I didn't mean the team was lucky but Arteta was lucky his player's bailed him out, again, despite himself and his own inability to accept his made a huge mistake in ditching Ramsdale for Raya.

Its the same with playing Partey at RB, the team had to find a way of compensating for and overcoming the managers egotistical craziness.

Same way MA was extremely unlucky last season when the players didn`t bail him out! Can`t have both ways. Partey a misnomer - we were undefeated playing him there (not buying that Partey was upset ah didums) and overall not much between Raya and Ramsdale (who I prefer) but maybe we need an upgrade on both. Lucky / Unlucky No! Agree to disagree 42 COYG.

Manager didn't choose a side you would have so he's lucky the players he chose won him the game? I don't think it works like that. I used to be very critical of Arteta but look at our record for the last year. That's not luck. Nobody gets it 100 % right all the time but he seems to be getting it more right than most.

I get what you are saying 62. I think we’ve won with the team Arteta picked in spite of the team and arrogance of Arteta. I also believe we’ve drawn silly games due to his arrogance. I’d say Emery was good blessed in that 14 match run with us as we were awful and opposition were peppering our goal but couldn’t hit the target.

Ultimately, he can’t be lucky but despite clear gaps, flaws and subborness he’s got draws and wins. The team made its own luck by pressing the game last night. It wasn’t luck but drive and commitment.

We lost the league not because Arteta suddenly became unlucky but his squad, tactics etc ultimately weren’t good enough and he was scared to go after results which resulted in clumsy draws which cost us. He bottled it and was inexperienced.

He was fortunate Liverpool etc were poor also so we still finished a comfortable 2nd. But City absolutely spanked us home and away. That wasn’t unlucky. He was fair.

I think we need to learn from last season. Grow a set and make our own luck by pushing the envelop and being brave.
