Welcome to Arsenal, Jeremy Monga.

Apparently Jeremy Monga is close to signing, and there’s been talks between Rodgers and Arsenal; he only wants to join us. I don’t know how true this is, but we have bid 52m for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, who looks very, very good, and we are looking at Frankfurt's LB as Barcelona and Real want Cali.

Ive heard two little rumours
1/ ode is wanted by munich
2/ there is talks in the club about giving up the captaincy so there is less pressure on him and rice will be captain next season or gabs.

With Peres the Madrid president says if he’s re-elected he’s promised a world class signing. It’s just come out it’s Olise he wants. Will that mean Rodrygo is available and would we be interested? What’s everyone’s thoughts? Would he be good enough for us on the left, his preferred position?

Dublin gooner

1.) 07 Jun 2026 08:06:11
It's not Olise, it's the PSG winger Karaslavatsa.

2.) 07 Jun 2026 13:55:27
Romano says it's Olise.

3.) 07 Jun 2026 16:14:25
Perez said himself it's not Olise.

4.) 09 Jun 2026 19:55:56
Seems it was Alvarez all along! £130 mill, a chunk of change! Do we try, knowing he wants Barca? Can Barca afford him? Don't think transfer window has opened and my brain is blown already COYG.

03 Jun 2026 19:26:45
Surley Vlahovic on a free is a no brainer all out then for a world clsss ledt winger be class siging too.

Dublin gooner

1.) 04 Jun 2026 05:28:40
Is he a no-brainer, really, though? 7 goals in 19 appearances in Serie A. Probably wants huge wages. Personally, I think I'd rather spend money on someone that fits what we need -- a dynamic, fast striker who can make us more unpredictable up front.

2.) 04 Jun 2026 08:45:54
We must get Alvarez, if not continue with Kai and Vic and invest money in a proper left winger.
Eds or anyone heard anything who we are pursuing for left wing (apart from the Rogers links)

3.) 04 Jun 2026 12:02:36
Apparently Monga is very close to signing for us, obviously he's one for the future. Could be in the next few days.

4.) 04 Jun 2026 13:26:07
As a bit of a left-field option, what about a bid for N'Diaye at Everton? He's always looked a very good player, with prem experience. With rumours Everton want Jesus, could a potential deal be made?

5.) 04 Jun 2026 18:11:09
He is a good player, though. Not sure he is an upgrade on Martinelli or Trossard, and Everton will demand money, as he has a substantial period left on his contract, so expensive for a squad player.

6.) 04 Jun 2026 18:11:59
In that category (squad depth and more experience) , Harvey Barnes could be a good shout.

7.) 04 Jun 2026 19:36:40
Harvey Barnes, hahahahahah. At Arsenal we want to move forward, not ten years back. My nonna is better than him.

8.) 04 Jun 2026 19:46:04
Arteta obviously saw something in Vlahovic a few seasons ago, and big money was talked about. He chose to go to Juve, which obviously didn't work out for him.

9.) 05 Jun 2026 10:59:53
But Vlahovic won't offer anything different, he is very similar to Vic. So we will end up with two strikers with same strengths and identical hairstyles. ?

10.) 05 Jun 2026 18:42:19
Arteta also signed Vic, Kai & Noni. If this guy was below that, then move on. Let's get some much needed pace into the side, and players pushing that "world class" label. We showed in the final that our attack was wanting. My sofa moved more than Vik & could probably have held the ball up better.

We must improve the starting 11, with top top class additions & drop some of the starters, including Ode, to bench or move them on. Time to be ruthless if we want to keep moving forward.

11.) 05 Jun 2026 20:45:59
SY, I know you are critical of Vic, but he has done fine for his first season, also taking into consideration that our overall play didn't suit his style. He will be on fire next season if we start moving the ball quicker. We do need another striker though.

12.) 06 Jun 2026 17:44:07
Top three strikers bar none are Haaland, Kane, Mbappe not in order. Then for stats Alvarez, Dembele, Gyorkeres, Osimhen, Martinez (Inter) , Ekitike and Lewandowski all very, very similar (maybe Martinez a cut above) .
I'm assuming top three are untouchable. I would say Alvarez or no one and pump the money into another quality midfielder, maybe Rogers, and the best LW we can find.

