Ozil's injury worse than expected.

Out until January.

What do you bunch of Southern Softies think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Germany had originally said 3 months. We were being optimistic with 6 weeks.

Agree0 Disagree0

More bothered about koz and Debouchy tbh, will be pleased to see theo back to full match fitness they're the three we need

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Nov 2014 00:20:41
Well it was said 12 weeks from the beginning which puts him on course.

I remember reports saying it might only be 8 but none of those I read were substantiated by the club.

Par for course really

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are we not surprised, dags.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Nov 2014 01:14:52
Agree Steve,
No surprise at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a feckin shame is all

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 22:59:34
Giroud now back in training

Ozil say's that he won't be back for another 7 weeks. . . . he seemed quite happy with that

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Nov 2014 00:21:05
Or just professional.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can he play center back.

Agree0 Disagree0

We might be about to find out Steve, plus who's to say Ozil's not a left back

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 20:58:53
Here's a question for you, although probably been answered before. With all of our current defensive problems being exposed I was wondering if Wenger had not inherited the back four plus Seaman would he still be our manager today?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Nov 2014 21:32:18
What would have happened if Mark Robins hadn't scored the goal in a 1-0 FA Cup third round win against Nottingham Forest in Jan 1990.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it would have been a 0-0 draw?..

I've not seen that question before SG its a good un mate, a real sliding doors one at that.
If Arsene hadn't inherited that diffence and been sacked after a couple of seasons where would we be?
(A) still hoping to make the champions league and celebrating a 4th place finish like we'd won the PL CL double under another manager
(B ) be celebrating our hatrick of invincible seasons
(C) serial 4th place finishers but still at Highbury.
In truth I have no idea but its a good question that has positives and negatives at every turn

Agree0 Disagree0

That is a very good question, I say probably not, because with a few exceptions, he has a blind spot with defenders and boy has he bought some stinkers.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 22:10:21
Let me flip that question

Would other managers been capable of bringing in the talent he did to turn that team into true winners?

Credit where credit is due

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 22:12:33
Lol Ed025.

Stepanovs, Luzhny, Djourou, Squillaci.

Nuff said?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 22:20:40
In fairness, and in agreeance with SY4, every manager has had hits and misses.

SAF has been one of the best teams builders in the world, but he could add Bebe, Anderson and Obertan, to name but a few, to his rogues gallery.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 22:24:02
Lauren, Sol, Petit, Gilberto, Paddy, Sagna, Edu, Gibbs, Deduchy, TV5, Per, Kos. .

Every manager has a few duds but I think he has a pretty good record to be fair.

luzhny was not a bad signing - there were things no one would know that caused the difference in his performance Vs when he played in Russia. Nuff said there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great reply SY4 and one I'd say on very few could have added the flair to the fantastic backbone that already existed to make us what we were.
In film making terms he can do the car chases and the exploding buildings brilliantly but his story lines and characters are totally unbelievable.
If he accepted the help of a good script writer and stuck to the special effects he could end his time on a high, but will he accept that help,? Can Arsene turn back at the very last minute? Will steve bould finally get a speaking part? Duf Duf Duf stay tuned folks

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 23:34:01
Will he be a Cristopher Nolan - producing some if the best films of recent times or a Clint Eastwood - relying on legacy a little!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 23:34:06
G62,

Your analogies crack me up.

That was definitely a blockbuster of Hollywood proportions.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Nov 2014 00:34:28
I've heard this a good bit. On the "other post" page someone asked the same thing last week and I gave my reply.

In brief, Wenger had none of the inherited defence for the Invincibles unless you want to include Keown's 3 starts and his 18mins of substitute play.

The 2005 FA cup and the 2006 CL final included no such inheritance. And looking at it now the 01/02 double-Adams played 10 games. Seaman 17 Dixon made 3 starts and Keown was the only regular with 34.

SY4 has the boys named that made those defences but you missed Toure, for shame ,lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Sylvestre cygan santos eboue senderos to add to your list dags. We could have ended up with a back 4 of stepenvovs sqillaci santos eboue, almunia in goal with sylvestre and cygan on the bench. I think gaza would keep more clean sheets than them. Think about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just thinking about that back four makes me want to grab the box of tissues. Seaman

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Nov 2014 07:28:35
Very true ed025 but Alex Ferguson wouldn't have gone on to win 13 titles. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Derby I thought you were talking about today's defence for a minute and thought WHAT!
I mean thinking of them and needing a box of tissues would just be weird

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Nov 2014 08:27:33
Correct Steve,

I forgot about those bad boys :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Nov 2014 09:54:54
Sy4. You think Eastwood is living on legacy? In the last 10 years he's made Mystic River. Million dollar baby. Flags of our father. Letters to Iowa jima. Changeling. Gran Torino . Invictus. Hereafter and j Edgar.
Many of those movies he wrote and performed the music to.

