Aloha lads. I just thought I'd drop past to get some insight from proper Arsenal fans as to your feelings regarding the club at the moment.

I know a lot of frustrations are with Wenger at the moment but my main question is on the curious case of Alisher Usmanov. Never in my life have I read about a man who wants to throw money at his passion but just cannot get past the final locked door.

What I am asking is do you believe that if Usmanov got control of the club he would restore the glory days? And more importantly does it worry you that if Stan the money man keeps Usmanov at arms length long enough one of the richest Arsenal fans in the world will move into other ventures (his links to Everton are getting more interesting by the week) ?

I'd like to hear from the eds on this one as well. I hate seeing great clubs in decline especially when they have the resources that Arsenal have.

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure they are in decline, there is money to spend, they have a strong brand, there is little Usmanov can do to really improve on the club's standing. Throwing money at it isn't the answer, as the manager is keeping a rein on spending anyway. There is more money than he is using, would Usmanov make him spend it?}

Ed I think that is my point regarding Usmanov. I believe he would make the club spend the cash as he wants glory not just increased revenues. How many sugar daddy's actually support the clubs they own these days? It's a rare situation at Arsenal for sure.

As for being in decline I feel that the fact they are now a very lengthy spell into not being a challenger for the title means they are not the club they were in my opinion. If they do not get CL football this season that will slipping down another rung.

Ed if you were an Arsenal fan who would you choose to take over if Wenger called it quits at the end of the season. I reckon they should push for Jorge Sampaoli.

{Ed001's Note - the only way to make the club spend cash would involve pushing Wenger out the door.

For me Sampaoli has a few issues, but he does seem the best available candidate right now.}

Ed what issues does Sampaoli have for you?

{Ed001's Note - the way he left Chile was a bit distasteful mate.}

Usmanov has not stated that he wants to inject his own funds into the club. What he actually suggested doing some time ago was issuing a rights issue for £100m to buy players. In effect fans would have lent the club money for a period of time, without any interest element. Very few super wealthy individuals actually inject their own funds into the club. Abramovich is one, but he wanted the club to run profitably and it may do so nowadays. At Man City they inject funds, but the Glazers at United dont. I have no complaints in respect of Kronke, who hasn't interfered with the way Arsene Wenger has run the club. If he wanted spend club funds on big money purchases, such as Sanchez, Ozil and Xhaka it has been allowed. He has taken very little money out of the club, just a couple of million or so in respect of marketing, which I believed he stopped taking. If Usmanov took control, brought David Dein back on board and injected his own funds, I wouldn't object, but this is highly unlikely.

If Wenger departs and he is available Ancelloti would be my choice.

With that in mind would sampoli help or hinder the Sanchez situation.

With the Barcelona job seemingly available this summer we might miss out on Sampaoli. Reassuring that Ed thinks he's a viable/ available candidate.

Whilst David Dein was in charge Wenger seemed far more ruthless and maybe that was to do with that fact he had a strong character backing him/ encouraging him to constantly improve the squad. Maybe Usmanov can be that man.
