Eds, can you clear it up for everyone. Barcelona's ban to be lifted and for them to bid £/€30m for him?

I can't see him leaving.

Believable0 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona's ban has been delayed. I cannot say about interest in Oezil but they will be looking to refresh their team as this opportunity has arisen.

24 Apr 2014 11:01:43
Now that the ban has been lifted for Barcelona, I assume they will go in for a few more strikers.

But can anyone shed some light on a few topics, if the Eds have some info would greatly appreciate it.

1) Is Cesc Fabregas one of the players Barcelona would be willing to sell? or does it depend on the player?

2) any truth to what talkcrap reports of the interest in Ozil from Barcelona?

3) are we interested in any player from barcelona?

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - (1) I would think that they would now be open to the sale of Fabregas. (2) I cannot say but they will be looking to refresh their team as this opportunity has arisen. (3) Not at this time.}

Cheers ED

Here we go.

Talk shorts has stated that with Barcelona's ban lifted they are after Ozil for a measly £30 million. Ozil is class, but I also believe he thinks he's made a mistake playing in England. Is body language is a disgrace, players around him are always telling him off, even Per ragged him around last year for being a tool on the pitch and not respecting the fans at the end of the match. Do you think it has any legs on it and we could see the end of Ozil? I like him but i'm on the fence whether it would bother me if he left or not.

Believable4 Unbelievable29

Cesc + 7 mill = Ozil and they can have him.

although with the type of players they have they would be better off, compared to us having cesc and then still needing to buy forwards to utilise another creative minds vision.

Cesc can score goals so that's a bonus.

The worst thing we could do is sell ozil even for the 42.5 million and then not buy the world class striker we need to take us forward.

also selling a player like Ozil will mean players like Cazorla may want out in the near future.

Its a conundrum. I would hope we keep ozil, I would hope barcelona keep cesc, so that way we can concetrate on a striker and they can go ahead and not buy a defender and buy another striker.

I certainly hope he stays. Yes his attitude hasn't been right in some games, but there have been other games where I have felt sorry for him because he just hasn't had any runners to pick out. His last game before his injury was Everton in the FA cup and he was absolutely fantastic. I think if we can keep Theo fit, and sign a striker who can run in behind, then we will see the best of Ozil.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we had a striker that would run in behind instead of infront of the defenders it would complement ozils game so much better that's why we need a new striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Özil has to stay, he just needs players around him willing to make the runs he's always searching for, get a striker with some pace and you'll see the real Özil.

Agree0 Disagree0

People really need to stop berating players still in their first season. Oezil has clearly got some fitness work to do, but he needs a pre-season and time to adapt. People seem to be assuming that playing in a team that had to play 45 mins and then relax in Spain is the same as playing in a team that needs to play flat out for 90 mins.
Keep him, attract the top players to play around him and start to challenge. Oezil's form dropped after Ramsey got injured, they understand each other, he will gel with others given time
I wouldn't pay any attention to Talk rubbish, they have as far as I'm aware, NEVER been remotely close to what goes on at Arsenal, just a group of Manchester United and Chelsea fans with too much time on their hands.Wenger wouldn't break the transfer record to allow him to leave before getting a chance to build around and work with him (Unless he was 30 years old). rant over.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said kermit

Ozil is incredibly reliant on hard running players and we don't have any when Ramsey/Theo are out, or when he and Ox aren't on the pitch at the same time.

He was fantastic at Madrid surrounded by Benz, Ronaldo, Di Maria, etc. who all run in behind constantly. Giroud is not that player, Santi isn't, Rosicky isn't, etc. Of course he's going to suffer.

I believe 100% that if Ramsey and Theo stayed fit, we would still be at the top of the table. Slate that if you want, but my point is that Ozil needs movement and we offered none for about 3 months straight

Is this talk of Tom Cleverley purely speculation?

Believable2 Unbelievable18

{Ed025's Note - in a word..YES..

24 Apr 2014 08:52:18
Ed025. Do you know what the latest is with Walcott and Wilshire.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - theo is long term goldie, and will miss the start of next season, jack is back in training and may make the WC squad mate..

Hi Eds.
Have you any news regarding the sagna contract situation?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the club are still trying to persuade him to sign one, the issue is still the length of it though. He wants longer than the club will offer. It is starting to look like neither will budge.}

He will be at PSG next season!

Just noticed Barcelonas ban on buying new players has been lifted pending an appeal by them.
Which means they CAN now buy players until the hearing starts. Funny that, I thought that might happen!
"Money talks bull s ** walks " Do you know what I mean?

Believable9 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - did you ever believe it would not goldie?...FFP is a joke, the major spenders will still bully the system, and the proper clubs remain the poor relations im afraid mate..

Exactly Ed025. I don't know why they even bother wasting their breath with the talk of banning teams like Barcelona. It was an embarrassing statement from the off. Maybe they will be banned from buying and selling between the transfer windows! .

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - maybe if you get cesc back they will be forgiven golds.. :)

Do you think that Cesc would want to come back, Would he make a difference What do you reckon?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think he would mate, on both counts..

Reading some papers this morning there are suggestions that Uncle Arsene maybe signing a new contract. Also he has around £70 million to spend on new players. Did we just spend £30 million somewhere? Where's the £100 million gone to all of a sudden. If this is true it there may be another Ground Hog Day on the horizon. I already think I know what the outcome is going to be and I feel a headache coming on already.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - he was always going to stay goldie, the spending money i believe is not determined, if he requires players there are funds there to be utilised as he sees fit..

Hope you're right mate. I couldn't stand another episode like the last two windows we have been through.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed if there are funds available as he see's fit, surely a 200 mill bid for messi should be a priority. or is that too rich for Arsenal?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very much so lakerville, and 99% of other clubs, but i do expect some high profile signings mate, but we will have to wait and see i suppose..

As much as I would like to believe the rumors of my favorite current midfielder, Paul Pogba, likely to join Arsenal, I can't.

Ed, do you see Pogba leaving this summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - PSG are looking to add a 'big name' French signing, one of those on their list of potential targets is Pogba. There is a good chance he will join them in the summer.}

Pogba to PSG, Rabiot to Arsenal?

Not sure if I read it on here or somewhere else, but was wondering if theirs any truth to it as a friend of mine recently bought this up.
Did arsenal or more particularly silent stan, bring in a statistician/accountant last summer. Or whatever they are called, the people for baseball I believe who base values of players on a range of stats.?
Remember something along these lines, where the maximum value for each target was calculated and hence non of the offers made were increased e.g. Bender.
Can anyone clarify or develope this concept?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

24 Apr 2014 14:02:13
well not sure about that, but we did invest in an opta style stats business, and I would be unsurprised if we hadn't used them to not only value and work out efficiency of our own players, but also of potential targets
