How is Campbell not our first choice. Thought last couple of games he has been excellent. Given the number of minutes he actually plays his goals, assists and key pass stats must be pretty good.

Loving his Ozil-esq left foot passes.

I wasn't that keen in Campbell before injuries forced him to play but he's taken his chance well and way outperfored Theo and Ox consistently and deserves to be first choice on the right.

2.) 09 Mar 2016 12:51:30
Nice player, doesn't score though and we need goals. Probably why Ramsay will play ahead of him on the wing.

Missing Cazorla, if not our MVP definitely unsung hero. I am leaning MVP.

3.) 09 Mar 2016 13:19:09
I agree, Campbell has done well.

4.) 09 Mar 2016 13:36:33
Well it feels like we're missing him rooster. Campbell just needed time and he's got it and he's proving himself.

5.) 09 Mar 2016 13:36:52
Nice player and in all honesty probably increased his resale value. can't knock the lad just don't yet see him being good enoughcto tie a place down. Much improved though.

6.) 09 Mar 2016 14:59:09
He's still improving though Steve . Defo worth having a longer look.

7.) 09 Mar 2016 15:04:36
Unless he gets a run of starts I think he will be off in the summer he's not a kid anymore and other clubs will have been impressed by what they've seen from him at premier league level.

8.) 09 Mar 2016 15:23:27
Niether is Walcott or the ox we have three players in that possition who I can't pick from either way. The only thing why I like Campbell more in some respects is that he keeps improving whilst the ox and ballsnot keep flattering to deceive.

9.) 09 Mar 2016 15:45:48
I agree Sanogo Campbell delivers a shift every game and gets back to help out much like Sanchez does so contibutes even when not at him best as to be fair so does Danny, while Ox gets lost and Theo does more disappearing acts than Dynamo.
Is it coincidence that the 2 which have been part of the squad longest offer the least?

10.) 09 Mar 2016 16:13:43
I like Danny welbeck . him and Joel have drive and I think it's the ox and Walcott to go for me!

11.) 09 Mar 2016 19:42:31
This is where Wenger confuses me he gives Sanogo a chance in the team two years ago and he is absolutely awful yet it takes him three years to give campbell a chance. I could see within 10 minutes Sanogo sucked.

12.) 09 Mar 2016 20:52:04
Darren. Old age and stubbourness.

05 Jan 2016 15:32:48
Is we could sign Cesc back would you?

I would but to only replace Cazorla. 18 months ago thought we should have to replace Ozil (how wrong was I? )

sloth

1.) 05 Jan 2016 15:38:43
I asked the same question last week, I would have him back but only at cut price.

2.) 05 Jan 2016 16:31:44
For 20 mil I would.

3.) 05 Jan 2016 18:12:19
Him and Costa stopped playing for jose. There still both class.

{Ed025's Note - it also makes them egotistical brats derby, however much you dont agree with the manager you should still put in a shift for the fans and your team mates..anything less is despicable in my eyes mate..

4.) 05 Jan 2016 18:24:27
For most he's a little tube shuffler and don't need that in our happy dressing room! And ozil is better so that's a big fat no from me.

5.) 05 Jan 2016 19:06:05
It never makes sence to me when players don't play for someone or put effort in. It's not like an office job or something, where you could get away with coasting without anyone noticing until targets aren't met. A mil + people are watching you not do a lot. I can never understand how if you know you're being watched you don't at least try all the time to not look like a ding ding donkey.

{Ed025's Note - i know eden..but it does happen mate..

6.) 05 Jan 2016 20:36:58
Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.
Would rather spend the money on Mahrez.

7.) 05 Jan 2016 23:24:58
Eden the difference is. We slack we have mortgage and normal wage. Tbey have big 5 year contracts and are in sackable really. .

Eds I agree but the doctor was close to both of them and the way she got treated was bad. They had a WhatsApp group didn't they? And all agrees to push him out.

I like Le Coq but is it more that he is exactly the right type of player for that position rather than the fact he is a really good player and that Wenger has finally realized we need a proper holding player. Gilberto was the same (Bert was probably better in my opinion) . i. e Good player that you don't have to spend loads on but it exactly the right type of player.

Hopefully Wenger will be able to find someone for a good amount of money to cover Le Coq and challenge in long run.

sloth

1.) 07 Dec 2015 15:03:49
Have to disagree, when he first came into the team, I thought the same but now I firmly believe he has the talent and skill to be our long term option. His timing on his tackles is spot on, and his passing game and awareness is improving. Not that I wouldn't love to see us make a move for Carvalho or Bender, but I think C.

2.) 07 Dec 2015 15:31:41
I think Coq does an amazing job.
Very disciplined, sits in front of back 4 and covers from left to right as opposed to going forward.

Probably a bigger miss than Sanchez.

