Anyone else see the prize money paid out by the Premier League this season.

At £139 million for finishing 5th we only got £11 million less than Chelsea did for winning it.

Sunderland got £93 million for finishing bottom.

That is some serious cash.

Stoner

1.) 01 Jun 2017 22:16:13
Let's home we can plough the majority of that cash into our transfer targets.

2.) 02 Jun 2017 12:12:41
Good news for the players but not so good for the fans, that money needs to come from somewhere and there is ultimately only one place to get it, the public.
Yes there is advertising money but the advertisement is only aimed at the fans too so ultimately it's 100% the watching public who pay.
Increased transfer fees increased wages increased prices have to follow.

Holy shizzle, Usmanov has made a 1.3 billion bid to Kroenke to buy his shares.

Only read a couple of days ago that Usmanovs personal wealth went up by over £4 billion this year.

Apparently Kroenke hadn't said a definite no.

Sell, sell, sell!

Stoner

1.) 19 May 2017 18:06:10
Please please sell! We need a change from the top down. I believe Usmanov will do this. And he won't see this club as purely a business. It'll also be a hobby and something he won't want to lose with. Fingers crossed.

2.) 19 May 2017 18:15:52
I was slated when I said usmanov will take over one day. he's the savious imo and itl happen eventually. No top4 would be great bargaining tool.

I knew my avatar would not be wasted :) red dog if your reading this have faith usmanov is here.

3.) 19 May 2017 18:24:10
I'll hold my hands up and say I was against it. Slated anyone who said it. But now we need it. I was against all the money that came with it. But now that money is in football from sponsors anyway.

4.) 19 May 2017 18:50:50
He's a big Wenger fan though.

5.) 19 May 2017 19:12:46
Lol he's not stupid wouldn't slate wenger before he's in. Bad PR all the noises etc are at perfect times he's a clever bloke. If he comes wenger may get a year who knows but he won't accept failure. Finishing 5th won't be a bad thing this year. D16 let's hug.

6.) 19 May 2017 19:23:27
I'd love him to come in, but in reality I don't think it's going to happen. Stan is too stubborn as he's proved recently. Money talks though, so fingers crossed this is an opening bid.

7.) 19 May 2017 19:31:05
Apparently the bid was placed a couple of weeks ago and has been refused. Maybe some others could show interest now.

8.) 19 May 2017 19:44:56
The timing of it all is genius.

9.) 19 May 2017 20:12:18
Come on usmanov! Really good news to see him trying to buy Kroenke!

10.) 19 May 2017 20:59:12
Derby you old sage you. Some of us are like visionaries. Lol.

09 Jun 2016 11:55:40
I was having a read through some of the other pages and found that the Man City page now has people posting, not all City fans I might add.

Anyway back on April 1st someone asked about Gundogan going to City which ended in them asking if they had any interest in Xhaka.

Ed02 gave a lengthy reply of interested clubs, which included City, Napoli and us but his last sentence of that reply said, but Arsenal will be looking for an early agreement.

Somewhat of a shame he will no longer post on here.

Stoner

1.) 09 Jun 2016 12:06:40
Agree stoner mate. It was a big factor for me visiting this site as well as your banter ladies ;)

2.) 09 Jun 2016 12:40:14
It was a bit of a mine of information over on their rumours page Je, with ed02 answering numerous questions mate.

He also spoke about us having interest in two left backs, a guy called Guerreiro at Lorient and Rico Henry at Walsall.

Hopefully he's not totally done with us and will return again at some stage.

3.) 09 Jun 2016 14:40:05
maybe after two tranfer windows eh. maybe he's giving us the treatment madrid and athletico are due to endure.

4.) 09 Jun 2016 14:27:54
I hold my hands up and say I sent a post in regarding the attitude of certain Eds, at the time I never gave a thought of half the bull they were deleting and only a fraction was actually getting passed in to the page. I sincerely apologise for that. And I really do hope Ed02 returns to the page as the knowledge is second to none, although I do greatly appreciate Ed01 and Ed25s input.

5.) 09 Jun 2016 15:03:13
Stoner.

It's really strange the we have so much interest in the LB position, is Nacho going home? Is Gibbs off?

I hope ed02 comes back for the greater good of mankind.

6.) 09 Jun 2016 15:32:15
Je they're mostly very young lb's. Monreal is 30 I think. It makes sense to sign someone now.

