Well that's how we should be playing!
I saw some real talent on the pitch last night.
Barcelona! that's who I am talking about .
Sorry if you thought I was going to talk about our beloved Arsenal there.

We are so far far way away from being on there level it's painful. I think we would have to virtually get shot of every player in our team and start again if we have any chance of competing at that level.
Arsenal have left it so long to bring players in that it has now caught up with us.
I will stick my neck out and say apart from
Cech and maybe Sanchez at a push we have not got one player in the Arsenal squad that would be a regular player in that Barcelona team. I doubt if most of our players would make the bench!

How in the world are you going to attract quality players to Arsenal when we are so far off the pace year after year.
We shop in the bargain basement to start with and when we are going after a quality player we don't want to pay the wages they demand! . So where are we going with it all. We are just stagnating every season.
Apart from MAYBE! Sanchez and Ozil who is there in our present squad that would be like a reference as to why a quality player should play for Arsenal? Barcelona have a whole team of them.
How would you sell Arsenal to a top
player?
" Come and play for Arsenal you can play alongside Welbeck, Ramsey, Mertesacker,
Chambers, Walcott, need I go on? It sounds pathetic doesn't it?

How much have we got to spend again?
I would say whatever it is it's not going to be enough.
Oh and another thing I wanted to rant about too .
What's this constant obsession about being above Spurs all the time even Wenger brings it up sometimes.
Ok they are neighbours etc etc.
But if Spurs finished 17th that's OK as long as we finish 16th.
Maybe the premier league title is just too much for us to handle aswell. If this was our best chance of winning it WELL! what else can you say.

Comparing where we should be to Barcelona is like saying every female singer is rubbish because their not at Adele level, I thought we did OK for us last night and probably as well as we are capable of over the 2 games against the worlds best team.
Our battle isn't with Barcelona we've a way to go before we need to seriously worry about them our battle is to make ourselves capable of getting 80+ points again and then maintaining that level consistently, one step at a time is what's needed and 80 points in season isn't a bad place to get ourselves back to because that would real genuine progress and something we haven't been capable of for years.
Finishing above spurs and in the top 4 is a fan pleaser that keeps the money coming in and the discontent to a minimum which is job done for club manager players and a lot of our fans, there's no question that we need to raise our ambitions because for a very big club we are a long long way from being all we could and should be.

I appreciate its your opinion YOBDLOG but with the addition of simply an Aguero in our team the outcome may have been somewhat different.

Aguero would have made us premier league champions this season Stoner for me there's little question of that and over the two legs it would have been much more of a contest with Barcelona had we had him in our side that's for sure, but Barcelona to me never got out of 3rd gear for the majority of the 180 minutes against us and we would need a bit more than just Aguero to make them shift into 5th.
Add a quality CB and ATM to Aguero and it would have been interesting.

I agree 62 but sometimes we are very harsh on our team and going into a game with little confidence we did well and taking chances makes a huge difference.

We showed against Bayern when the team had confidence what we can do and whilst we need more than a striker, a top one would make such a massive difference for us. Cazorla has been a huge miss.

I know that Wenger is to blame for us not having one but this team with the all important confidence is a different side all together.

We can do little now but get behind the boys for the run in with more hope than expectation.

Play pretty much the same side, keep Giroud, Flamini and Walcott well away from the starting 11 and let's see what happens.

its always one or two players short. in last nights game, yes augero may have made a difference but over the season i doubt we'd be top of the league.
our spine is fragile and the squad is full of part timers who are well out of their depth. we need a cb, at least one cm, a rw and a cf. and to get rid of a few charlatans currently taking places in the squad.

AG if we'd taken 10% of the excellent chances we'd created this season in the league wed be top of the premier league by some distance right now, is a striker all we need? No of course not but a top quality finisher would be a giant step in the right direction.
Last night we did OK against a cruise control Barcelona who simply didn't need to be even close to full power to beat us 5 1 that's the reality but as said above over taking Barcelona in the CL isn't even close to being on our realistically achievable to do list for the near future and we shouldn't let a few missed chances delude us about that .
Gaps need plugging and they need doing all in one go because if try and do them bit by bit new ones will appear as Kos Caz and Monreal all get well into their 30s and we're back to square one as always.
