I had requested eds to ask Wenger to look into Jean Seri last week, we are linked with him in the papers today, thanks eds.

{Ed002's Note - You were told of interest in January.}

1.) 26 Jul 2017 12:10:41
This is not a paid subscription service Wesley.

2.) 26 Jul 2017 12:16:35
It's probably Ed25 who has spoken to Wenger on my behalf again.

3.) 26 Jul 2017 13:47:36
He probably had a word when he was tarmacing Arsene's drive way.

4.) 26 Jul 2017 16:12:28
Everyone knows that Wenger caramacs his drive so he can attract the hottest young boys from around Europe 😬.

17 Jul 2017 12:57:49
Im surprised Wenger hasn't tried to sign Ousmanne Dembele the Dortmund Player. If we are willing to put so much money on Mbappe and it seems impossible, why not try and get Ousmanne Dembele instead.

1.) 17 Jul 2017 13:43:55

2.) 17 Jul 2017 13:56:00
But he isn't French.

3.) 17 Jul 2017 13:57:13
Sorry he is French. Ha ha.

4.) 17 Jul 2017 16:19:12
Hi all!

This makes sense as Dortmund are apparently said to be interested in giroud. giroud plus 10-15 mill on top would be a great swoop. i hope wenger uses their interest to get this guy. silky and dangerous. it would be a dream.

5.) 17 Jul 2017 16:22:41
Steve 😁😁.

6.) 17 Jul 2017 16:40:15
Dags I can't even blame predictive text.

7.) 17 Jul 2017 22:27:55
Giroud plus 10-15 million won't be accepted, Giroud + 40 mil, then maybe. He's the next cristiano ronaldo IMO.

8.) 19 Jul 2017 08:39:53
Giroud and 10-15 mil? Didn't know Giroud was worth 70 mil. Deluded.

9.) 19 Jul 2017 12:17:51
giroud is worth around the 25-30 mill benchmark IMO. dembele would be around 50-70 million. the only reason i didn't say too much money was that dortmund have many players in the same position as dembele while they severely lack depth at CF. If auba leaves they will be in deep rubbish with young players (though highly talented) to lead their line. If they become desperate a deal could be possible. desperation can lead to clubs to making tough decisions.

10.) 20 Jul 2017 08:47:31
I rate Giroud above Welbeck, and he doesn't get injured so much, I would be looking to unload Welbeck and keep Giroud . !
Surley when trying to strengthen your 1st team and your squad, its the weakest player ( in any given position ) that should be sold, thereby strengthening the whole squad . ?

06 Jun 2017 11:16:51
Welcome Sead Kolasinac. Signing has been announced.

1.) 06 Jun 2017 12:08:46
monreal as a backup is our lb option sorted, but by going 3 at the back i guess kolasinac will be brilliant in the wingback position.

2.) 06 Jun 2017 12:22:52
Yep looks like Monreal will back up Kolanisac in the LWB position if he's not playing LCB. With Chambers back, strength in depth starting to look very good, even if Mertesacker retires and Debuchy/ Jenkinson leave.

3.) 06 Jun 2017 12:37:40
How has Chambers been doing at Middlesborough? Do you guys think he has a future at Arsenal.?

4.) 06 Jun 2017 13:37:43
i saw middlesborough play all the top 6 teams and in 12 games i think he was their best defender. although i'm not sure how consistent he has been for the remaining games, but i reckon he will get a chance.

5.) 06 Jun 2017 14:34:34
I watched a few games specifically to see how he was doing. 2 games looked very solid,1 game a couple of errors but generally thought he looked like a decent deputy. As he can play rb too, I'm guessing he'll come back as cover for CB and to replace Debuchy / jenks.

6.) 07 Jun 2017 04:00:36
I agree Lakes. He and Gibson worked very well together and I expect Gibson to be the subject of interest from some premier league clubs this summer. Chambers was equally as good (statistically better, actually) and if it wasn't for him, Gibson and Valdez, Boro would have been relegated way earlier in the season. Sadly for them, their RB and midfield was utter rubbish.

