A couple of seasons back my self and a couple of other negative posters :-) suggested the best thing that could happen to Arsenal would be for us to miss out on the champions league places to bring about a change of attitude by the club and manager but people said that would stop us attracting top players who insist on champions league football.
Fast forward two years and top players are giving us a wider berth than ever even though we are in the champions league yet again while Europe league Utd can attract Ibra and Pogba.
Maybe when these players sign a 5 year deal they aren't just thinking of the season ahead but the duration of that contract and 5 years and the champions league last 16 every season isn't top of their to do list while a season in the Europa league is acceptable if the club they are joining has real ambition to win the champions league and premier league.

I was one of those and stand by that 5th or 6th in the league would shake us up . We are in the CL as you say and can't attract anyone.
Of course you are correct about looking further ahead than the coming season, I wonder what story Sanchez and Ozil were told



I wonder what will be said if this AW's last season and he walks away after finishing outside the top four .

I hear what your saying G and yes your absolutely right but it also comes down to huge £££££ they get offered and if it's a manager they fancy playing under.

Ambition is huge though I completely agree.

United are the richest team in the world, Arsenal are not. They are paying double what we are in wages, and are about to spend 100m on someone I don't believe to be world class, nor do i think he'd even get in our first 11. THAT is why they are able to get players like pogba and zlatan - money. If we finished 5th we would not be magically signing these players, and to compare us with United is absurd.
