Ed is there any truth in the rumours that we're offering money plus poldolski for Draxler?

I said it at the beginning of Jan and haven't changed my mind, AW will not be signing anyone to play a part in this season, I say that because he might do a deal for someone to come at the end of the season but he won't get anyone big name to join us now

Daniel Levy walked into Burger King and asked for two Whoppers.

DAGS. On the positive side of Rosickys injury at least its wasnt Girouds nose because if it had been he would have been out for the rest of the season. LOL

My Arsenal players of the year thus far

BFG
Kos
Shezza
Flamini
Rosicky
Rambo

Rosicky has been a fave for a long time, but the other 5, not sure how I'd pick who I like more, BFG slightly ahead

BFG and Flam are both captain material and Kos and Rosicky have both been spectacular

Rambo, no clue how he's back to this level. That kid has some work ethic. You don't come back from fractures like his, he has come back better. Now we see that 18 yr old Rambo starting next to Cesc and Nasri and on occasion outplaying them. Boy is he back

Last spring I called him our Xavi and Jack our Iniesta. I stick by that claim

With Jack back on form, can't wait to see those two boss the midfield

Onwards and upwards

Good post USG, totally agree.

I've got to laugh at the papers saying spurs are trying to stop us getting drax by not letting hby go to them but if we trigger his clause then surely it doesn't mean that they can stop him going

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You could be right mate but Schalke probably won't let Draxler go if Spurs won't let Holtby go to them first.

Agree0 Disagree0

That plan did the work out to we'll for them last time though

Hi gents (and Jenny). Personally I haven't seen much of this Draxler fellow. I never trust Youtube snippets because those only capture the best moments a player has had. Can anyone profile him for me? What are his attributes? If ever he does find his way to the Emirates, I hope PACE is one of the attributes. and maybe good shooting ability. Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Evening Rue!

Draxler is a 6"1 right footed attacking mid.
Schalke play him on the left primarily with occasional forays into the centre attacking role.
Draxler has said he wants to play centrally, he feels he's best there and is frustrated at being put out wide.
He's not Theo/Ox quick, but has a turn of pace.
However his tall, physical build means it's harder to stop him when he's at full pelt.
Kind of a slightly smaller version of that welsh lad who moved to Madrid and aided our move for Özil.
However, he's working on strength training a lot of late and as such his build is becoming a bit larger.
He's only 20 so this is round about the time to bulk up.

He's a right footer primarily but can use his left, not Cazorla two-footed, but he can use it.

He likes to pop off shots from range and has scored quite a few from distance, but he's more likely to run at defenders, using skill and guile to set up other players or to get himself in a shooting position.

He has tricks and skills in his repertoire, a very strong direct dribbler.

He's guilty of the odd foolish move, maybe over elaborating his runs or taking a more complicated option, but he's 20, he's going to grow out of it!
Unless. you know, he decides to be the next Nani.

All in all, I think I speak for 90% of us, that even at £40m Draxler would be a superb signing.

Peace

I've never seen such scouting D. Brilliant! Haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Love it, thanks for the updates last few days

Beats reading the same few sites for the same old info

Thanks bud!

Agree0 Disagree0

I read a German media report about him yesterday.
Now, none of us can claim to be fans of Gareth Bale, but putting our differences aside for 5 minutes, you can't deny that in his last season at Spurs he was absolutely magnificent. He can cut in from left wing or right, and before you know it, he unleashes a thunderbolt that ends up in the back of the net.

Well, according to the German Media, Draxler is a German version of Bale.

If Arsene didn't renew his contract how do people feel about the chances of
Mauricio Pochettino (Southampton) taking over?
He seems to have done well with very little and he looks touch and go to leave Southampton. i'm not suggesting I want Arsene to leave by the way it was just a debate I was having with a friend.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's a great coach, but let United serve as a cautionary tale

Next manager has to have the experience of managing a club like Arsenal, where CL qualification is a minimum and trophies are in demand

I know it sounds easy, but only Madrid, United and Arsenal have the track record of qualification that extends well over a decade

We are not an ordinary club

Next manager has to be ready, and have total respect of locker room

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a gamble which ever way you go in my opinion, the city boss seems to be taking his chance ok where as Mancini seemed to lose it despite his experience from inter.
Moriniho was a gamble for Chelski first time round and did really well but at Real was less than great.
With all managers its half luck half judgement, who had heard of Arsene Wenger pre joining us?