Jim that's my thinking too, Chambers as backup RCB and backup RWB is solid. Hope we don't blow big money on any more defensive recruits, we're very solid in that area.

15 Dec 2016 00:19:56
Playing 1 game a week is proving to be a big advantage, not sure if we'll be able to catch Chelsea, they don't look like dropping too many points at all .

1.) 16 Dec 2016 06:51:32
I fully agree. The Everton result was disaterous in our quest for the title. We need to get back on track and restore confidence with a much needed win at City. In the New Year, we get the superb Mustafi back. I did warn fellow Gooners that clever team rotation was necessary and I am sure Mustafi's injury was fatigue related. I know he was omitted against Basel, but perhaps his stats were already indicating fatigue. We will also have Welbeck back and a bit further down the line Cazorla. Ramsey should be back soon, possibly against City and Mertesacker too.

21 Aug 2016 20:46:58
Who are the strikers currently on par with Henry and Van persie

None of them are available.

1.) 21 Aug 2016 22:05:17
van persie wernt as good as henry so don't put them in the same mould.

2.) 21 Aug 2016 22:24:40
Ibra, higuain, aubamayang would also get a mention. Two of them were and one could be.

3.) 21 Aug 2016 22:29:42
Everyone's available at the right price, whether Arsenal can or would pay that price is a different question.

4.) 22 Aug 2016 08:25:58

5.) 22 Aug 2016 09:50:22
Benzema really?

For me, even Muller is better striker than him. A few years ago I'd have included Tevez and Atletico's Falcao in the list for sure.

6.) 22 Aug 2016 10:18:24
Everyone has a price.

7.) 22 Aug 2016 11:53:19
It appears that there is shortage of quality strikers and those that are of top quality are firmly entrenched at top clubs. Indeed, you have to take a huge gamble on paying absurd transfer fees and wages, to players of average quality.

8.) 22 Aug 2016 12:59:18
Rg while I agree, we also get absurd and astronomical amounts of funds coming into the club. Its all relative.

Mkatharian + Aubamayang with Sanchez leaving, would we have strengthened the team?

1.) 18 Jan 2018 14:52:29
If they hit the ground running and we get the Dortmund version of Micky then a big yes.

2.) 18 Jan 2018 15:08:18
I think yes. I can see Ozil and Miki having as great understanding and moving the ball quickly and incisively. With Auba and Lacazaette probing in front of those 2 sounds exciting to me. Of course none of this matters as the defense and CDM will still part the seas and let anyone through to score.

3.) 18 Jan 2018 17:22:29
Well you see I think of it the other way lefty. I don’t see how you can play laca and auba in same team and also oezil and Micky . For me it’s one or the other for both.

4.) 18 Jan 2018 20:09:48
Wenger’s converting Aubameyang into a DM. 😁.

5.) 18 Jan 2018 20:14:34
Ozil and miki in the same team would for me require two midfield destroyers. We haven't got one at the moment. All four could play together if the midfield was more robust.

23 Dec 2017 08:49:07
Disappointing performance yesterday, just watched the first half and then again after the third goal, thought tactic wise we were poor, their pressing was too much for attack to handle and kept giving the ball away, some dreadful passing by xhaka again.

{Ed025's Note - bar for his goal xhaka was awful wesley, the way all the team gave the ball away was shocking and thats down to the manager for me mate..

1.) 23 Dec 2017 09:24:21
Could even City carry Xhaka and Iwobi in their team and make top 4? I'm not sure.
Is there another premier league team where either would get a game?
Swansea Newcastle Stoke may all be struggling but I doubt any of them would welcome either Xhaka or Iwobi on loan, I just see how either is a premier league player, not their fault of course they can only be themselves and do what they can but they look totally out of their depth to me.

2.) 23 Dec 2017 09:32:04
Xhaka i'm not sure i've seen him have a good game so far.

3.) 23 Dec 2017 11:05:42
We should do this counter pressing style that everyone is doing, we just sit back as soon as we lose the ball.

4.) 23 Dec 2017 13:41:28
Granit xhaka is the worst footballer to play for this team in midfield since Denilson and i didn't think he could be worsed.

