle, Davis, Merson, Smith and Wright to name a few reached the heights they did? A lot more to be happy about I believe.

Totally agree Paul. He was founder/creator of the best back 5 ever to grace English football. A couple of brown envelopes shouldn't hide what he did for arsenal and don't forget he was the one that got caught at a time when back handers were the norm.

In two weeks time the race for top 4 should be in our hands. Norwich at weekend should be an easy 3 points (hopefully) then Everton will be hard as there pushing for a top 4/5 finish and then away to Fulham with the spurs playing man city and Chelsea away to Liverpool that weekend. We could be breathing down man city's neck who would of predicted this a couple of months ago. Then its united for us looking forward to the reception rvp gets.

Here's an idea.

Go offer Madrid the full 70 million for:

Casillas, Ramos and Higuain.

Those three are champions, won titles before Ronaldo got there, and all are on the outs w Mou, who Madrid will scratch and claw to keep if he wins the CL

Casillas, Ramos, Wilshere and Higuain is one hell of a spine

Hell, offer 80. But if we are dreaming about Cavani, Gotze, Jovetic and co. , dream about some real champions

Believable14 Unbelievable11

Did Madrid not sack Capello after he won the league or something?

Agree4 Disagree0

I'd love Higuain

1404

Agree6 Disagree6

Casillas will never leave Real no matter who is the manager. Ramos is not better of our current first team defenders. Higuain for me is not very good and that is why Real have problems up front (when Ronaldo have a day off). For 80 mil you could have much more! Just trust Wenger! He will surprise us again!

Agree3 Disagree8

Some players are just loved by their fans. and ramos and casillas are exactly those. ramos is one of the best CB's in the world considering he converted from RB.

Casillas is for me the best GK in the world and only neuer and buffon are in the same strata.

Higuain may be the only possibility. but for some reason we never buy players from big clubs. don't know why.

Since QPR are likely to be relegated,

Who would you guys take from the QPR team?
In other words, who from the QPR side is good enough or worth being in the Arsenal side?

I'd say;

Cesar, Remy. that's all I can really think of tbh.

Nick.

Believable3 Unbelievable10

No 1. I'm sorry but we can do better than remy for a striker & cesar is ok no better than what we have, just look at there goal difference!

Agree13 Disagree3

Taabart on his day

Agree2 Disagree11

Big wages for remy and cesar we are trying to get rid of players like that need to get better quality players than that if we want to challenge next season MgM

Agree4 Disagree0

Julio Cesar is better than Shezz and at an age where in 2-3 years Shezz can naturally take over - so him, as long as the price is right -
as for everyone else - there's a lot of overpriced load of old rope there.
Remy's a decent player but he's not going to improve us. Taraabt has real class but unfortunately he only shows up every 5 games. Maybe Bosingwa as cover for Jenkinson?

No one from QPR but Micah Richards from Citeh.

Stoner

Agree9 Disagree3

What's the point - they're not going to improve the team.

Agree3 Disagree0

Remy is a very good striker, he'd start ahead of Giroud all day. surely that's got to be improvement?

1404

Agree3 Disagree12

Remy has been out of control at times this season (since joining QPR). this was clearly evidenced this weekend when he proceded to commit 5 fouls in a span of 5 to 8 minutes (one resulting in a yellow)

He's a good finisher, but he lacks discipline this was one of the reasons we passed on him in the January transfer window

Chicago Gooner

Agree2 Disagree0

I was at the QPR wigan game on the weekend. cheap tickets for a tenner mainly.

Julio cesar is tremendous. his awareness is amazing. sadly I see him going somewhere bigger.

Remy - spurs can buy him. they can add to that all pace no face lineup.

Lennon, Remy, defoe, holtby and the revered adebayor.