7.) 09 Jun 2016 16:01:58
yes i also remember him being adament that chelsea wouldn't block cech coming to us, because abramovic respected his service and desire to remain in london. even though mourinho publicly stated he didn't want him to and when to myself and i'm sure a few others it seemed an odd transfer to allow when he could of been sold abroad.

8.) 09 Jun 2016 16:38:54
Our LB's are second rate, hence the need to sign a decent one and Rodriguez fits the bill.

9.) 09 Jun 2016 20:26:54
CS I agree mate, age completely slipped my mind and on that note yeah I get why we're on the lookout now, Guerrero- there's been a lot of rumours about this fella lately, talked very highly of but I haven't seen much of him to be honest.
Rodriguez- in my view we've got Gibbs who can do what he does, we need someone who can defend properly n not one who thinks of constantly getting assists.
If we where to go out n get a LB then Gaya from Valencia would be my pick :)

Who would you guys want?

10.) 10 Jun 2016 14:58:13
JG, Wendell from Leverkusen or Alex Telles from Galatasaray/ Inter. Both young Brazilian left backs with a lot of hype surrounding them. In an ideal world it would be a defender who can speak portugese and english, who can help Gabriel to play in the team (if the language barrier is still, for some reason, an issue) even if they don't play right next to each other.

11.) 10 Jun 2016 19:29:59
Interesting NEG, Brazilian? After our last Brazilian LB? Your brave :) just kidding mate.
Both super fast too if I remember rightly

I like kurzawa from PSG too n also Jetro willams from PSV

I wouldn't be to bothered if we didn't succeed in upgrading the LB position this summer, it can wait, we have far more important positions to upgrade.

Evening Ed01 mate,

Wanted to ask you and the gooners on this page a question.

I've seen a few United fans suggest that Wenger would be a good replacement for Mourinho.

I know United fans in the main feel they have a far better squad than us.

So question is, do you think Wenger could do a job there, supposed better players with a bigger budget or do you think he is definitely finished as a top manager?

Stoner

{Ed001's Note - short term he could stabilise things, but long term his lax coaching would just lead to them falling backwards the way Arsenal were imo. He would appease the players and sort out the divisions in the squad, bringing it all together initially, but he is too soft on the players and people like Pogba just take the piss.}

1.) 03 Oct 2018 16:48:30
Do you think united regret re signing Pogba Ed?

{Ed001's Note - very much so, he spent the summer trying to force a move away.}

2.) 03 Oct 2018 17:50:22
It looks as if it’s going a similar way with Sanchez! That’s two huge wage bills looking to make the veron signing look great 🤭.

3.) 03 Oct 2018 17:56:15
Thanks mate, it would definitely be a weird one if he went there, I’m pretty sure he won’t though.

Will be watching the game tonight, I’m going 3-1 to you but know you won’t make a prediction! Haha.

{Ed001's Note - I will just hope you are right!!}

4.) 03 Oct 2018 18:13:54
I would love Maureen to stop for the next five years and if he was sacked, i would love Wenger to be their manager. I think Wenger is perfect for utd, like i think Maureen is.

5.) 03 Oct 2018 18:32:02
Mourinho we want you to stay, we want you to stay 😂.

6.) 03 Oct 2018 18:35:49
I’m with you Steve, I want all their current players, bar De Gea, to stay too! 😂.

7.) 03 Oct 2018 18:58:39
It would be tough for Jose to take being sacked and replaced by Arsene :-)
If we think he's the angry one now just think what being dumped for Arsene would do for his ego.

8.) 03 Oct 2018 21:56:14
Wenger is way past his sell by date. Mourinho is clearly on borrowed time, Zidane would be a fine replacement.

9.) 03 Oct 2018 22:25:39
I'm no man utd fan by a very very long way but if somebody had to turn them around, if it was inevitable and unstoppable, there is absolutely nobody I'd rather do it than Arsene Wenger.
It won't be Arsene who replaces Jose but if it was I'd find it very difficult not to wish him the absolute best in this season's champions league in which Arsenal aren't involved.

05 Aug 2018 17:13:33
Just watched the Community Shield, should think 3 points guaranteed next week, City looking very poor! 😂😂

Interesting to see Hudson-Odoi get zero from Walker whilst he gave Bellerin the run around.