20 Nov 2017 22:29:59
Some new guy called Sven Mislintat has joined and Steve Rowley has left the club.

{Ed0333's Note - He’s has unearthed some real gems for Dortmund. I think you’ll be suitably impressed with his credentials mate. He’ll prove to be a shrewd piece of business I think.

1.) 20 Nov 2017 22:47:47
STill need to convince the talent to join us and continue to develop
First step.

2.) 21 Nov 2017 06:35:12
Part of the much needed shake up of the backroom staff.
The new fitness coach is clearly already having an effect with players bulking up and nowhere near the usual injury crisis we usually suffer going into the busy December period, nor the November collapse. Indeed, we only have long term injured Cazorla and Giroud injured and he may be back in time for Thursday. Against the Toot last season they looked stronger and fitter than us, but not this season.

3.) 21 Nov 2017 08:50:51
I think recruiting is only part of the problem and we need a real change in mentality within the club.
Reading Xhaka yesterday talking about us catching City this season I couldn't help but think how much he had become Arsenalized and like Poldolski and Mertesacker he had learned to talk a good game rather than deliver on the pitch.
I know he was being positive but I think it's a little embarrassing to hear the players talking titles after 1 good performance and result in view of our track record over recent years, no neutral fan would have taken Xhaka seriously and in my opinion such talk should remain in house until we've been on a 10 premier league game winning run and City have lost or drawn a few games.
I know Arsene will like Xhaka comments but to the rest of the football world it is just silly talk after one good result and reason for others to laugh at out expense.

4.) 21 Nov 2017 09:59:21
Ed02, has this new chap taking the role you mentioned about in the sharkopod? Or can we expect someone else to join in a negotiating role?

{Ed002's Note - I am not entirely sure I understand the first question.}

5.) 21 Nov 2017 10:35:48
I think ed was on about Raul sanllehi from Barcelona as chief negotiator. Maybe set to join in November unless he takes time off. Sorry if I've got that wrong.

{Ed002's Note - Ok, but he won't be joining in November and I thought I explained the position they are talking to him about.}

6.) 21 Nov 2017 10:48:29
Apologies Ed, I meant that in the sharkopod you said there was a possibility of Raul Sanllehi joining Arsenal from Barcelona. Is there a possibility he will still join Arsenal, or has that position now been filled by Sven Mislintat instead and Sanllehi will go somewhere else?

{Ed002's Note - I think there is some confusion. The two are entirely unrelated. Sven Mislintat will join as new Head of Recruitment (e.g. top of the scouting network) to replace Steve Rowley. Mislintat is a really nice guy and comes with a fantastic reputation. The situation with Raul Sanllehi is different. He is leaving Barcelona November 30, 2017 (although he is in London on business at the moment) and he will not finally commit to anything until that happens. Arsenal has approached someone else (as I dealt with some months ago) and have now approached Sanllehi to join Arsenal, initially with the title of Director of Operations but with the longer term intent of becoming the Director of Football. So the two are completely unrelated.)

7.) 21 Nov 2017 14:46:40
Yeah sorry ed I was pointing out that it was a different guy in a different role. Could remember exactly what you said in the sharkopod without going through it again.

{Ed002's Note - You don't listen to it on a loop?"

8.) 21 Nov 2017 17:32:57
I've listen to it again today. I will start playing it as I go to sleep and put it on loop in hope it burns into my brain. Just one more question before I do that though ed, will it make me gay if I let you sing me to sleep 😅.

{Ed002's Note - No but I might harvest some of those nice pink organs.}

9.) 21 Nov 2017 11:36:36
Thanks for clarifying that Ed. Will be some interesting times ahead by the sounds of things.

{Ed0333's Note - it looks like Arsenal are reinforcing their foundations, exciting times ahead perhaps.

10.) 21 Nov 2017 18:19:40
I harvest my organ daily ed 😂.

{Ed002's Note - As an Arsenal supporter I am hardly surprised.}

12 Oct 2017 18:24:54
Per Mertesacker video on working in mental health.

1.) 12 Oct 2017 20:32:25
Full marks to the man, I may not be his biggest fan on the pitch but I've always thought he was a very decent man.

