Not to be too pessimistic today after that fine win, but what exactly does Walcott offer that Lukas Podolski didn't, besides the pace? Theo doesn't contribute defensively, he doesn't hold on to the ball too well nor for too long. Neither does he have the ability to beat players like Cazorla or Sanchez. Are we being a bit hypocritical here with these players?

Before his Injury Walcott had the beat return in terms of goals and assists out of all the EPL wingers. He has pace that pins back teams and exposes those that push up.

Besides, he's been eased back to full fitness, give the guy a break.

2.) 11 Jan 2015
He isn't exactly back to his best yet, is he? After a year out injured you could at least give him more than 20minutes before dismissing him.

Yeah, and Ozil was crap too.

Come on, the man has been out for 12 months.
Once he finds his fitness he will be a massive plus to our team.

4.) 11 Jan 2015
Seriously? Theo is class, he can finish he is one of, if not the quickest players in the epl and loves arsenal to boot.

And as Detroit said check his stats!

5.) 11 Jan 2015
One of the strangest posts I've read for a long while. can't understand the logic or reasoning.

6.) 11 Jan 2015
I'm with climber! I've watched theo for years and he only has one game and that's pace but not just that he has to have the ball put in a certain place for him to do anything, he stands in one place waiting for the one ball to run on to I apprecate his been out for a long time but his had two great chances in two games and wasted both . Our game has changed and he needs to rapidly surely he has seen the way Sanchez plays his work rate is class he needs to take a leaf out of his book and stop hanging in the same spot!
And the way the crowd reacts when he comes on is quite unbelievable anyone would think his fooking Messi! I want him to adapt and stop being a one trick pony maybe harsh but take off your arsenal tinted glasses he simply ain't that good but could be if tried

{Ed025's Note - fair points there mate..

7.) 11 Jan 2015
I don't know which clock end you've been watching from but go to specsavers and get a look at the defenders faces when theo gets the ball and runs at them, the look of fear will tell you how good he is

{Ed025's Note - they are scared of his pace 337 which is lightening, but i have to agree with clock ender when he highlights the difference between him and sanchez, prime steak as opposed to corned beef mate..

Very harsh.

He has adapted his game over the years.

Last season he was injured, but season before he scored 16 goals and had 11 assists.

Yes, his game is based on pace, but he gets behind his man, creates space, pulls the opposition back 4 to go wide and creates chances for his strikers.

Henry use to love Walcott because he pulled the defence apart.

He use to be a one trick pony but has added vision and goalscoring to his game.

For me, Ribery apart, there are not many better in his position.

Can't believe you are judging him on past 3 games, where he has played about 40 minutes.

He may be fit, but he's not match fit.

Judge him after another 6 games.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think he is a bad player dags..just miles behind sanchez..but who aint?..

C'mon Ed,

You can't compare the 2.

Sanchez has played all season and is on top form.
He is in peak condition and his confidence is sky high.
If he farted it will hit the back of the net.

Theo has just come back, played about an hours worth of football in 12 months and is slowly finding his feet.

Unfair comparison mate.

{Ed025's Note - im not talking about this season dags, but as a footballer in general mate..

Sorry Ed,

To be fair, and as you said, there's not many you could compare to Sanchez at present.

But, I think a fit and firing Theo would certainly add a lot to the Sanchez party.

{Ed025's Note - no doubt about that dags, but im such a fan of sanchez, not only his phenomenal skill, but his work ethic, enthusiasm and team mindedness that most players would fail to live up to him mate..

I sit bang in the middle in upper tier so get a very good view of his hanging around the same spot waiting for the perfect ball to run on to . He has bags of potential if wants to adapt but I don't really see it happening his been here a long time and baring the odd good spell I honestly think his average but with exceptional pace take that away he is just average mind you his contract is due soon I believe so sure he will start performing soon . We have some hard working players at mo need others to step up not just theo don't shoot people down for not bowing to others opinions we all support same club just see it differently

12.) 11 Jan 2015
I have never been convinced. A bit like Podolski, in that despite his youth, pace and fitness he doesn't exactly track back and support his full back. He doesn't really take players on, he needs the ball to be kicked pass the player to run on to. He also is not good enough to be the single forward. For me I would like to see him make more runs away from the ball, instead of towards it.he has all the pace so I get so frustrated when he keeps coming short. As I said, I am not convinced, bit I really hope to be proved wrong.

The guy has been out for a year. Go back and look at his stats up to the spurs game. The level of amnesia and slating of our best players on here is surreal. Ozil just back and people want him sold. Bizarre opinions

14.) 12 Jan 2015
I am not slating Walcott. He adds a directness that even Sanchez doesn't. Of course he's not at his best now, but that's not the point I'm making. I'm just questioning his level of involvement in the build up play and how it will affect the rest of the team. Will be bouncing balls of Giroud and then expect Ozil to thread one through to Walcott? Will we stick to the same triangular passing game that suits Chambo more than Walcott? He's a different option, but how much would including him disrupt the current formula?