Alvarez seems to be Barca bound so I'm happy with an excellent LW replacement plus a strong creative midfielder. Tweak with quality.
I think Viktor, like Highbury, will be excellent next season and Saka's output can't be as poor again. Coupled with the new LW, goals will be aplenty COYG.

13.) 07 Jun 2026 10:50:05
Yes, I am tough on Vik, but what top team has he scored against in the league? He doesn't have the pace or finesse or fear factor that a Haaland has. Zero chance he strikes fear into defences, and zero chance he scores that Haaland goal against Everton. We need a Henry or a Wright who can flip a game on their own & when they get the ball you stand up in anticipation of something happening.
Vik is a good 2nd choice & will have a better season, I'm sure, as 14 goals against weak sides and long barren patches is beatable.

A striker's main skill should be scoring, not defending. Arteta likes easy to manage, hard workers who defend.

We probably didn't play to his strengths, but he also didn't get into enough dangerous positions. He gets praised for work rate, flicks, joining up play (backwards) , and running channels. Not much on touch, turning defenders, outrunning defenders, getting into the box & scoring important goals in big tight games.

14.) 07 Jun 2026 13:24:52
This is so Deja vu! Last season we had the same conversation! Sy, you wanted Osimhen, yet no massive clubs in for him. Attitude and wages an issue. I ultimately don't care about wages, it is what it is, but I feel we got to where we are on ability and team spirit! Is he worth the risk? I'm out! However, like last year, I'm willing to be convinced by a better option and a realistic option.

Who is this Henry / Wrighty player, please? Alvarez or stick budget elsewhere for me. COYG.

15.) 07 Jun 2026 15:50:17
I am also bearing in mind Barca want Alvarez, and he left the UK apparently because his wife didn't like Manchester/UK. We might not even be in with a chance to sign him COYG.

16.) 07 Jun 2026 23:06:51
Okay - so Barcola, Kroupi & Rogers.

That gives us momentum, forward motion & something new. Quick feet & quick brains.

Certainly give us options and a different look - Vik only scored 11 non-penalty goals in the EPL, and not against a top side. So, for me, he needs to be on the bench / rotate.

Maybe Ode or Eze will be allowed to pass forward & not be in the back 4. If that's the case, we stop being a fiddler & play Rice as DM & buy a better partner who complements him better, like MLS does, but an upgrade. Perhaps we free up a CM to be sold, like Merino or Kai, etc. Why pay 105m & not play Rice in his best position? If we need to up the energy, is Zubi that guy? He had a great season & a strong start, but is this square pegs round holes by the boss? Not sure I want MLS as our #1 partner, but great back up for a busy season, or will Zubi last the pace of the EPL?

The boy is on a huge wage in Turkey, but let's see.

Bournemouth signed a winner.

Adeyemi / Mbappe? I'm sure there are strikers out there & if we pay 65m plus 280k PW for Kai, then no reason we can't soank 350k on a WC player. Need to adjust our criteria, as work hard defensively ain't a striker's main skill, yet the boss loves that Vs goals.

17.) 07 Jun 2026 23:25:59
Did you just put Vik in the same conversation?. ?

Martinez - that would be quality & Alvarez (put a tasty bid in & see - London very different to Manchester) ?
Kane
Konate
Openda

I'm sure, if we look proper and spend money, they are there if the boss really wants a proper striker.

18.) 08 Jun 2026 07:52:26
I did put Vik in there, and I stand by it! Buy a centre forward and we'll win the league! Guess what, and he'll be better next season! We do agree on two players, Kroupi and Rogers, but come on, Kane (realistic?) . Martinez is wedded to Inter, Konate? London is nicer than Manchester, but Barcelona is stunning! Kroupi on the left, Vik/Kai down the middle, Saka on the right.