2.) 12 Oct 2017 22:08:52
What on earth was Monreal doing at the end? Yes mert looks like a very nice

02 Sep 2017 03:02:30
We're in good for going into the man city game after beating arsenal 4-0 last week.

1.) 02 Sep 2017 07:04:38
Trolling us already 😂😂

Serious question about Chamberlain, if he'd been playing for any other team would you be happy Wenger had signed him for £40 million?

2.) 02 Sep 2017 07:20:13
Interesting question Stoner. Yes, Ithink I would have been happy if we signed him for £40m. He is still a young talented homegrown player. However, being in the last year of his deal £40m was a decent price as I don't think he is worth any more.

{Ed025's Note - in old money he probably isn,t RG but times have moved on, your average players are costing around the £30m mark now and the better ones really big dosh, i dont wish to harp on but arsenal need to get in this real world if they are to compete or they could well be left behind mate..

3.) 02 Sep 2017 08:01:38
Yes, Ed, but is Oxlade considered to be much more than an average player and the main reason he was sought after by Chelsea and Liverpool is that he is one of the better homegrown players that PL clubs have to sign to bolster their squads. You only have to look at last night's England team to see the complete lack of top quality English players. This can be shown by the fact that Livermore, a very average player, was selected. If there wasnt a limit of 17 overseas players in the 25 man PL sqaud, how many homegrown players would be in PL squads? How many homegrown players would get into a PL top eleven selection? Finally, there was absolutely no interest in signing Oxlade from any top European clubs outside the PL, which speaks for itself. Hence I believe £4om was as much as we could have expected to recieve whether or not in was in the last year of his deal.

{Ed025's Note - the price was a little high for me RG but a player is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay i suppose, arsenal should have brought in a replacement though, as a sack of money will not do much in midfield.. :)

4.) 02 Sep 2017 08:23:26
Yes, Ed you are probably correct, but the £40m fee was probably paid to secure a homegrown squad player and was considered the same fee whether or not he had a year to run as it secured the player.
As far as Arsenal are concerned Oxlade hasn't been a huge success at the club, often out injured and looking best at RWB or as an attacking wide player and yet wanting to play in a central attacking position where we already have the likes of Ozil, Ramsey, Iwobi and the emerging Nelson. I am certain that the sum received could be better used put toward signing a proper DM or CB.
As a final comment on Oxlade in 132 PL matches spread over his 6 years at the club amazingly he only scored 9 league goals and only 20 goals in 198 matches in all, an extremely poor return considering most of those matches were when he played in attacking roles.

5.) 02 Sep 2017 09:10:50
Pass completion of 84%, shooting accuracy 25%, cross completion 20% with nothing of note defensively as well as being poor in the air.

I think most of the time he's flattered to deceive and good money coming in but shameful we didn't buy an upgrade.

I can't say I'd have been happy if we were the buying club but who knows what Klopp can do with him.

6.) 02 Sep 2017 10:35:48
Stoner, like you I'd not be happy with that purchase. He's never been consistent and has very rarely shown any star quality. Maybe Klopp can get the best out of him, but I won't be placing any bets on that happening.

7.) 02 Sep 2017 11:23:18
for me he has no end product, can't cross, can't score and jumps up and down like a child when things go wrong for him, so no I would not be happy if we bought the mini hulk.

8.) 02 Sep 2017 13:04:53
Good posts Stoner

My Liverpool mate was going on about what a top signing AOC was. I pointed out his stats . he didn't realise how poor he was.

Of course a better manager might get much more out of him?

Someone with new ideas needed, wenger, mourinhos methods are no longer working, even anchelotti wouldn't make much of a difference I think. Pep, pochettino, klopp have fresh ideas. Arteta would b a gamble, but could b a good gamble, a la masia product, has worked with both arsene and arguably the best manager right now in Pep.

Wouldve been nice for us to be involved in a title race for once til the end, but looks like there isn't going to be any title race this season, still it would b great if we can finish above Chelsea utd n the rest.
