Player and Young Player of the Year shortlist released today, with Jack Wilshere the only Arsenal representation on either list. Are you surprised by any of the nominees and do you think there should have been more arsenal players listed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't really think of many of our players that have been consistent enough to be nominated including Cazorla. Cazorla has gone missing at times and also been played on the left at times where he has had no effect at all.

i think wilshire has been our only young player to have really impressed for us this season, all though jenkinson done well he just didn't get enough games, i'm hopen next season we promote a few youngsters that have impressed in reserves because by the looks of it we have some talent.

team for fulham

. szecs
sagna merti kosci gibbs
. ramsey arteta
walcott cazorla ox
. podolski

subs#
mannone jenko monreal verm rosicky jack giroud

jack is not 100%, we don't know if rosicky is 100 either - giroud needs a break so I would give podolski an hour or so with the speed of theo and ox on the wings and cazorla orchestrating
we need 3 points full stop we need to hit fulham with speed and skill.
jack rosicky and giroud rested because we will need them for utd game. giroud will need to do what carroll did and give utd some heavy treatment and unsettle the w**n*ers.

Do we really need to spend. ? Surely if Gervinho went to Specsavers so he could see the other man it would be cheaper?

Am I in the majority of one here in thinking that Hazard shouldn't be in the running for the PFA award?
I look at the list and think. where is Michu, where is Vertonghen where is Cazorla etc. I personally feel (and this is why I might be the only one who thinks this. ) that the three individuals mentioned have had a better season than Hazard.
So doing a little digging I found a list of the player of the month awards this season and here it is:

Aug - Late start, no award
Sep - Steven Fletcher
Oct - Mata
Nov - Fellaini
Dec - RVP
Jan - Adam La Fondre
Feb - Bale
Mar - Vertonghen
April - Not awarded as yet

Appreciate that this does not tell the whole story, and is voted for by the Premier League but interesting nonetheless.

Michu has scored 17 goals in 30 appearances in the League and for me has been one of the outstanding acquisitions.

Going back to Hazard, looking at cold hard stats (League form). Apps - 30, Goals -8, Assists -12, Not bad. here are Walcott's (the frustrating player that people seem to berate). Apps - 26, Goals - 11, Assists - 11. Better?

It does seem a 'bit of flash' goes a long way.

Just my tuppence worth.

Hazard hasn't even won player of the month this season amazingly nor has Michu

PFA amateur analysis.

For me the PFA choice comes down to 2 players.

Suarez and Bale.

Suarez - Quick on the ball, a defenders nightmare, a fighter, goals to back up his stats, crazy dribbles past opposition, exciting player and he is a poor mans messi. if he kept his calm as the midget did then we would see an even better player.

Saying that if walcott was as calm on the ball as messi, he may turn into superman.

Bale - Strong, Athletic, two feet maestro, wins games single handed, impressive goal tally and he doesn't know he plays for scum. Dribbles not as much as Suarez but takes multiple defenders on. His ceiling won't go much higher, he has to only refine his skills. can only imagine his impact. Best case scenario ceiling of Ronaldo. currently a working class ronaldo.

Winner - Arsene Wenger

He said that Ramsey would be better than bale.

and he was Scouting Mathias Suarez instead of Luis Suarez.

besides all of this we will end up over Spurs and Liverpool without a single player making PFA.

Gotta give it to the man who loves hard work.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I just posted something I started to type this morning and started to bore myself, so gave up. but then thought I should post. anyway, that will appear above at some point.

Suarez is a good player, but I wouldn't give it to him because he is a cheat.
I would love to have him on the night be told that he hadn't won because he was a cheat. That goes for all parties that fall over and fain injury. (A bit of a rant I know).

Bale. good player. Some people who are quoted as saying he is one of the top three players in Europe need to get their heads checked however. (In no particular order some names. Iniesta, Pirlo, Ozil, Xavi, Schweinsteiger, Silva) These are just the midfield contingent.

As for who I think will win. RVP I'm afraid.

Bale won't get the young player of the year gong as he won the grown up version 2 seasons ago. It will between Benteke and Wellbeck for me.

I'll be honest, I haven't been blown away by anyone this season.

Wait, I agree with everything you said about Bale apart from being two footed. Walcott has more use of his weaker foot in a game than Bale. Bale's typical move is 'run down the left wing, smack it low far post with left foot' that's his game plan.