3.) 07 Dec 2015 17:18:01
As it is largely felt that Coquelin does an "amazing job" (I'm sure some disagree, not even certain I wholly feel this) then surely we wouldn't need a Carvlaho/Bender to compete? We would need to blood a youngster (and I do keep banging on about Bielik here) or wise, older head to stand in for him during his injuries.

Personally, I would not object to a pricey established player, such as Wanyama, but I can also see the benefit of the youngster/oldster.

For me, Wanyama, Griezeman, Augbayemang would represent a fine three buys.

4.) 07 Dec 2015 17:19:51
I actually agree with all comments but I think he does a great job because he knows what the job is, unlike an Alex Song who started to think he was fabregas. My only downer on le coq is I think he is a red card waiting to happen.

5.) 07 Dec 2015 18:41:48
Sloth unlike say Viera who used to terrify us with the early yellow in big games ;-) )

6.) 08 Dec 2015 06:35:14
Coquelin has been excellent since his return from Charlton. However, our most successful days under Wenger were when we played a powerful duo of midfield players in front of the back four; Vieira and Petit - Vieira and Gilberto. I would like to see us sign Wanyama, who would work superbly alongside Cooquelin. Then in the summer window we should release Arteta and Flamini and bring a further defensive midfield player as cover.

Keep hearing we need to win by two goals but would a 3-2 win in Greece be enough to get through? or even 4-3?

sloth

1.) 25 Nov 2015 09:56:02
I'm not sure how it works but I'd have thought 3 2 would tie things meaning goal Ave against other teams would come into play.

2.) 25 Nov 2015 10:04:25
3-2 would match the Emirates scoreline, which means we have to have a 'play-off' (I think) .
4-3 would better the Emirates scoreline, which means we qualify courtesy of scoring one more goal than Olympiakos did at Emirates.

3.) 25 Nov 2015 10:13:18
Correction,
I think you are correct G62. A 3-2 win would mean we qualify as we have a better overall goal difference.

4.) 25 Nov 2015 10:44:07
4-3 is in our favor yes dags.

3-2 would mean a tie as you said dags.

and anything below that we need a 2 goal margin.

5.) 25 Nov 2015 11:02:46
Lakes,
If its 3-2 is it a one off play off or we go through on a better overall goal difference?

03 Jun 2015 15:25:58
I think we have a few too many players in our squad that are very good players but not quite good enough to be really challenging. Wenger needs to be ruthless and ditch the odd squad player and upgrade them.

i.e

I think there is only room for Szczensny or Ospina (Cech?)

Mert possibly needs replacing but this is lower priority.

I think Arteta/Flamini needs upgrading (Schneiderlin - also what happened to Lars Bender?)

I think one of Giroud/Wellbeck/Walcott (probably Wellbeck) needs replacing (Benzema, Higuian etc..)

Also have players like Campbell, Podolski that can be sold.

All players I like but really needs to be ruthless and upgrade a few I think.

Yeah with Ulster on this. Actually would make some sense as can cover many positions. I would take this but ONLY if it meant we could get a world class forward. I don't think we can afford a world class forward and world class DM but one is needed.

The match of the day pundits would be pretty silly at this stage to say "we will win the league". We might challenge but no-one can say we will win it.

I still actually agree with Hansen that Chelsea and Man City are favourites but I think a good result against Man United and we become second favourites behind City.

I'd say we'd want him if he was cheap enough. Arteta, Rosicky and (even Flamini) aren't that young so might need replacing at some point. He can cover CB too. At the same time I'm not that fussed and would rather someone younger with more potential (Lars Bender?)

I'd hope we're aiming a bit higher than most of those. Suarez (again) or Benzema is more like it.

I'm not saying there is a hard limit and yes standards do change slowly, but its hardly short sighted to say that to be considered one of the top players in the world (i.e world class) you have to be in the top 20-30 players. Top 50 odd is fine too. But please people need to stop saying someone is world class when they wouldn't make a top 100. Torres for example is probably not even in the top 20 strikers.

If my very rough guide for how I judge someone being world class is so crazy - please someone suggest better. Perhaps they play somewhere in the world,
? they know where the world is? They can spell "world class"? (that might catch some players out)

Not sure whether they would get into the first team is entirely the point. Would they have played last night and would they play plenty of games?

Wanyama would have started last night ahead of Flamini and would get plenty of games so yes please.

Hernandez wouldn't have started last night I think and unless both Walcott and Giroud get injured wouldn't get too many games (super sub though) . So upfront if we get someone they should be world class or a youngster with world class potential.

Just my opinion though.

I don't think anyone would argue if we replaced Walcott/Wellbeck with Benzema and Arteta/Flamini with someone like one of the Bender brothers. That would certainly be a step in the right direction and its the sort of decisive approach that Mourinho did at Chelsea that helped them win the title. So yes, I can see why people are obsessed with signings.