Hi guys its been a looooooooooong time -
Nice to see we're picking up form at a vital point in the season. It finally looks as we are getting into a new positive era no more egos etc, new young faces as well as experienced players playing along each other creating an almost dynamic equilibrium and hopefully big names in the summer so onwards and upwards;-) hope all of you guys are ok malaga, flybo, metal, US gooner, ike, eman etc -looks as if there's a lot of new poster so hi :-) hope the eds are all well. Also what do you guys make of the Szczesny debacle? And should he start nect week imo there's no reason for him to do so as Fabianski hasn't proven himself to be a liability of recent don't fix what's not broken? I think szczesny did need it but he most definitely was a bit of a scapegoat but it happens and it was needed and overall it was beneficial- that's just my stance on it at least.

when your on a run like this you want the games to come thick and fast!

Dont get me wrong I think there will be twists and turns, we just need to concentrate on ourselves! Norwich next must win before 3 difficult games in the form of everton (playing well atm and haven't given up on champo league) fulham (a) Remeber bobby zamora? there a good side at homa and of course man utd? robin whooo?

Followed by wigan and qpr at some point who if still not relegated will be scrapping hard, so full concentration will be needed, and finishing at st james's could be a tough fixture! you don't wanna be going there needing a win, suppose we could cruise the first half 4-0 and taunt them with where's your carrol gone. Not like we'd throw away that biga margin. OOOPs!

so I think we shouldn't get carried away but norwich at home is a must win have to apply as much pressure!

Yorkshire Gooner Joe:D

Where do you guys think the tough potential banana skins will be?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Once game at a time as you say, but I much rather our run in than Spurs or Chelseas' run espacially when you add in the extra euro games on top they have aswell.

Apart from Utd we should be looking at max points from all our remaining games and Arsenal should be more than capable of that regardless of the few injuries we have. Everton is tough but its home not away. QPR will be down by the time we face them and have no fight possibly wigan aswell.

It will be close no doubt but I bet the bookies are favouring us over Spurs right now for top 4 and that is always a good indicator.

Agree2 Disagree2

I have a really bad feeling we will loss against wigan.

Agree4 Disagree7

The banana skins for me QPR (Harry would just love to stick it across us, 4 the people fans not 4 Levy)and last game against Newcastle (AW and Pardew have history and to be fair I think Newcastle are a better team then what their current position would imply. I am confident we will beat the Manx and every one else.

As great as the EPL has been, especially at marketing itself as the best league in the world, and the general consensus that La liga is nothing but the scottish premier league. the talent on display in la liga is just astounding.

Madrid and Barcelona may have 22 first team players if at all, but the players who have come to the EPL and absolutely taken it by the storm are La Liga players.

Aguero, Silva, Mata, Cazorla, Monreal, they are exceptional players and i'm glad we have two of them.

I was having a conversation with a friend regarding Cesc hatrick the other day and he stated, Cesc played an absolute rubbish team, hence the scoreline.

My theory is that Barcelona are soo good that if they played wigan the scoreline would have been the same. Also the finishing from Cesc was Messi-esque dare I say.

and in terms of goal scorers, besides messi on 43 (testament to his skills) and ronaldo on 29, falcao has scored the same number of goals as Suarez, and we would take falcao in a heartbeat, so I think the underestimation of that league is unfair, especially that its not as gret defensively.

Look at the talent like Isco, benat, Falcao, who are linked to EPL team to realise that some of the players there are just world class.

and take the EPL teams. besides the top 4 teams, is there such talent that other leagues would consider plundering the EPL to take that talent?

Fairplay, this site has just turned into a place to have an argument, and all over Giroud. c'mon guys this is ridiclous, can't we all agree to disagree? I know that cheetah bloke made himself look a little bit stupid, but let's learn to forgive and forget, I'm as annoyed as the rest of you, but in all fairness he has attempted to apologise. We all support one club, and a bloody great one at that, so let's not let silly arguments get in the way of this fantastic site, which I would on behalf of all the posters like to thank the eds for taking time out of their lives and contributing to.

When Gibbs is back fully fit, who will start at left back? I've been really impressed with gibbsy up until the injury, and pleasently surprised with the performances of Nacho. Although, saying this, Nacho has been appearing to commit errors during matches as of late, ie not picking up his man. I personally would go with Nacho as I feel he is an all round better defender.

Also, apologies to every poster on here for my rather bullish and harsh approach towards you. Sorry, I was the brainless one with that sentence.