Agree0 Disagree0

PS
For me Arsene will do another 2 to 3 years and I think two who could be high on the list then would be Gardiola and Martinez

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Guardiola is our next manager

Fairly confident

I think Steve bould will be our manager if he stays with wenger until he leaves, then henry or someone in that mould will be brought in as his number 2.

Don't write off bould he is learning from the master and he is arsenal through and through.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jurgen Klopp everytime for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Klopp is the second favorite I would assume

Thing is, the stability of our job and track record of us sticking with one coach will appeal to everyone

Even Bayern, with their consistent success and well run front office, has a solid turnover record for managers

Keep an eye on Antonio Conte as well

Decent player, got called into England squad last year so he must be fairly decent.
8 Prem League goals this season, not too bad.

What do you guys think about Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton!? I think he's a real deal, has PL experience, and he would join a CL team! Any interest, Eds?!

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I rate him very highly and it's still a mystery to me how he's never been capped by France.

With Arteta, you can say he's had a career unfortunately blocked by Spain's abundance of top, top Cm's like Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, Guti, Alonso and many more cm's.

But France don't have that.
Pogba is better.
Then after that, centrally, your looking at Cabaye, Sissoko, Gourcuff, Gonalons, Grenier, M'villa.
And to be fair I'd probably only be happy with Cabaye over Morgan in the deep CM role.

I'd see him as the replacement for Arteta.
It's my (unpopular) opinion that Arteta doesn't have the legs to play in our current system.
As much as I like him as a person and a character, to me he seems to make way too many mistakes and slows the play down too much.

Don't necessarily think he should leave, but should certainly be looking at a smaller role.

Peace!

Agree0 Disagree0

Good player. Opta stats says he wins more tackles than any other player in prem. I wouldn't say no

Agree0 Disagree0

I've loved him for ages and this season he's shown what he can really do! Top class player, replacment for flamini or arteta in the next few years?

Agree0 Disagree0

Morgan Schneiderlin is a gem and would love to see him at the Emirates. Not too sure how Wenger would manage him, Arteta and Flamini. If Schneiderlin comes in, I think the writing would be on the wall for Arteta

Dzeko, brilliant player. Very underrated due to the fact he's against negredo & aguero. May say too similar to giroud but would take him in a heartbeat, top class finisher, also remember we were after jovetic? Has the lad turned into the next Michael Johnson? Nowhere to be seen. Also podli was asked spurs or retire? 1 word, retire. The man is now officially a legend lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would take Dzeko every day of the week and twice on a sunday.

Agree0 Disagree0

One thing that seperates Giroud and Dzeko is that Dzeko will shoot. from anywhere!

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see dzeko being anything other than a replacement for giroud. both have similar physiques/height/age their scoring rate per full game played is very close to the same and it would therefore be a bit wasteful to have them both when one would have to be on bench or on sick table.

OG does do a shedload more work and creates far more for the midfield than dzeko who is marginally a better striker at present.

Would make more sense to me to get a big buy attacking midfielder and use OG, Pod, with a bit of backup from NB and YS

Afternoon all!

Paul-Georges Ntep posted something on Instagram today, stating he's "on his way to London."

Of course, there's a lot of clubs in London, but as it stands it's us and QPR after him (though I did see a few things suggesting Fulham may be taking a look, but I could be misinterpreting that, don't take it as gospel!)

I don't really know much about him to comment on him, a friend of mine told me he's "Gervinho but he can shoot" which if true is a good sign!
I'm sure one of you ladies or gentlemen can tell me wether that's accurate or not!

One thing I will say though.

If the front runners for a player other than us are a championship club and (possibly) a team that could soon be there if they don't improve, I feel he's not quite the player we want to inspire us to the title.

Then again, Wenger unearthed Henry, Viera, Pires and Ljungberg and my record stands at unearthing a old penny in my garden last summer.

Peace!

Hey to my fellow Goons!

May be nothing, but I have read a rumour today that Chrisitan Tello is close to joining. i'm not ITK or anything, just something I have read. Anybody else seen this? Ill be honest I haven't seen a lot of him, but from what I have seen he seems a littre raw.
Would you guys be happy with him as a Walcott replacement for the season? Personally i'm team Draxler all the way! Plus his name is super-cool lol

Peace out you handsome goons

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I rate Tello as one of the most wasteful players I have ever seen

What a wonderful thing, the transfer window. We were linked in recent windows and posters actually hoped we would buy the likes of Holtby, Diame, Tiote and others who haven't set the world alight at their now respective clubs.