Living on legacy? He's defining his legacy

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner62 when I think of our defence today I reach for a sick bag

337 we have spent more net than chelski last two windows and our wage bill is above theirs now. We are competing but not on the field. Forget the big clubs we can't beat the little ones. I want to, but I don't see a lot of things to get excited about at the moment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Nov 2014 20:34:25
steve a certain Mr Giroud is back in training and off the injury list, that's got to be a positive? :-)

I won't mention Koscielny is out until the middle of December because I that would just totally ruin my positive bit. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget the last two windows, add up the last 10 years since we won anything Steve, the damage was done over a longer period, we are now becoming able to compete financially but we were blown out of the water previously .

Agree0 Disagree0

We have bought two players close to 40 mil great players, but probably not in the positions crying out for that type of quality and unlike chelski have gone backwards. Its not about the money but about the needs of the
Team, repeatedly ignored, highlighting wengers tactical awareness, or lack of.

Agree0 Disagree0

Since its all doom and gloom on this page let's all remember the good times.

What's everyone favorite memory at the Emirates?

Mine has to be Eduardo volley with his broken ankle against Burnley in the cup. Also Arshavin scoring the winner against Barcelona.

When the King returned home!

6-0 against Blackburn. 88 minute. Turned to my mate (Barnett fan) on the coldest day of the decade and said to poor shivering man. "it's cool mate let's head".

To his credit he said "Bruv you've come all the way over just to see Henry. It's going to be last time you see him in an Arsenal shirt. What if he scores?"

Me "Don't worry bud, nothing going to happen in the last minutes, your dying, it's grand"

Danny "Honestly mate not happening cause you're only going to blame me"

All of 40secs later it's in the back of the net. HEEENNNRRRRYYYYY! 7-0

I've been to the Arsenal all of 8 times. My first time at highbury was Bergkamp's last ever goal.

And amazingly I was there for Henry's last ever goal for the gunners. Which still happens to be the last time I was at the Arsenal

But given the nature of football, it was revoked as an O.G. 5 months later :P

Gutted

Ed's, are there any pages where their fans are'nt a bunch of whingers?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Lots - Liverpool and Arsenal are the worst.}

I'm shocked the Arsenal and Liverpool pages are the worst I'd have thought the chavs Southampton and West Ham pages would be really low at the moment.
Wonder what they've got to be so happy about

International break is going to drag I think

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i hate it as well DG..

I find the Internationals totally boring and all we do is encourage our players to go and get them backe fatigued or injured. What state is Alexis Sanchez going to return in, from a long trip to Chile & two matches.
We should follow SAF's methods & pull our top players out with mystery injuries. I am suspicious of Mourinho, who also seems to have convenient injuries to top players such as Costa & Fabregas.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welcome back Derby after your red from Ed :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 07:50:25
Hey welcome back Derby, so what did you think of Bony, have to say his first touch was sublime, I think it only pinged about 10yds off him and the way he scorched past Monreal, along with that fantastic hatrick, oh wait ;-)

So £25million for him in January or not. Lol.

P.s, this is a tongue in cheek post and no offence is intended.

P.p.s, I think we should all start using this disclaimer, ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Good idea Red, something ' like please don't be offended by my post its not directed at anyone at all and when all said and done is only my opinion which let's face it has never been that important or worth listening to or reading or indeed of any use to anyone ever in fact if you are offended by my post thank you thank you thank you so much this means the world to me as your the only person ever to listen to me let alone take any notice of me :-) perhaps we could be more than friends, when can you move in?
I think that might be worth a try after all posts from now on mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't or Dags will be moving in as soon as he sees that last bit!}

13 Nov 2014 08:24:54
Oohh, do you have a spare bedroom and is it ok if I bring my Arsenal duvet? Lol.

My disclaimer is "if my post upset's you, well I don't give a f**#, you oversensitive b##++*d".

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - are you hoping the answer to the spare bedroom is no so you can bunk in with them??}

13 Nov 2014 11:52:42
Usually hate friendlies but I had the pleasure of going to the hammers last night to see arg/croatia. Saw messi in the flesh for the full 90-the guy is incredible. £25 very well spent

Agree0 Disagree0

Although I do miss the Premiership I just don't understand this malaise about the England Team. I am a proud Englishman, through good and bad, and I would love us to take our place back at the top table of world football, instead of being a footballing joke. For me, any player withdrawn from a competitive international game should be banned from playing for their club team in their next game, pure and simple. Its the only way we will ever start to help build a decent team (with a decent manager of course. )

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 15:03:46
Ed001,

I think I will wait for Jenny Taylor to offer me her spare bed, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im back I won't be appealing my ban i'd like to thank my club for there support. Ministry if sound were excellent thoughout

Red dog he wasnt great in what was a poor game all round. his goal record in the prem speaks for itself. If he played regulary for big team he would score for fun. Him or welbeck who would people want?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't mind internationals, but I don't see the point in a friendly after the qualifier, if it was before you could test tactics and get people linking up but afterwards is just an extra game that's not needed

