This squad on a good day play the best football. So who is to blame for if we fail to win more games? Wenger or The Players?

Very good question willy -

For me, Wenger is responsible for building such a quality and sustainable team and based on loyalty (missing ingredient around here sometimes), full credit to him. Still, I think his weak spot might be the game management - limited rotation and unbalanced team all too often.

It's a shared burden really.

The Manager can pick the wrong tactics for certain games, we go gung ho against big teams and get picked off.
When he decided to go more cautious against City last season or Chelsea in the Community shield, we won both times and played superbly.

He can also stick with a player who's not working, like Ramsey out wide.

He's also not addressing key area's like striker, centre half and defensive mid, in the window either.

The players however share an equal stake in the blame game.
If they aren't playing well, they become a weak link.

If they don't try, they let their team down.

They can be wasteful in possession.

Ultimately, the way a lot of players in our team play, is down to the tactics, but the 'blame' for poor performances can never lie at one mans doorstep.

The whole part of being a team is you share it all.
Highs, lows, wins, losses.

It's hard to pick. Some games could be because of the system wenger has told them to play, other games the players could just perform badly. It's not as clean cut as wenger or players fault. Most of the time it will be a mixture of both.

AW for playing them out of position.

Wenger. Needs to buy some world class players and so ambition. Sadly it went a decade ago

Good job Derby. You one again managed to make the exact same comment that you make every day. Which does in no way answer what the OP asked. I wouldn't be surprised if people like you are actually placed within the communities of football clubs to stir shit up, and further the over arching narratives perpetuated by the media. Look forward to reading that you think we need to sign 2-3 'world class players' (whatever the fuck world class is) tomorrow.
Sad thing is this nonsense gets though to our 'fans'. Not ony are the posts on this site generally monotonous during transfer windows, but I was seeing people still complaining of Wenger's reluctance to spend just after the windows opened. After two summers of quite considerable spending.
Another thing - I'd be embarrassed if we spent 50m on someone like De Byrne. People using the fact City do this to support their arguments that we should spend more is laughable.

@ OP - both imo, players seem mentally weak, have for years. Wenger's does seem to be lacking in terms if adjusting tactics for a given situation. But what do I know? He's paid the big bucks

Pre man city 90% Arsene 10% team because of his refusal to consider the opposition we faced and played his way in every single game regardless of who we faced or any injuries we might have which more and more teams learned how to contain more and more often.
Since the day at Man city when the team refused to get beat again playing as always away to the big boys things have changed and Arsene has become much less stubborn and set in his ways and against Monaco it was obvious when he accused the players of being naive it was the players who'd underestimated and taken Monaco too lightly not Arsene.
At the moment I'd say on the players get it wrong more often then the manager.

Dicky iv been making the same comment for years. And you have to ask why I keep making the comment?

Fans are no longer believing the excuses or being fooled anymore.

Also dicky. De bruyne for 50mill is a lot but I did think he will have a bigger impact than ozil. He will create more goals for them and push them on

The price of players has gone up we need to realise this and keep up with it mate. Sad but true

De Bruyne better than Ozil? Fantastic. This is drivel even for you Derby. He will hardy get a kick this season.

Derby do you know what ozil would do in city's squad, with their set-up? He would run absolutely wild, lead the EPL and Europe in assists it would be one big cocktail party for him, probably challenge Messi and Ronaldo for player of the year - far bigger impact than De Bruyne IMO.

If we get a striker with strength and mobility (Benzema and Lewandoski, I am talking about you) and Ox/Theo on the wing for balance - we could have the same thing here and even though I am a fan Spyder would have been an upgrade over Coq and a better fit for Ozil.