Mean time Wenger was buying the likes of Merts and Cazorla with money we had available at that time. I know who bought wisely.

Then bang, Ozil arrives and now we operate at the higher end of the market because that was the plan.

I'm of the opinion there is way to much noise for Draxler to arrive but we did pay £16 million in the January window for a certain AA23 who at that time was of the level or above of the likes of Draxler and Reus.

So in today's market how much would Arshavin cost, Wenger can and will pay the money if he wants a player but is Draxler even on our radar?

Just loving the moment, enjoying being top and looking forward to more of it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

About £20-25m I reckon.
AA23 was great at first, those 4 goals at Anfield will testify to that fact, but after a while he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Agree0 Disagree0

I share your enthusiasm.

however transfers and players are always touch and go.

for me the signing of the season is flamini, added depth, a bona fide starter, and someone who loves a fight.

We have had some luck with the players we have, and we need luck to be a big component if we are to win the title.

im not sure if we will have a january signing, but for the sake of our season, I atleast hope wenger can sign a berbatov, just to give us a scoring edge if we ever are in need, otherwise we are taking ourselves out of the title race with one injury.

EARLY PREDICTION TIME BOYS & GIRLS.
Arsenal v Foolham Saturday what do you all reckon.
I predict 4-1 to us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2014 09:50:54
It's my first time going to the Emirates so I'm hoping for plenty of goals from us but I'm hopeless at predicting a score but 5 goals and the majority to the Arsenal would be perfect.

So fingers crossed you're right Golds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Golds, we must go to the same barber because I have a sneaky feeling it will also be 4-1. Are we separated from birth?

Thanks DG,

I'm going with my nieces other half whose 22 and it's his first time there too, he's wearing his Arsenal Polo shirt, Arsenal replica shirt, Arsenal scarf and hat. Safe to say he can't wait either.

I have a question though, as I'm the wrong side of 50 would me wearing an Arsenal shirt be naff.

My 27yr old daughter tells me it will. Mrs Zero says get one, I'm thinking I'll ask you lot and go with what you say.

Jeez I used to be indecisive!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - What I think is weird is that the two of you are discussing what to wear to a game of football.}

You are never too old to wear an Arsenal shirt. I'll be wearing a low cut pink crop top with tight leggings. Thankfully I've got the figure to pull it off.
Flybo

CODE ZERO. Of course you can wear your shirt mate. As long as you don't tuck it into your pants and wear tights and a skirt!

Draxler no chance.
this rumour started on a site beginning with c a few days ago now all the papers are on the wagon this is utter rubbish as if your an arsenal fan you would no. why because arsenal went for a striker last season and failed yet then bought a big name midfielder why to give the fans a big name but to be honest jack is much better. same old arsenal always cheating there fans oh well no trophys this season you watch.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What am I watching for? Some people are never happy, we are top of the league, and linked with some of the biggest names in football.
And if wenger wants to cheat us fans again, then let him.
As I will welcome another player, in the same class as Özil.

Question the the EDS,

If Arsenal are thinking of spending £35-40m, do you think Draxler could be the missing piece to the puzzle or would you rather an out and out goalscorer for that kind of money?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed027's Note - maybe Draxler will be that man? I don't see him playing on the wing, as he said he int enjoying it at Schalke

Draxler has the advantage of being able to play in a variety of positions, which could fill the strikers role. He is young and talented. The problem with buying an out and out striker is that they could only replace Giroud, whereas someone like Draxler can play wide as well. If he is signed I wouldn't be surprised if Podolski is moved on to recoup some of the fee.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ED.

Good point Robbie.

Ed is there any truth in the rumours that we're offering money plus poldolski for Draxler?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed027's Note - nope, poldi was linked to them in the summer, that's where it's come from, Draxler will not leave Schalke to play out wide again, rumours of him being turned into a forward may well be true and very interesting

15 Jan 2014 20:10:20
Eds, read that arsenal have stepped up interest in Kouyate from Anderlecht.

Do you know if it's just interest of a bid seems likely? Also if Kouyate does join, where does that leave the supposed Draxler deal in this window?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed027's Note - Wenger said he was happy with the rest of the squad, so I doubt Koyoute would come thought he's been linked to us for a few years now, Arsenal will keep a close eye on Draxler as will the rest of europes elite