CheetahChaz97

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Gibbs his link up play with podolski is brilliant but think they will be rotated MgM

Agree1 Disagree0

Nacho - he can defend.

Agree4 Disagree0

Gibbs and nacho will be rotated. you need 3 players for every position, when you play, EPL, Champions league, Fa Cup, League Cup.

but if Nacho and Gibbs can provide cover and competition I would be happy with that.

Now we need to find a suitable cover for the eventual departure of Sagna.

I can see this being his audition to a new team, so his price rises, he is showing he is fit. he is now 30 and 8 mill and arsenal shake on the deal and find a 5 mill replacement who cand run for 5-6 years.

If anyone has noticed how as a team we've just become more efficient and a bit more organised attacking and defending.

We aren't playing at our vintage best but we are converting the few chances that we get as compared to early on in the season when we were creating and just not hitting the back of the net.

The defence has just kinda eliminated those silly errors, Idk if its down to a change of tactics, rotation or just the fact that wenger said there are no guaranteed spots for anyone next season.

Anyway whatever it is I like.

I think theo14 and jack10 shouldn't just walk back in the team because sometimes I think that's were wenger gets it wrong, there's no point in fixing it if it ain't broke. Even our Bfg shouldn't just walk back in the team if kos the boss and the verminator can keep a clean sheet.

Looking forward to looking down at the spurs from the number 2 spot. Sweeeeettttttt.

Looking at the remaining fixtures we must get a decent amount of points in the next 3 games so as to be at least 3 points ahead going into the last game, As the sp*ds have got sunderland at home we would not have to get a point at newcastle due to us having a much better goal difference.

Why all the Giroud bashing? You could not expect anyone to come in and replace RVP straight away. And from the looks of his first season with us he could end up being a better player.

His stats for this season are better than the first 2 season RVP had with us.

RVP only had better stats in 5 of his 9 seasons in comparison to Girouds season so far.

Goals or assist per game for Giroud 0. 86 - 12/13

Yes a striker's job is to score goals but I am putting assist in too because they still win games.

RVP 0. 47 - 04/05
0. 57 - 05/06
0. 88 - 06/07
0. 76 - 07/08
0. 91 - 08/09
1. 05 - 09/10
1. 11 - 10/11
1. 06 - 11/12

As you can see only the last 3 seasons were substantialy better.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

As much as I hate to say it RVP had the ability to work magic from nowhere and change a game single handed, unfortunately Giroud does not have that in his game.

Giroud is OK, and has done well in his first season but he is not good enough to be our first choice striker.

Hi ed, just wondering what is going on at the arsenal academy. Considering the money and time invested, we seem to produce so few players that are able to go on to have a career at arsenal. We read and hear of this prodigious talents and eagerly follow there development. Players like lupoli, merida, quincy, connelly, ryan smith all heralded as the next big thing, all have left arsenal to have less than glittering careers. My theory is they are are given way too much too soon. They believe there own hype, swagger around like cristiano ronaldo before they have achieved anything. The modern day footballer is treated like a prodigious pianist, wrapped in cotton wool and knows nothing of hardship and struggle. I would like to see this boys given less of the trappings of success and an apprentiship that forces them to learn humility and not turn into the odious individual that is the modern day footballer. Too much too soon only serves to curtail development and invariably ends in a promising career being unfufilled and wasteful. Get these boys doing community work and understanding how lucky they are. We pay them a fortune before they have achieved anything. This only creates spoilt pampered big time charlies whose only claim to fame is they have an arsenal tracksuit. To many have gone off the radar and i'm convinced that's because we spoil rather than nurture and develop them as human beings.
Vinny barbarino {Ed027's Note - You put forward a great point, i think they get way too much, they want first team straight away, then they move on and mess up, the odd few make it to the top, but some of the names are foreign so it is difficult to move from home at such a young age, the like of Merida, Ozyakup, Quincy just wanted to leave and play footy elsewhere, same with Pennant remember he sored a hat-rick for us in the invincibles season. A lot of them have attitude problems, and money takes over. Back to Arsenal's academy i think we have done better than most clubs in bringing through and developing young players.
