So Wenger is at it again? I can't believe it, always saying money isn't the problem yet he won't spend when he fully admits there are pot-holes in the team to fill.
Puzzles me how some fans behave as though they were born just yesterday. This has been the routine for the club during transfer windows and it hasn't changed one bit. Same comments, same excuses for over 12 years now. I presume the new stadium is still under construction then.
Some fans talk about what Wenger has done for the club and yes he's done a marvellous job and the world can atest to that but would we not as a club want to move on from the past? Are some fans satisfied with having to live on former glories while with respect the likes of Leicester are showing ambition. Wenger has accomplished "A" and I think it's time to move on to "B" and not keep stagnating on "A". I'm sorry but just infuriated by his comments, they (the coments and excuses) have always been the same.
We as fans must dream big and not settle for top 4. No progress still.

Aim to be the best you possibly can be should be the motto of every club whether it's Arsenal Accrington Stanley or Aldershot that's the minimum every fan should expect from its club, if not it's no longer about sporting achievement so what's the point?
As for what Arsene says :-) it's ridiculous to even take it seriously enough to let it upset you mate, he has for many many years said things he later admitts he didn't really mean or think true himself.

I think we as supporters of the club need to stop feeding the board level people at the club with money I think this is the only way they will take notice. What's the point putting our hard earned money into the club if their not going to use that money to put what's needed to compete at the top level on the pitch.

I think we should take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Wenger is a front/ puppet for kroenke. I believe wenger truly loves this club, and is a manager that we would have massive difficulty in replacing. If he were to leave today, who would replace him? There is no one available, as simeone will not leave Madrid now, klopp and koeman have recently taken positions.

i think wenger would have retired/ walked from arsenal years ago if we had the right man up top. Right now, NO MANAGER will be able to make us a successful club when the majority owner of arsenal will not spend money. Look at the Rams in the NFL, or the Avalanche in the NHL. Both teams on a downward spiral since he took over.

Wenger used to have the old catchphrase, "I didn't see it" to protect the players from media backlash when they had committed fouls on the pitch. He says the right things to protect people. He is now doing it with the board, only because of his love for the club. He doesn't want to come out and be honest, as that would effect possible future transfers and morale of our players. Like when he protected players in the past, he is now bearing the burden for the shortcomings of our club.

If we had usmanov at the helm, we could see a whole different arsenal, and in turn, a whole different arsene wenger.

Good post G-Man,

But, is it the board or the Manager?

Nobody knows. That's the problem.

I firmly believe it's the board. If you remember back to when we sold the dutchman to Man U, Usmanov wrote an open letter to the board complaining about lack of ambition regarding transfers.

A couple of quotes from that letter:

"The real conflict seems to be between the supporters' expectations and your vision for the Club and at the heart of this is the policy of so-called self-financing. The self-financing model was created to suit the major shareholders at the time, all of whom subsequently sold their shares. "

"As a consequence of this policy, which is dressed up as prudent financial planning, it is down to our manager, and not the shareholders, to have to deal with the Club's tight finances, carry the burden of repaying the stadium debt by selling his best players and having to continue to find cheaper replacements. All of that, naturally, comes at the expense of performance on the pitch. "
