Ah the modern game of football, where money means everything. i'm not going to speak of RVP or nasri or cesc. rather beaten to death with those topics, rather say what is happening NOW.

Falcao - Joins Monaco, practically a QPR of the french league, with a better history, however nothing is guaranteed but the money is. I don't really rate james rodriguez and moutinho any better than what we have in say poldi and cazorla. younger perhaps. but 60 mill?

Lewandowski - this is a player I purely hate. he is what is wrong with the world today. He wants only Bayern, not chelsea, city, united or real, only bayern. Claims it is to win, and not for money, however his package seems to state otherwise, and will most likely force his way to bayern, with dortmund holding firm to let him walk for free, I would find it hard to believe they can refuse 25 mill, merely for principle. if so. (Arsene, this is what football is about. the club not money)

Cavani - 53 mill buyout - player trying to push trade, owner trying to be greedy, what more is there to say

Suarez - considering the madness liverpool have gone through to keep him, he is clearly capable of biting them exactly where it hurts.

Bale - Said nothing, done nothing - been professional so far, throw 80 mill and things might get interesting, however I like the fact he is not pushing himself out the door.

Neymar - apparently took less money to join barcelona, however if you want to be a sidekick to messi, you can't really claim to be the best player in the world. can you MR PELE.

Ronaldo - i'm sad, i'm sad, nothing is agreed i'm sad ( one word money -its never enough)

Very good post. It is indeed all about the money, but I don't think that is the fault of the players - and if someone flipped a switch and footballers were all of a sudden earning only 5k a week, I think they would still all be desperate to be footballers. Monaco is funny though. They don't even have champions league football next year, so the players that do join them, are definitely 100% all about the money.

Why are you pointing out the fact that money is what makes the footballing world go round nowadays? That isn't some revolutionary statement, it's just a fact and I guess we have to live with it.

There's so much money involved in football, honestly it's probably the richest industry you can get involved in, and you're denouncing these players as purely 'money grabbing' - can you honestly say that if you were the Colombian Falcao, having been at Atletico for just a couple of years so no genuine affinity, that you wouldn't turn down doubled wages at Monaco, perhaps an up-and-coming club in one of the most glamorous areas of the world?

Your castigation of Lewandowski is strange considering Bayern are not one of the oil-rich clubs, they're one of the few superclubs which have got there not through a sugar daddy. Obviously it stinks a bit to move to a direct rival, but it's Bayern Munich. The treble-winning 'FC Hollywood' of world football that everyone admires. But sure, he's purely going for money.

Footballers move for three reasons, for me. To play in the first place, which would possibly mean downsizing but to get regular football. Established stars will move for ambition - to be part of a project, i. e. some of the players we sign will be because we've sold them a project and not past glory. Then finally players move for money for the simple fact that they have short careers, and so grabbing what you can may seem the sensible option.

I don't like it any more than the next man, but money is just the next revolution in football and I think rather than moaning about how the superstars of world football have had their heads turned, we should get on with supporting the fact that we've got our current riches the right way, and will hopefully progress on to better things in a manner becoming of Arsenal's class.

You guys crack me up.

Definately all about money? Who cares? Would you move to the south of France for a 200% pay rise? To ply your trade with some of the best players and live a wonderful life? Only a fool or hopeless romantic would not consider it.
Lewandowski - critised for wanting Bayern yet turning down City/Chelsea and the liek offerinbg fortunes? yet you hate him?
Neymar - critised for taking a pay cut to play for the team he wants to play for? you have some crazy logic Lakerville!

Chris you're being pretty petty to pick on that one aspect which questioned ability and price.

Appreciate you have been stalking Lakerville for a while but try and take in all the post and reply with something that doesn't just make you look like a proper tw4t.

@ Rob G - I understand money is what motivates everyone and everything, in today's society, however I would like to point to those who don't think of it as a be all and end all for their survival.

Messi - at barcelona earning million, and if he was put up for sale, he would earn triple of what he earns now. Do you see him say he is not happy? he constantly reiterates his desire to only play for them and head back home.

xavi, iniesta, Giggs, Scholes, Schweinsteiger, Lampard, Gerrard, Ramos, Puyol, Maldini, Del piero, off the top of my head.

Do you think no other team wanted these players?

on Lewandowski, he has never stayed at a club beyond two years, everywhere he has gone, he has created turmoil on departure, read about his previous exits. And he is forcing Dortmund to say its bayern or I walk free.

Also for him to turn down Man utd? something has to give surely.

Neymar - I did not slight him, it was more about the hype, of being a GOD, while playing as a sidekick.

and yes I have crazy logic, because not all of us are born to be football managers.

@Bayern M. choosing to keep Lewandowski for one more season: you cannot get the best from a player whose mind is elsewhere!
