A lot of people tip arsenal to mount a serious challenge this season and that has been the opinion since the run in of last year. A big part of people coming to that opinion was obviously based on the current challenging squads we play against. So do people still believe that if we don't sign any more players that we can still. Pose a genuine threat. Also people were unsure about City. Are people still unsure given their good start and the additions of sterling a quality CB in the shape of ottomendi and the likely arrival of de bruyne

Brow we can indeed in my opinion challenge for the league if and it's a big if everybody stays fit and Wenger can finally jump over his shadow and see that he has to play a winger on the right. Bad Luck for Rambo who I really rate quite highly but he has to make place for someone (the ox IMO)
City is still a wildcard for me. Yes they hit the ground running and were very impressive against a poor Chelsea side but it is down to both, toure and Kompany finding their form again and not down to Sterling. We are two games in three points behind City and two ahead of Chelsea (the two clubs to beat) doesn't look too bad. However if City keeps on playing like that, then they are the team to beat. At this stage it is too early to tell and I'll stick with my old top 4 in which we or chelsea win and city or united finish either 3rd or fourth. If we start judging now then Leicester would be a serious titlecontender and we all know that's not the case

I did incorrectly tip City to win it last season and but for Toure going off to the nations cup and getting a strop along with injury to Aguero think they would have done it.

They talk of the squad being old but they are not being pushed around in wheelchairs just yet.

They have to have close to if not the best spine and Otamendi was like Pelligrini said the best defender in Spain last year and used to play alongside Mangala.

With Sterling and De Bruyne (likely) they for me will be the team to beat. I don't discount Chelsea by any stretch as I would deem their current form fake. ;-)

United have done good but not outstanding business and are definitely stronger but by how much is difficult to gauge at this stage. I actually think letting Rooney go would help them no end.

We for me are pretty much standing still, yes Cech is potentially an upgrade but that has yet to be really confirmed but to still be sitting on our arses whilst others move forward is not how you win titles.

If I'm truly honest I have concerns about our supposed mental strength, as a failure to pip City for 2nd last season when we clearly could and should have and to be considered serious challengers, as you point out, but then get stage fright in game one and lose it doesn't bode well.

Yes we came back with a result at Palace but we are 2 games in, 3pts behind and 7 goals in the negative.

So yes City pose a huge threat and no I unfortunately don't think we have enough, as much as I love the current squad, they need help that Wenger for me has yet to really provide.

Hope I'm wrong and it's just my opinion.

{Ed025's Note - a bit negative there jenny, yes city look strong but to be honest they have played no-one yet, i still think arsenal will bring in a player or even 2 to enhance the team, and still see them as genuine contenders..

City and Chelsea are most peoples favourites, its a 3 horse race and they say always back the outsider of 3 and why not?
Dont lose to Chelsea in a few weeks time and we will be very strong contenders through out the season IMO.

{Ed025's Note - im with you G62..

114 points available over a season and only 12 of them will decided in the head to heads with city and Chelsea, come out of those games without a deficit and they can buy who they want but we will have 96 other points to fight for that they will have absolutely no say in even if they buy Messi Ranaldo and joey Barton twice.