Also great to see the ref John Moss has spent the summer getting into shape.

Shame it's the same unfit round one he was in last year! 😱😉.

Stoner

1.) 05 Aug 2018 18:42:13
Probably took his surname literally and spent most his days lying around rocks.

2.) 05 Aug 2018 19:47:48
Poor old Hector, he's in for a long hard season or even Arsenal career no matter how hard he trys or however much effort he puts in for the team.

3.) 05 Aug 2018 21:04:27
I find Bellerin very weak for a defender, i like my defenders to assert themselves and want to defend like its a crime for someone to get past you. I also think he freezes when he defends because he is never as quick at running defending as he is going forward. He is very fast on the training ground apparently but he gets left for dead too many times when players run at him.

4.) 05 Aug 2018 21:38:41
I hear all that Steve yet still he continues to be linked with City and Barcelona persistently, the lad obviously has his weaknesses but he's so often our furthest defender forward when we lose the ball yet somehow managers to very often be our last defender when the opposition attack ends, what happens to all the defenders and midfielders in between where Hector starts off from and finishes up at?
Personally I think he's an Ox type player who will only be seen at his best post Arsenal, I'm not quite sure where or why Belerin lost the Arsenal fans because the effort is always there even when it's no where near as apparent in other players.

5.) 05 Aug 2018 23:27:59
Personally, i think he is a right footed kieran gibbs gunner. He won't ever play for a top top team, after an early fanfare and false dawn.

6.) 06 Aug 2018 00:44:47
I fully agree with Steve r. Bellerin was a converted winger and Gibbs was converted from a midfield player and neither player can tackle, nor do they possess any defensive awareness, Lichtsteiner is a proper RB, the problem is age is against him.
We still need to sign a RB, a LB and a CB.
Perhaps if we sign Nzonzi, we can paper over the cracks with Torreira and Nzonzi providing a defensive shield for the CB's.
Rodriguez would be a decent signing for the LB position. Whilst Vida impressed during the World Cup Finals.

7.) 06 Aug 2018 11:24:55
Thats the modern day fullback for ya stevie, a winger in disguise.

8.) 06 Aug 2018 23:22:44
Valencia, is a converted winger but he can tackle and does his job with authority. No comparison to bellarin, same goes for walker.

31 Jul 2018 20:39:11
Great to see the whole squad, with the exception of Koscielny, are back in training as of yesterday.

How many years since that happened, that includes Joel Campbell and Lucas Perez as well as Torreira and Lichtsteiner.

Two more friendlies, Chelsea Wednesday and Lazio Saturday, the latter is being streamed live on Arsenal.com kick off at I think 7pm over here if anyone wants to watch it.

So looking forward to the new era.

Stoner

1.) 31 Jul 2018 23:03:23
Cheers I watch it.

30 Jul 2018 22:55:24
Scholes 18,

This is what I said about De Gea, not the waffle you made up fella.

"I'm sure you have enough talent there to do better but do you personally think, without bias, that any of your squad would make the City first team under Pep and I'll include De Gea in that because whilst he's an incredible shot stopper can he fill the whole role required by Pep. "

The answer is still the same and I'm just reposting as your original post is way down the page. 😉.

Stoner

1.) 30 Jul 2018 23:48:57
No problem stoner, wasn't there at least one/ or two more of you on the thread?

2.) 30 Jul 2018 23:55:18
De Gea is the impotat individual to a united side since Martin Buchan.
When Buchan wasn't available to cover the rest of the United team they were in all kinds of trouble and the same with De Gea today, no De Gea last season for United no champions league this season for United, that's how much he made up for the rest of the team.
He's more important to United than Ronaldo ever was simply because the rest of the team he plays with are so poor.
For city I'm not sure but for United he's invaluable right now because without hom they are purely europa league hopefuls.

3.) 31 Jul 2018 08:42:46
I see what you're saying Gunner but that's selective. Without Salah's goals last season would Lpool have finished in the top 4? Spurs without Kane? Does that mean the rest of their teams are so poor, because they're relying on one player? It just happens to be that our best player is our goalkeeper, doesn't necessarily mean the rest of our team 'are so poor'.

