That was a great insight ed 002. Thank you for taking the time. It's obviously new information to is but this is nothing new to the powers that be whether your in charge of fees at Madrid or Oxford Utd, you know the process so you need to have all the bases covered. This does not now all of a sudden give Wenger and Gazidis a reprieve for some of the monumental cockups and cat and mouse catastrophic episodes of slow playing deals to the point of actually making the player feel undervalued. See Mata and Higuain for example, forget how we slowrolled the deals to save on 1 or 2 million, we gave the other rival bidding clubs the platform to convince those players, and players like them in similar failed deals, that they were wanted more by them. so that's how our eyes get wiped so often. The reality is that so many other clubs are able to get their deals done much faster than Arsenal. History confirms this.

Arshavin basically came to London himself to force the deal through, he had more desire than the club, I remember him at a Snowey London airport on Sky Sports news getting into his lift. The deal wasn't confirmed for another week after. We are notoriously laboured in sealing these deals unless the majority of the running is done by the player. and we all know Zlatan (and players of his ilk) don't do the running in these deals. This day and age their charging prices and merchandising everything at this club to take into account the costs associated with the modern day inflated costs attributed to signing big players. their actually charging above that, and are still failing to deliver it even attempt to go out and sign what is required and put a compelling case for a move to a world class player. I used to think this was because of Wengers moral code of what he thought was the right and wrong way to approach another player in respect of the parent club, but the sanctioning of the forty mill plus one pound bid for Suarez put paid to that theory. It's apparent that Wengers own ego forbids him from going that extra mile to massage that of the difficult modern day types.

The world class players we've signed recently were all made feel surplus to requirement by their clubs, I. e Ozil, Sanchez and Cech. We didn't kick down their Clubs door and turn their heads with an offer they couldn't and a refuse and with a desire that made them feel a positive vibe from us. We had the money and they came because Wenger considered them to be Value for that money. Right now if we spend massive for Lukaku or Morata I would lose my mind. Icardi is available for twenty million less and is a more rounded robust option and open to massive improvement, their are many like him aswel, Gameiro or Griezeman are quite CF target men but I just can't abide this notion that finding players is so difficult.

It's more propaganda from a club who've perfected the smoke and mirror effect on their own fans. Who's not spending out money; 'it's Wenger', ' no its Stan', ' no, bros, it's Gazidis'. No its all the above because its a consensus between them that has been cultivated by Wenger because all they know is his methods because they havnt overseen another manager's approach at Arsenal so they go with what is reaping financial reward because they can't take the risk needed and value the money above that of showing the player he is who they want.

We should be signing both Icardi and Lacazette even this summer and sending Giroux to the glue factory. The very fact the guy cups his ears after scoring two in one game when he previously gone 15 without one tells you all you need to know about him.

Good post. I was very pro Icardi until I realised he was slow.

I think we need mobility up from. If you look at the some of the more recent intimidating attacks now, they have pace and movement.

Neymar - Suarez - Messi
Ronaldo - Benzema - Bale
Rues - Auba - Mkhitkarian
Robben - Ledanowski - Muller

At the moment we aren't far.

Sanchez - [Giroud] - TBC

We have options for TBC:
Iwobi/ Walcott/ Ox/ Wilshere (if Fit)

So mobile forward, that can lead the line, shows strenght, etc.

Ed, not to convolute the conversation as I'm sure there's plenty of fellow fans who'd rather be reading anything other than this, your good self included! . I am a lifelong arsenal fan, I'm 32 so up to now 25 yrs following them, obsessively because you can't like a club like Arsenal, you have to LOVE them, particularly the last decade, it was a completely instant and unbiased attraction. My father is a lpool fan, my mates the usual mix of the generic Utd and Lpool sheep who followed the trophies and support them because they were bought a mug or pencil case for Christmas. I don't think we're a special breed of fan, or that I'm a special type of fan amid my fellow boomers as its very difficult to get to games as I live in Ireland, but to be fair and objective, not to mention appreciative of good football and a solid team and coaching performance, that there is little room for doubt that Leicester have been the best team in that league up to this point. We rely too heavily on Alexis and Ozil and we are too prone to predictability both on the field and tactically. When I see a player hauled off after 45mins or and hour for a performance not worthy of the Arsenal jersey, well then I'll know there something serious happening at my club again. Right now though it's groundhog day with the best football minded and idealist manager well ever see, sometimes he's got unbelievable resolve, insight and humility, other times he's the most stubborn, arrogant manager around who really does feed us untruths here and there and does not seem to recognise a man in his job or his players job earning the sums they are earning should have to be held accountable to performance, if not to the themselves, then the board, if not them then us fans. I just dint see that. We're not just here for revenue purposes. I'm going to stop writing now, I'd love to see us win this league, but I think the doubt lies more in these players and the managerlacks the conviction, especially when he makes statements post Liverpool 'kick-in-the-balls' draw that 'what's important is not the manner of the draw but that Europe saw a fantastic game'. Really Arsene, I mean really really?

{Ed025's Note - i get that love your club ethic shambo, as an evertonian for over 50 years i have seen the ups and downs myself mate, but the fact is you have been spoilt as gooners, 20 odd years qualifying for the CL plus cups and the invincibles.. not much to moan about there...but you gave it your best shot.. :)

Maybe harsh ed, but just trying to add some perspective into the viewpoint that Berahino is any worse than any other players of his generation right now. Regarding Theo, he just doesn't do enough. He just doesn't. There's too many so-so performances and no shows and next thing you know he's up for contract talks and his agent feeds word out that massive rivals are in for him. I don't think there can be argument we overpay before our players have proven themselves. We should be 7 pts clear, this league is going to be the worst for a long time and any amount of real belief and ambition from either a manager or collective group of players would win it pulling up. There isn't a team in it fitting that description and certainly not us on the last 6 away performances.

Shambogunner84

{Ed025's Note - come on shambo, arsenal are top for a reason mate they are the best at the moment, i think theo could do a lot more as well, but its up to arsene to play him more..

Half the Arsenal squad aren't worthy of a team with title aspirations so what's your point? I'm die hard Arsenal and I know that. I don't particularly like how he's conducted himself, or maybe how he's been advised but he'd be the closest thing to Ian Wright we have had. Not that there's the slightest chance Wengers going to part with anymore money this month. By the way dint forget we've had plenty of players hold out and pressurise us into unfair unworthy contracts or exits, I mean how is Walcott earning wages the size of top players in Europe for what he's achieved, has the guy played 3 7/ 10 games in a row. I don't think so!

Shambogunner84

{Ed025's Note - thats a bit harsh shambo...even raver and rayray are more complimentary than you mate..