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 19:27:47
Derby,

Between him and Welbeck I'd go Aguero! ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Internationals should be played at the end of the season in a two or three week window. The interest might be better then. I don't see the point of dragging players all ovet the eorld and interupting our season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Meant ministry of sound. Auto correct

Ye aguero is the man red dog. Special special player

Agree0 Disagree0

The qualifiers should be on a two leg knock our basis, this year teams like Gibraltar could play round one and two then survivors of those games play seed two teams in Feb/Mar then final qualifying round over two legs with top seeds and surviving teams played at of May, minimal disruption to top leagues and no more silly games with Spain having to play Newport pagnel under 10 reserves

Was supposed to be going to IRE vs SCT at Park Head tomorrow but got the dates mixed.

Still Ireland are on form, I'm happy lol

{Ed007's Note - Well get on the Celtic site tomorrow night for the craic, Sheeny.}

15 Nov 2014 13:02:52
Was doing too much beering for that mate. Good win for the scots they were the better team. Hard to watch Maloney do it to us but it was a sublime goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 03:50:46
Everyone's hating on Arsene Wenger and wants him out. Will that make a difference? Nope. Wenger is just a puppet for the man upstairs. We need a reshuffle of the board, we need rid of Stan 'profit, profit, profit' Kroenke and we need Arsenal minded folk in the boardroom.

Simple as that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I do not believe for one minute that Wenger is a puppet for anyone. He is his own man and makes virtually every decision on how the club is run.
We all get emotional when the club isn't doing as well as we would like. However, in reality, we won the the FA Cup last season. We won the Community Shield. We are a point off qualification for the last 16 of the CL. In the PL, other than Chelsea and if one assumes that Southampton & West Ham will falter as the season goes on, only Man City of the usual top four clubs are above us. We are 1 point off 4th place and 4 points behind City in 3rd place.
Yes, Wenger clearly made a mistake I going into the season with only 6 first team defenders, as well as not reinforcing the defensive midfield players. However, the 5 signings he made have proved to be great judgement, with excpetion of Ospina, whi has hardly played & can't be judges. The injuries haven't helped and over the next few weeks we should welcome back the likes of long term injured Debuchy, Koscielny, Ozil & Giroud. If you include Walcott & Gnabry who have just come back the squad is looking strong for the second half of the season. Most teams would struggle if they had long term injuries to 5 regular international players, as well as many other short term injuries. I believe we will see the best of our new fitness coach next season, once he has had a season working with the players and a summer without a major international tournament to contend with. It is no coincidence that all our long term injured stars played in last summers world cup finals. So let's be patient with Wenger & the board, as I have a feeling with the injured players returning and a couple of defensive signings in January, we will secure a top four place and push on in the CL, as well as defend our FA Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - love it robbie, one of the few positive posts lately, and its nice to see mate..

How long also you reckon we should be patient for Robbie? We have patient for 10 years.

And if we are really going to satisfied with an FA Cup once every few years then you may as well throw a white skirt on us and call us Spurs.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2014 08:28:24
Totally agree Robbie.

Let's be patient and get behind the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunnerdownunder - Well the patience has paid off, we have two trophies in the cupboard. We are integrating 5 new players and possible one ir two more come January. Unless you buy success like Chelsea or City, it doesn't come overnight. Even a huge spending spree doesn't guarantee success, ask Liverpool or Tottenham fans, both of whom spent heavily following the sale of a world class player. If we sacked Wenger, who realistically would be avaialble and better than him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well RG69. based on our recent perofrmances, Klopp, my cat, and hey, I could even dig up my grandmother to replace Mr Wenger, as although she won't be up to speed on modern tactics (being dead for over 20 years does that to you), at least if her skull falls off and rolls across the managers dug out at least it will still make more noise and have more influence over the game in progress than Mr Wenger is bothering with at the moment. and who knows, it might even allow Mr Bould to actually stand up and say something!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsene dictates how this club is run. Until he is gone there will be no moving forward. He has too much control.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rg69 I admire your positive outlook. If we are going to call the com shield a cup then we are struggling, we might as well include the Emirates cup. The fa cup was great but is no indication of where you are as a team, ask wigan. In the league other big teams have bad periods and come through them, by sorting their problems out. It might take a season but they do. We are not sorting ours.

Agree0 Disagree0

Steve. we can't include the emirates cup because we did'nt win it!

The FA cup is a real trophy and should'nt be belittled.

We need to stop whinging and realise that this is the most competetive league in the world and since City and Chelsea invested hundreds of millions they were impossible to compete with, Manu are one of the biggest clubs in the world and also were able to buy players which we could not afford. We have built foundations the correct way and financially are in a good way but NO club has the god given right to win the EPL or champions league, utd aren't even in it!

Agree0 Disagree0

337 the times we have won it in the last 10 years. People always want to try and pull you up on little details.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chesea have recorded a nice profit. Thye will carry in investing as much as they can. We will tough to topple