Also, Bale is their integral player, he gets the ball as much as Ronaldo did for Man Utd. Shows his talent, but his stats become a lot more clearer. Put him with other talented players, I think it will be a Nasri case. Sorry, that last part about Bale, has nothing to do with him not winning the award, its just a reason for why his stats show him having an amazing season and why people should understand that before saying he is a World player of the year potential.

I have -by Bale. Just cause he plays for Spurs you can't ignore what a great season he has had.

Bale is a top quality winger. I know he plays for Spurs but that doesn't make it untrue.

no carzola in the pfa list this is a joke! as for the young player o the year why is wellbeck der! nastatic, sterling, clyne should of been on the list i'm not sure wilshere deserved to be on the list he's been injured most of the season.

this is what I think will happen

1) rvp
2) bale
3) suarez

It will with out any malice be a joke if RVP gets it, either of the other two a worthy winner.

Just thought I'd throw in my views on our striker situation. I think we have a great striker in Giroud but you can't be reliant upon one player to score in all games - RVP was a bit of a freak.
The best teams have a second team, which would be able to challenge in the league. Our problem this year is that AW hasn't used other options up front - Podolski and Walcott should be played against different teams. Against Everton, Walcott should have played up front - Everton were playing a high line, which Walcott could exploit.
I think we have the potential for a great poacher in Walcott and with the Ox and Gervi, we have good cover on the right wing.
Personally, I'd buy another AML who can drift into the box, so Caz can play in the AMC position.

The biggets priority should be our defence though - I still watch our games and feel nervous. As soon as we lose the ball I get worried. We need Wanayama or Capoue - someone who can boss the midfield with Arteta.

Anyway, let me know what you think!

My prediction for Saturday is 3-1 to Arsenal.

Well people on here think Giroud is utter tosh. if so. then Wally is well. the garbage beyond all garbage.

we have always had some fine goalscorers in our recent history, so we have been spoilt for choice.

But as far as strikers go, Giroud for me is at best a Sub. a great sub no doubt.

Walcott for me over 6 years has not improved more than 20%. he always tries to beat his man with pace. gets to the by line and smashes the ball into the defender, there is no calmness, no desire, no fight. Just excuses and one plan. PLAN A

It works for barcelona because as badly flawed as their system is. which it is without a plan B. Messi makes up 6 or 7 different plans of his own. I cannot state how in awe of this player I am. just an astonishing player. I have been truly blessed to witness him playing 3 times. it is mesmerizing.

Gervinho again is all about trickery, but he does not know where the next man is. he's is lost looking at his feet juggle the ball.

They say the best players don't need to have the ball to be effective. they only need to find a touch here and a touch there and bang.

We need a CDM. we need a CAM/ winger and we def need a striker.

I feel podolski can play upfront. Giroud being his backup.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville, I can't recall any sensible posters accusing Giroud of being 'Tosh' he is just not quite the goal scoring machine that we need, he works hard and we all like him, Walcott is also a very good player although inconsistant.

As for Podolski up front, why do you think he is not being played there? Is it because AW is an person? No, I would imagine there is a very good reason, the rumour is that he needs an op and this is why he has been used sparingly in a less demading position.

337

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Podoski will play upfront more next year. He's carrying an injurying at the moment and that could be why he's not playing there.

I think some people do think Giroud is tosh but I think they are wrong. The poster is right he's a sub/backup and a very good one.

Dont think we need a CAM though we need either a winger (and move Pod upfront) or a striker that's better than Giroud.

So what do we think will happen at the weekend?
Flybo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm not filled with confidence if i'm honest. I think the result with us and fulham could go either way - I don't have a lot of faith with Giroud at the moment and I think Podolski should be playing in his place at the head of the attack - he's a great finisher and can score from anywhere. for all Giroud's work back to goal he doesn't have that fear factor.
I'd also like to see Rosicky and Chamberlain play in place of Walcott and Wilshere. Walcott's been ineffective for a while and going by the last 2 games Wilshere is not match fit.

Well i'm hoping for some sunshine and maybe a little lie in bed on Sunday morning, what about you?

Stats can lie but just been looking at the table for interest to see where we've lost out to Utd.

Home form:
Similar number of goals scored (Utd 40 v 42) and conceeded (Utd 17 v 21) but united have drawn 0 games to us 4. This to me suggests we are lacking just a little killer instinct to turn draws into wins. Everton game may be a good example. But we are not a million miles away.

Away Form:
Utd won 12 (goal diff 17), Arse won 7 (goal diff 8). This we are a million miles away. Games against the big teams are probably where we fall over most. Not sure what this means but its probably not good.
