Surely, surely. SURELY with a group as the one we are in we will need to strengthen the squad to have ANY chance of getting through to the knock out stages. We face Marseille, who finished second in the French league last season, Champions League and German Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund and Italian second-placed side Napoli.

I'm watching the Fenerbahce game and it's 2-0 to us at the moment. I am worried that if the score stays like this or gets better Wenger may use that old chestnut that our squad is better than out critics believe. The rot has not eradicated by this result (if it stays this way). We should not stop pushing and insisting on reinforcements regardless of the result.

There appears to be an inherent and chronic inability to negotiate the signing of 'top, top players' by those managing Arsenal Football Club. I fear that with the departure of Dean all those years ago resulted with Arsenal nolonger having someone who got the job done in the transfer market. For Wenger to assert that it's not tha easy identifying top quality players then perhaps he needs to take a few leaves out of the books of City, Chelsea, and dare I say it, Tottenham. The excuses are getting mightily thin now and we find ourselves in the same precarious situation of a few years ago. It was obvious at 2:59pm on Saturday that Arsenal would find it difficult against Aston Villa. You simply cannot go into the start of the season without your squad settled. That mistake has been made before which culminated with the embarrassing 8 - 2 defeat at Old Trafford. I fear we have made it again.

Unfortunately Wenger and Gazidis MUST take their fair share of the blame. This is not a problem which began over the last 2 months. This has been an endemic problem which has manifested itself over, at least, the last 5-6 transfer windows. It is commonly known to the sports press that Wenger is a ditherer and that is why many of the targets we were after (some of whom even sang our praises in anticipation of a move they must have thought was almost there) have subsequently gone elsewhere. So when the rumour states that Wenger's approval is needed before the deal is done, there is natural apprehension. Not because Wenger won't make a decision, but because he may take too long coming to that decision. To complain about that when the season has already started and the team has not improved at all is totally understandable and something that Wenger and Gazidis must have anticipated whilst they work '24/7' on getting their transfer targets.

Colin, I hear what you're saying but these frustrations are 8 years long and have been heightened as a result of the inactivity of the last two months. I was looking back at some of the quotes from Ivan Gazidis and his Q&A of 05.06.2013 where he famously made the 'escalation in financial firepower' comments. Reading into Gazidis' comments and the outcome of the transfer window so far, its no wonder some of us will think that it was all a ploy to get us to renew our memberships and season tickets and for the coffers to be stuffed to close to bursting point. I really feel that we've been duped and in those circumstances (and taking into consideration the last 8 years) it's sometimes difficult to chill out.

Lyrics to the song:

You had plenty of money in 1922.
You let other women make a fool of you.
Why don't you do right,
like some other men do?

Get out of here,
get me some money too.
You're sittin down and wonderin what it's all about.
If you ain't got no money, they will put you out.
why don't you do right,
like some other men do?

Get out of here,
get me some money too.

Now if you had prepared 20 years ago.
You wouldn't be a wanderin now from door to door.
Why don't you do right,
like some other men do?

Get out of here,
get me some money too.

Get out of here,
get me some money too.

Why don't you do right, like some other men do?

Wengerism despite the many differing views we all want the same out of AFC so your views are understandable from that point.

Players are not being signed when they DO know who the manager is! Respectfully, I do not think that is the point. The point is whether the player feels that the club in question is being decisive enough in its pursuit of him and look to get the deal done in a swift manner! Sadly, it looks like AFC lack this quality at the moment.
