With all the talk about Mahrez and lacazette, there's one player who comes to mind that could fill both gaps.

Paulo Dybala.

No talk about him linked anywhere, so he may be slipping under the radar. I assume he could be picked up for around the same price as one of the two above, and can play both wings and up top.

If we signed him and a CB like Mustafi, I would be very happy with our dealings in this window.

G-man I think everyone would agree with you mate but there's no way on hells earth we'll get him.

• He only just moved to Juve last summer
• He is looked upon as Juve's golden child
• He is a huge huge talent playing for one of Europe's elite
• If he were to leave he'd be £50m no doubt
• If he were to leave he would have the choice of any club
• He chose Juve over us last summer (apparently)

It would be a dream if we actually pulled off such a coop because he is one of the most exciting talents out there and still has plenty time on his side and time to improve even more so. Just can't see us even bidding tbh (test the waters)

No mate, Dybala will never be sold for 40-50 mil.

Sorry to burst your bubble mate, but Juve signed Dybala for something like £30m and he's now the jewel in their crown, so to speak.

No club, let alone us could get him for a similar price to Mahrez or Lacazette.
If Juventus sell Dybala, expect to pay a Pogba level price.

I'm not ITK, but I'm looking at what COULD be available to arsenal that would improve our squad and put us back to challenging for the title. I've read too many unrealistic rumours that although I would love to see, I would doubt that any of them would come to fruition.

For the "war chest" that we have available, I have compiled a list of players that would get us to where we should be.

Julio cesar
Sakho
M'Vila (yes, him again)
Gourcuff
Lamela
Benteke

All these players may not be transfer listed, but every player has a price.

IF we were to sign those players, which I believe could be reasonable signings, mixed with our current squad, then we could challenge for the title.

{Ed022's Note - Lamela will be £30m plus. No chance. Roma have just sold Osvaldo to Southampton so Lamela won't be going anywhere. Benteke is apparently an Arsenal fan, was on the transfer list and we didn't bid? He's now signed a four year deal so will be quoted at £25m plus. No chance. Gourcuff is injury prone and not what we need. Sakho is a definite. Begovic over Cesar anyday of the week. M'Vila chose money over football so stuff him. Don't want him... Just my opinion..}

I firmly believe it's the board. If you remember back to when we sold the dutchman to Man U, Usmanov wrote an open letter to the board complaining about lack of ambition regarding transfers.

A couple of quotes from that letter:

"The real conflict seems to be between the supporters' expectations and your vision for the Club and at the heart of this is the policy of so-called self-financing. The self-financing model was created to suit the major shareholders at the time, all of whom subsequently sold their shares. "

"As a consequence of this policy, which is dressed up as prudent financial planning, it is down to our manager, and not the shareholders, to have to deal with the Club's tight finances, carry the burden of repaying the stadium debt by selling his best players and having to continue to find cheaper replacements. All of that, naturally, comes at the expense of performance on the pitch. "

I think we should take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Wenger is a front/ puppet for kroenke. I believe wenger truly loves this club, and is a manager that we would have massive difficulty in replacing. If he were to leave today, who would replace him? There is no one available, as simeone will not leave Madrid now, klopp and koeman have recently taken positions.

i think wenger would have retired/ walked from arsenal years ago if we had the right man up top. Right now, NO MANAGER will be able to make us a successful club when the majority owner of arsenal will not spend money. Look at the Rams in the NFL, or the Avalanche in the NHL. Both teams on a downward spiral since he took over.

Wenger used to have the old catchphrase, "I didn't see it" to protect the players from media backlash when they had committed fouls on the pitch. He says the right things to protect people. He is now doing it with the board, only because of his love for the club. He doesn't want to come out and be honest, as that would effect possible future transfers and morale of our players. Like when he protected players in the past, he is now bearing the burden for the shortcomings of our club.

If we had usmanov at the helm, we could see a whole different arsenal, and in turn, a whole different arsene wenger.