I think a real chance in Prem. Europe? Barcola not for me. Cheeky bid for Kane, after all he's one of our own ? Still Alvarez or no one for me, although I am feeling a bit blinkered, and a bit worried I've agreed with Sy on a couple of players - need a lie down. COYG (going to check out Openda as don't know him) .

19.) 08 Jun 2026 07:55:16
Openda, no, just no. COYG.

20.) 08 Jun 2026 23:01:37
Hope you are good, Sussex, and thanks for the back & forth. I'd be happy with a good young CF who has pace that rotates with Vik, or is plan B. We deffo need a proper LW, as Noni isn't a LW or a starter.

We need to get the ball forward faster - maybe Vik does better, but we need options other than him & Kai.

Glad you are seeing sense. I was throwing names out, as there are options.

21.) 09 Jun 2026 11:12:36
I just think it shows how tough it is to build a correct blend for the team, and how tough to please everyone. We obviously aren't far away if we keep our starters and decent squad cover. We are definitely in with a great chance of a repeat.

Exciting times and another rollercoaster - life of a Gooner, I guess. COYG (enjoy a back and forth, especially as I agree with you the least of posters on here - what makes the site so good) .

22.) 09 Jun 2026 20:07:11
Exactly! Enjoy your week.

29 May 2026 14:27:20
As Barcelona want Alvarez and so do we, what would everyone like this window as in attackers? I have two versions in case Barcelona get Alvarez as they have bid 100m today.
If we get him I’d like Barcolla for the left and Rodgers as number 8 plus Alvarez.

If we don’t get him I’d like to spend big on the left Kava (PSG winger) for the left, Rogers as the 8 and Koupri as striker as cover for Gyok.

Dublin gooner

1.) 29 May 2026 15:31:23
Ideal window will be Barcolla, Alvarez, Rogers and Dumfries (right back) .
Kvaratskhelia and Mbappe will be difficult, but if we can get either of them instead of Barcolla, we will be unstoppable.
Kroupi will be a good addition, but not sure if he will be sold, as Bournemouth are in Europa and he will be guaranteed play time to develop.

If we get Rogers, we will have to sell Kai or Odegaard. Definitely get some cash for Martinelli, Jesus, White, Nordgaard and Nwaneri. If Trossard also leaves, we should go for Rashford.

2.) 29 May 2026 18:43:41
Barcolla, Alvarez, Rogers & Kroupi

That would change our style & attack - No one will buy Kai from us. Seriously. Who else is mad enough to pay him 280k per week, plus we spent 65m!!

Maybe on bench: Kai, Noni, Vik & Trossard.

Then fullbacks need upgrading in back up & options.

3.) 29 May 2026 18:55:48
We have two or three players for each position. Gyokeres, Havertz and Jesus for ST. Martinelli and Trossard for LW. Saka and Madueke for RW. In addition to a few attacking midfielders, some of which can also play in the front line.

So, any incomings are dependent on departures. I think two senior players per position is a must, since we will probably play twice a week for most of the season again.

I like Kroupi for versatility and finishing ability (which we lack currently) . We're also lacking a young developing talent in the forward line (Dowman may end up as AM, I think) . Not sure about any other targets, to be honest. If we're going to add a 25+ player, he needs to be of a superstar quality like Kvara. Otherwise, no point in replacing what we currently have.

4.) 29 May 2026 19:41:18
If I could. Gyokeres - bench. Havertz - sell, and Jesus - sell. If we are talking about us improving & trying to win the league again.

For all those that say - keep Kai. I'd ask: would you buy him and pay him 280k per week, or look elsewhere? As an alternate to Cam or off the bench? No for me, but he's a decent but expensive squad player.

Martinelli (sell) and Trossard (bench) for LW.

Saka and Madueke (bench & defo never LW) .

Just my thoughts, Iceman, but no one is buying Kai, so only Jesus leaving, as Vik offers something different but should be benched. Hopefully better second season and a plan B.

5.) 30 May 2026 01:21:46
Barcola, Alvarez, Rodgers & Kroupi? That's likely over £400m.
Jesus & Martinelli might get £50m combined. Maybe an extra £15-20m for Trossard. No one's buying Havertz or Odegaard. Seems beyond fanciful.

