Our own fault for not getting the deal done.

I wanted the Mudryk deal done to help us build on what we are already doing, Whatever the reason was for the deal to fall thru, disrespectful low offer (like Banbury said we knew the asking price?) . Wages, length of contract whatever it was, we move on. What we have to do is win tomorrow and next Sunday and we will take a giant stride to the title without Mudryk, Vlahovic, Slavic, Hazard and anybody else we have been linked with.
COYG???????.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal never offered to pay the asking price even after disrespecting SD. Srinagar made this clear.}

Zaha, tielemans and someone like thuram or Torres for less than Chelsea pay for mudryk would help us more. Obviously losing out to ok team for someone like mudryk hurts, but let's not forget our first xi is top of the league, reinforcements and competition is what we need, we don't need to upset first choice players, look at sons form since real competition has come in, some players thrive on real competition some teams thrive on the ability to make like for like changes (positionally and character wise) when needed and trust in their first choice team.

{Ed014's Note - say no to drugs!??

??? although who's to say if we got vlaovic last January instead of Jesus in the summer we would be where we are now, the Chelsea pressure has been there for a while, I trust that edu has a back up plan.

{Ed002's Note - Mudryk was Chelsea’s Plan B.}

The problem I had with Mudryk deal is that Shakhtar are being completely unreasonable with the asking price and in the end they got what they wanted. 100 million for a player that is completely unproven in the top leagues, had one or half of a season of good performances. He has potential and we might regret it later but he might also be a massive flop and be sold for 15-20 million after a few seasons. The market completely crazy only potential is valued and not the proven ability and everyone gets excited. Hypothetically speaking we would have much more value if we signed 5 players worth 20million with some potential from south america.
Look at our team how much did Martinelli cost, how much did Saka cost, Odegaard, ESR, Saliba. The whole spine of our team didn't cost half as much as we are supposed to pay for a POTENTIALLY good player who had a good season in the Ukranian league.
I mean at the end of the day I'm just a fan it's not my money sure I would've liked if we signed him, but as a bussiness deal it's potentially horrendous. Chelsea are desperate and Shakhtar were counting on that so good deal for them.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are not desperate and many Arsenal supporters are now in the embarrassing not wort it/trash mode.}

I agree Bgd mate, all transfers are a gamble, even Haa land was a gamble, OK Haaland was 1/ 10 odds on to work out but still a gamble, it's say this lad is 50/ 50 regardless if signed for us or Chelsea.

Sure ed. Chelsea are soaring and a player from a league outside of top 10 European leagues is worth 100 million euros.

{Ed002's Note - Te posts are really getting embarrassing - you are making yourselves look stupid with all this whining.}

No one knew who he was 4 months a go, and he's never worth the moneey Chelsea are paying for him.
Personally think we should go in for Zaha- should be cheap as he's only got 6mths left on his contract, PL player so will hit the ground running, and he's an Arsenal fan.

Who knows gunner62 what the odds are of Mudryk being a success they could be 50/ 50, 100, or 10 percent. But I would say it's a fact that he is unproven. Would I like if we signed him? Yes, it's exciting. All I'm saying is that kind of money should be spent on proven stars not on potential. 50-60 million for an exciting young player ok maybe. 100 million is for players that have achieved something year in year out.

Lukaku, grealish, greizmann, pogba, coutinho, felix, hazard, Sancho, Pepe, kepa, de Maria, de Jong, Rodriguez. Amount of money does not dictate success.
Desire and will to play for the club does, this may sound like an embarrassed fan but I would rather pay less money for the likes of martinelli, odegaard, Jesus, xhaka, zinchenko etc and be top of the table or even near with players who play for the badge than be stuck with some of the players from other teams or our recent history who have been overplayed and under performaned.
One good thing to come out of this is that if anyone wants saka, martinelli etc it's going to cost at least 200 million.

In what way doesn't it work? Players bought for 100 million plus and being a success 2 out of 10 (at best) , teams with character winning (Greece, Leicester, Wigan) may not be a high percentage but those teams didn't have half the talent we do (no disrespect meant) , players value being dictated by what other clubs pay. I don't think I need to respond to that after the last few days.

He wanted to play for Arsenal but a Ukrainian National wants to sign for a club that success has been because of a Russian oligarch and Russian money. The lad has got good morals lol.
