337 I do believe there were offers made to try and bring in a CB. Correct me if I'm wrong eds and who ever else. but the one of the names we almost landed was Manolas, who decided to jump ship and sign for Roma.
In all honesty. probably none. However, in the next couple of years I would love to see Henry come back to the club as assistant couch or somewhere among that level. Can honestly see him becoming our manager at some stage when Wenger retires.
{Ed025's Note - an assistant couch?...would that make him an armchair.. only joking mate...i love the guy, and i know he loves the club...so why not..
Absolutely Bacon. I for one definitely feel sorry for the poor Southampton fans, especially seeing as little of their money has been used for purposeful signings. I'd like TV5 to stay with us to be honest. He didn't prove once last season that he deserved a starting 11 spot, and the fact that he's captain of the club says a lot. Also the fact that Barca and ManUtd are looking at him shows that he has far more to give then what has been the case over the last 2 seasons.
^^100% agree. not to mention the sitting down, arms on hips complaining at the ref after a challenge on him. he was touted the next big thing - future captain of the club. can't see it happening unless he gets his thumb out of his you-no-whatsit, and starts growing up. he has so much potential and i'd hate to see it go to waste

It's been a long time since I've posted on here (formally under corbsgooner. I think), but nevertheless I love this site and yes. check it every day. Firstly, I have a bit of banter to add. If Van Gaal wants Vermaelen, then surely he not only see's something in him but can work with him. Personally, I for one do not want him to move on and play under Van Gaal, but would much rather he stay with us and have the opportunity to really fight for the first team role. Prove to Wenger what it is to be captain. I remember not long ago when he was touted with a move to Barcelona. I also remember not long ago at the beginning of one particular season where he was for a period of time our leading goal scorer! Would love to know everyone else's opinion. If he moves on then I feel Schar would be a great replacement.