{Ed014's Note - you boys will literally buy anything with a pulse, so never say never!

6.) 30 May 2026 02:47:27
Shhh, fuser, let them play football manager. ?
We see this every summer, and it's always amusing.

7.) 30 May 2026 07:26:24
I knew this reminded me of something, and Football Manager it is!

8.) 30 May 2026 07:57:44
True - a bit ambitious, but we could do with transitioning the ball quicker, which means Ode at risk, definite LW which puts Martinelli at risk, and we need a better striker if we are going to play with a bit of pace. so Kai & Jesus (509k per week at least) at risk. LW, CF and ACM to change our attack.

That would free up wages & cash, including selling some youngsters, which we will need to do.

Kroupi, Barcola & Rogers would do that. If we feel Ode can return to forward passes & quick passes, then great, don't get Rogers.

But I don't really want Kai & Vik as our attackers next year.

It's not Football Manager, but throwing some names out there to change our attack & style while keeping the defensive rock.

We need fullbacks also - this could be a 2 season process, but we need to inject something into our attack. Can't rely on corners then try long throws.

I guess you are happy with our attack - why not throw out a name rather & be wrong or laughed at rather than sit behind the sofa & praise whoever Arteta signs from Chelsea or another defender?. ?

Sy I have a mate who couldn’t celebrate the title win (personally I can’t see why it baffles me honestly) . He was exactly the same as you all season. Arteta couldn’t do nothing right in his eyes also. So when I was having a meal with him I said why can’t u celebrate? He said I don’t know. So I said to him maybe it’s because deep down you wanted Arteta to fail so you could say I told you so.

He hates Arteta. He said maybe. Is that why you can’t celebrate winning the title after 22 years SY or is there another reason? Because I can’t for the life of me understand any Arsenal fan who isn’t celebrating still. I know other mates who have Arteta but are buzzing.

Hi Dublin,
Hope you are well - I think if you read all my posts you will see 1. How happy I am 2. Not over the moon with our style of play 3. Have praised players, fans and Arteta.
Of course I am happy & far more real when we got the trophy. However, I’m wired differently & so are many competitive people who are outcome focused. I didn’t enjoy the run-in as we played pretty boring, safe, defensive & set-piece-based football. We clearly need to upgrade most of our attack including Vik & Kai, plus left wing (still) . We win and I’m happy, but due to this I’m wired, I’m focused on next year now & how we go up a gear. Hence, it’s difficult for me to be in the moment. I’ve won plenty of major things myself & been the same. I’m the same at work, & I’m the same with this season. The good thing is at work, I enjoy the ride. The league I’ve not enjoyed, and I’d still like to upgrade managers, but it’s not Arteta why I said that, but more my mindset on outcome.

It’s not uncommon & drives good things. I was doing what men don’t do - sharing that mindset & saying I’d like to be like the lovely Sally. Maybe if we actually played good football I could have enjoyed the journey more, but it has zero to do with Arteta.
I’d love to see Alvarez, Barcola / Kroupi, along with an upgrade on Ode & fullbacks. Do we have better options next season? I’m hoping some of our current starters - Noni, Kai, Jesus, Vik, Martinelli, Ode, White - are either sold or dropped to the bench so we can upgrade & go on to dominate football in points, prizes & style. We need to upgrade our starting 11, and that’s where my mind is.
62 would tell me to enjoy the moment - I did far more when we picked up the trophy, but I am almost immediately thinking about next year. That’s just me. Nothing about Arteta hate. I don’t hate him - read All my comments about him.
Anyway - hope you are good & thanks for asking. ❤️

Pep trying the mind games leaking he’s leaving. If his players didn’t know and were watching the game to give them a lift, maybe against Bournemouth to give him a good send off, or was it a genuine leak?

Wire i didn't say noni was better i said noni looks more dangerous than saka, just needs to add more goals to be on par with world class wingers in my opinion, his goals and assists are not very good at all for the last 2 years, I agree noni shooting isn’t the best but his dribbling is, if he could do that on the left and score loads we wouldn’t need a left winger,