4.) 31 Jul 2018 09:21:19
How long you been watching United 18 mate? Where would you rate the current United team mate?
Totally agree that if you take away each teams best player they would obviously be weaker but Liverpool lost Continho and when from strength to strength United lost Ronaldo and did pretty well without him.
Lvg and Jose have made you the least attractive United I can remember even before Fergie when you couldn't win a title for decades you still played football that got the fans excited mate.
De Gea is a survivor of the Fergie generation and after 3 managers and 100s of millions he's the only thing keeping you relevant in today's game.
I remember United getting relegated and that team was still better to watch than Lvg or Jose United have been.
Having a brilliant goalkeeper is always a huge asset for any team but when it's the only thing good about a club like United there is something very wrong at that club.
Pogba is an outstanding player apart from in a united shirt and that has to be a concern for you boys mate.

5.) 31 Jul 2018 09:32:24
To be fair a few man u players could walk into our arsenal team I would love pogba at our club great player just not suited to Jose style martial I'd have rashford and de gea for me would change our team and make them top 4 easy.

6.) 31 Jul 2018 09:45:21
Totally agree Stephen but some good individuals don't make a team, if we got Pogba I'd be singing and dancing for weeks and I wouldn't say no to Matic or Matta either but at this United they are all a shadow of themselves in other teams shirts.

29 Jul 2018 17:03:14
No here's a comment I'm pleased to see.

"A lot of coaches and a lot of teams now look at only how to play, not how to defend. But with the new coach we work also on the situations when we don't have the ball and this is very important. On the first day, the coach worked on this. With him, all the players we work on tactics, we look a lot at videos, what was wrong, what we have to do better. I think and hope this year things at the back will be much better. "

- Sokratis on Arsenal's defending.

Stoner

1.) 29 Jul 2018 17:23:26
Music to my ears mate, Dick is the right man for Arsenal although maybe not the right man for all our current players.
Some won't adjust well to his approach while others will blossom either way we will end with a team worthy of us getting behind 100% again.
No one knows whether Dick can make us champions again or not but I'm totally convinced he will send out a team that is fully committed to trying to make it happen.

2.) 29 Jul 2018 17:48:55
Some of the defending under wenger, especially in the last years were so cringe worthy and embarrassing. That department alone, will make us a better team. Most of it was basic stuff, so just sorting that out will be an improvement, the rest of the improvement will come from tactics.

3.) 29 Jul 2018 18:26:53
It's a tough life playing under Dick, his expectations of his players commitment are very high and include regular home work in the shape of videos he expects players to watch and learn from in thier spare time.
There are certainly easier ways of earning a living from football and if it's the easy money easy going approach your looking for then Arsenal football club is probably no longer the place for you.

4.) 29 Jul 2018 22:04:20
Been a while since I posted on here but Why are we calling emery dick lads I'm seeing it everywhere and I'm like a cow on astroturf confused as as a milk churn.}

5.) 29 Jul 2018 22:47:30
Dave, Dick Emery. If you aren't 40+, you probably don't know him but google him.

6.) 30 Jul 2018 06:29:08
Cheers Steve 37 not there yet I knew I missed something😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - thanks Dave, now I feel ancient because I do know who Dick Emery is! I am pretty sure they used to repeat his old show on the TV years after he died. I could be getting mixed up, he might not even be dead, but I seem to remember it being black and white and 'oooh, you are awful' being the catchphrase.}

7.) 30 Jul 2018 07:58:39
I'm looking forward to seeing Arsenal play under Emery, being coached on the defensive side of the game. I found the defensive side of the game, post 2006, incomprehensible. I don't like this 'Dick' nonsense. He was one of the worst comedians I can recall.

8.) 30 Jul 2018 12:55:25
Shall we no longer call him Dick then RG if upsets you? :-)
Chill out mate and just call him what makes you happy, and maybe let others do the same?
Give it a go mate you might just find life a little more enjoyable if you live and let live a little more.

{Ed002's Note - It is easier to spell and by Christmas you might all be calling him that anyway.}

9.) 30 Jul 2018 13:20:51
Very true Ed002 mate or we could be calling him El professor too :-)

10.) 30 Jul 2018 16:04:33
Or El Matador Dick, gunner.

11.) 30 Jul 2018 18:02:43
As long as like Ed002 warns it doesn't turn into just plain El Dick I'm happy Steve mate:-)

Not sure if you've already answered this but what's the score with Mustafi leaving, is he seen as not good enough, a fall out with someone or is he just not happy at Arsenal.

Thanks in advance mate.
