I want to speak out about something that's really annoyed me this transfer window, the media.

They are saying the most stupid things and people are just gobbling it up.

Jonny Evans to us. A lie created by the Daily Mail, with no source as to how they got this knowledge, now copied by every other player.

Mahrez, I know Ed001 said we had a bid on for him, but the flurry that came up a few weeks ago was created by the S*n and that Algerian Newspaper, and was complete nonsense.

People think we fail in purchasing tons of players, whereas in reality the vast majority we we're never actually in for.

Totally agree,
The media do stir up a frenzy of BS.

That said, why are we not going after players like Mahrez etc?

Mahrez, Mustafi, Lacazette = £95m and will give us a great chance of winning Prem.

But, the club won't spend the money.

We can blame the papers all we want all there doing is there job and selling papers or getting clicks, the only person to look at is Arsene all summer he could of addressed two issues a CB and a CF all arsenal fans would have been behind the team and believing we could challenge the fact of the matter is the one person to blame is him and the atmosphere on Sunday will be toxic, he says he loves Arsenal then do us all a favour and leave because i for one cannot stand another season of playing the same S**t system with just giroud up top or god forbid Theo

Rant over.

leicester don't want to sell mahrez, dags, so its not about money. The eds said we had an laid an offer on the table for him, but unless he decides he wants the move it ain't going to happen. Not sure what you want Arsene to do there other than kidnap him?

The media need stories and many of the rumours are spread through player's agents that want to either increase their players wages or get them a lucrative move. Take Mahrez, we were never going to purchase him as we have the following players all who need to be accommodated in the team at some stage; Walcott, Oxlade, Reinne-Adelaide, Ramsey and Wilshere (all can and may play wide right, Mahrez's position) .

We do not need and will not sign any more DM or attacking midfield players during this window. What we need desperately is a CB and a striker, possibly cover at RB, if as expected Debuchy is either loaned out or sold.
I doubt a purchase is imminent as clubs and players know that we are desperate for a CB and a striker, so Wenger will in all likelyhood go into the opening fixtures without making the signings and will try to tie up a couple of signings late in the window. Take Mustafi, Valencia know we are desperate to sign a CB, so they can push for a higher fee, say £30m, instead of £20m and the player can ask for wages of say £150k per week, insetad of £100k, which cost Arsenal an extra £22.5m in the transfer fee and wages over a 5 year contract.

Multiply that additional cost x2, to sign a forward under pressure and the cost can become around £50m extra for two players. If on Sunday we rush Koscielny back and play him alongside Chambers, with Walcott up front, we still have a strong team, capable of getting results against Liverpool and Leicester, after which I would expect Giroud and Ozil to return, If results are positive then we can try and sign players without being under pressure. If we for poorly, then we have pay the inflated cost of making the signings we need.
